[You'll Be Caught In The Night - After Life Halloween Party]

Welcome to After Life. The entrance of the Nova City nightclub has the additional illumination courtesy of a purple neon bat to welcome the party goers, which that little bat seems more inviting than the almost ominous fog coming out of the front doors. Just beyond the door are a variety of glowsticks, should one feel so inclined to equip themselves with them for the night. The varying colored glass tables are trimmed with fake cobwebs with little spider lights illuminating from beneath it while at each table's end has a jack-o'-lantern of different carvings with color changing LED lights inside. The club's colored strobe lighting reflects off of the club's crystalline walls to help lend to the atmosphere in an almost eerie manner, even adding additional color to the fog hovering over the floor.

As the party begins, Gale makes a special introduction to the ladies who helped make the party possible- Yang Xiao Long, Ayame Sasaki, Gwen Stacy and Mikaela Banes. He wouldn't let the party go on without the much deserved recognition for them.

Food and Refreshments

The bar area has a variety of different foods and snacks for people to enjoy. Brownies, cupcakes and truffles from local confectionaries and other, less sugary options like jalapeno poppers, mummy hot dogs, garlic bread snakes, deviled egg spiders, salsa and dipping sauces with bat chips, dragonfly sushi and spooky fruit monsters are laid throughout the table. At the far end of the table is a little animatronic black cat with glowing green eyes.

Looking for something a little heavier than just snacks to eat, in case you missed lunch? Available to you on another nearby table are shaped pasta with varying sauce options, monster burgers, four different bento boxes, and snake shaped calzones each labeled with different pizza toppings for the stuffing. Yes. A few have pineapple in them. Please do not start a war in Gale's club.

There are various labeled cauldrons of non-alcoholic drinks such as water, punch and soda are on the table while other available are drinks such as mixed soda and punch floats and milkshake shots are there. All of the glasses on the table all have googly eyes attached to them. Also on this table is Gale's Cubone, wearing a tiny vampire cape and patrolling around the cauldrons. Don't even think about trying something funny or trying to spike the drinks, because Cubone will smack the culprit's hand with his bone and start wailing to lure the host over. Just don't even do it unless you want thrown out.

Bar Area

Need a beverage of the alcoholic variety? You'll want to visit the local alchemist over here. Overhead of the bar where the drink glasses hang are little bat lights that occasionally flicker and the cobwebs are lined around the edges of the circular bar counter. A pumpkin with the carving of a butterfly sits on the counter top with a flickering purple light within it. Drinks from the bar will be served in beaker and vial glasses.

Dance Floor and Stage

That stage up there sure looks inviting, as if it's just waiting to have one of its musical guests come on stage and steal the show for a short time. In fact, it's very much encouraged to do just that. While the stage is without a DJ or other performer, a preset playlist of the club's usual music as well as a list of Halloween music will cycle through- just be ready for the Monster Mash to play several times during the night. A skeleton is set up near the speakers, and it seems to 'dance' in time with the music. Up above the stage is a web with an animatronic spider that comes down from its web occasionally with flickering red eyes.

If you look closely through the thin veil of fog on the floor, you may notice reflective decals of monstrous footprints leading to the dance floor, as if trying to hint and lead the guests out to get their dance on. But party goers beware, there may be an impromptu dance to Thriller at some point in the night, and your host may judge every single one of you if you don't get in on it.

VIP Room

The VIP Room is a little less rowdy than the main area of the club, and is meant for a more chill atmosphere compared to the rest of the party. The room has its own stage for anyone to take over separate of the main room, but beware, this stage may have its own different kind of horror: Karaoke.

The tables here also have cobweb and spider lights around them and the lights in the room are a little dimmer, to accommodate the rotating bulb that casts shadow creatures on the walls of the room. You may want to come here if you want to eat an actual meal in peace without all the buzz from the bar area.

Employee Lounge

VIP Room not calm enough? Asking Gale or another After Life employee will grant you access to the employee lounge so you can have a little rest on the couches. The only drinks readily available in here is water over on the counter. The noise from the main area is completely nullified in this room. The party goes on all night, don't be afraid to take a breather.

Guests under 16 will receive a small bag of candy for attending, while guests 16 and older will receive some drink coupons to use at any of the three Gale Force club locations.

Then I'm sorry.

[He tilts his head to the side a little at that, clearly confused at the reply. His left ears flickers.]

Why would I believe that?

[ It wasn't as if it was secret. Still, she's relieved he hadn't known, and so he hadn't been casting that judgement on her before. Her expression returns to normal. ]

Because I am an android.

[Dray stares at Dorothy, as if waiting for her to continue. When it doesn't happen, his right ear flicks and he tilts this head.]

I don't know what species is that, sorry. I don't think it exists in my world.

... It's not a species.

[ Dray's now the second person Dorothy's met who's admitted to not knowing what an android was. It doesn't catch her by surprise this time. ]

I am an artificial construct, built by humans, out of metal and synthetic material.

Ah, okay then. [Yeah, that sounds a bit like golems but the thing is, to Dray that makes little difference.] Do you like sweets?

[Dray asking the important questions.]

... I can’t really taste them.

[ Sorry to disappoint, Dray. ]

Aw. Well more for me, I guess? [He gives her a sympathetic smile, not trying to mock her but to look on the semi--positive side of things.]

But you can do other things, I'm sure. Anything regular humans can do?

... I can eat, and drink. Appearing to be human is part of my design.

[ One she largely ignores by choice, of course. ]

But it does little else for me.

[ Her eyes narrow a little. Careful, Dray. ]

... I’m not certain I understand the question.

Then we can have milkshakes! [Ey he's just curious, nothing else. Really, he doesn't mind that she isn't human. Neither is him.]

...Oh. On second thought, if you aren't going to enjoy them then it's not fun.

I was mostly asking if you had their limitations. Can you do things humans can't do? I know they can't see in the dark but my species have no problem with that.

I don't mind tea. [ Dorothy offered an olive branch.

Food and drink were so common a method of human bonding, it was no wonder it was a part of her design, being able to consume it. Tea was at least warm, and the data she got when she analyzed the smell as ... nice.

She considers the question, and decides there's logic in it. She'll reply, truthfully, though she'll omit some things. ]

My low-light vision is better than a human's, but I can't see in the dark. I can also see a little further than a human can. I need aid to view things at very long distances, though.

My hearing is much better. It's easy for me to distinguish between different sounds in a very noisy room, which can help for keeping track of multiple conversations.

[ A pause. ]

I am much stronger, and faster, than a mere human.

I also have functions, as a machine, that any human would obviously lack.

I could ask Gale if they had any here. I like it too. [Natural teas, specially, he prepared his own. But Dray doesn't have his supplies and herbs here.]

Ah, that sounds amazing and useful. You are also similar to Eidions then, we can hear very well and are stronger and faster than humans.

We also have some...uh...physical characteristics that humans lack. [Like twice the set of sexual organs but that's not something you mention on a first time conversation. Dray is bold but not THAT much.] Like these.

[Grabbing the side of the skirt, Dray lifts it a little to show Dorothy his feet. He's wearing no shows and when he raise the right one his paw pads can be seen.] I also have a tail.

If you'd like.

[ It doesn't matter to Dorothy either way. But maybe Dray would be more comfortable conversing over food, like many humans were.

She looked at his feet, curious, then looked up at his ears. ]

You are much like a cat, then?

Only if YOU really want to. You don't have to agree for me.

[He likes to talk about everything but only if the other party is also comfortable.]

That's what people keep telling me. Cats don't exist in my world. [He leans forward, moving his ear sup and down.] But those are very real. Do you want to touch them?

... I'm fine without. You don't need to ask.

[ Being quite honest, there. They could maybe have tea some other time. It didn't really fit the ... mood of this place anyway.

Dorothy doesn't move away from the lean, but it's a close thing. She likes her personal space, and people don't usually want to get close to her, anyway.

... People also don't usually want her to touch them, either. She's glad she is not physically capable of blushing. ]

I don't need to touch your ears. I noticed they were real when we first met.

I have seen many types of different people by now in Genessia, other than human.

Alright, then no tea.

[Dray has been lied enough in the past, he prefers people telling him the truth. He's not going to get offended, he never cared much for politeness...Or personal space. Sorry Dorothy that is an inevitable thing with Dray but he will keep his distance if he notices that it bothers her or she tells him to stay away.]

You sure? They're very soft, a lot of people likes to touch them. I really don't ming.

This world is pretty amazing. I had never seen a human before arriving here, I'm used to different species.

[ Dorothy wasn't certain whether or not she minded it. It was strange. But strange wasn't necessarily bad. She hadn't decided yet.

She hesitated. With a lot of people, she would think they were just being polite. But Dray is surprisingly forthright. If he says he doesn't mind, she believes him.

Slowly, perhaps shyly, Dorothy stood on her toes and reached upward. Her hands aren't cold, like metal, but neither is the synthetic skin quite a match for human skin, either. The texture is just slightly off, slightly wrong. A dead-givaway that she isn't human.

But, the fur? That's clearly real.

She speaks quietly, as she touches the ears. ]

Not just humans. I've seen so many other sentient creatuers, and so many different animals and life-forms, more than I could have ever hoped to see in Paradigm.

[He smiles when finally fingers touch his fur. not because it feels particularly pleasant or unpleasant, but because it feels like she trusts him a little.

Dray has touched many different creatures in the past, most of them with very different skin than humans. Dorothy's not feeling like that of a organics not cause of concern or surprise. He Even flicks his left ears unexpectedly, to see her reaction.]

Paradigm, that's an interesting name for a place. How was it? I lived in Arcadia it was a huge valley surrounded by mountains so tall you believed they were about to touch the sun. It was very green, nothing like the cities here. I miss that.

[ The twitching ear causes Dorothy to still, abruptly, not wanting to move, in case she accidentally hurt him. But Dray didn't seem distressed. Maybe it was only a reflex?

Still. After that brief exploration, Dorothy pulled back. She had satisfied her curiosity, and wouldn't linger. ]

... This place is greener than any of Paradigm.

It is different. It is the last surviving city on Earth. The sky is always overcast. Humans have created artificial sunlight under domes. Any "green" there is is carefully grown there.

[He was only playing with the ear trick. But know he is aware that Dorothy will stop if anything unexpected happens instead of going along with it. Dray stands up straighter once she moves away, re-adjusting the crown in his head.]

That sounds really sad, no offence. I can't imagine what living without real sunlight must be like.

None taken. I couldn't imagine what real sunlight was like, before I came here.

[ Though you could miss what you never really experienced. That's why humans spent so much time and money on the artificial sunlight in the domes, even where they weren't needed, over residential areas. ]

Yet your world is greener?

Are you enjoying it so far?

[It's odd, missing something you never had, but it happens more often than one will believe. Dray knows how that is.]

Yes. We don't have the same technology of this world. Or paved roads and tall buildings made of metal. There's trees and plants everywhere instead.

Yes. It is the best part of this place.

[ Though she prefers home, even still, even if it wasn't as beautiful ]

We should go to the beach sometimes then.

[He has no idea if android can get tanned but they can still play in the sand and have fun.]

No! Greener that than. All you see everywhere are beautiful flowers, waterfalls and tall trees. I wish I could show it to you.

[ She wasn't certain about the beach. Lots of sand, lots of ocean water, none of it sounded appealing on its surface. But, Dorothy supposed she wouldn't know unless she tried it first.

I wish I could show you somehow. it really can't compare. There aren't even river mermaids in this cities or hurogas. Those are really cute.
