[ Here's a new face for all of you. Just this young man, sitting cross-legged on a wall with his hands tugged into the large sleeves of his dark cloak that is generously pooling around him. His phone? Is either propped up somewhere or plain floating in mid-air, but details.

At least he looks cheerful enough. ]

Hey.

[ He nods once. ]

My name's Anakin Skywalker. I'm a Jedi Knight and General in the Grand Army of the Republic. And while I guess that this doesn't mean anything here, the latter may be explanation enough for why I'm not too happy with being here.

You see, there's a war going on back in my galaxy and I'd rather be with my men than sitting around on some forced vacation.

I'm not getting much of a say in this as it seems, however.

[ Anakin's expression relaxes and he looks down to where his hands come free from where they have been tugged away. The money he has been given rests within his fingers and he gives it a contemplative look. ]

I was told I'd need a job and a place to stay, but being a Jedi I'm not allowed possession. Including money. I don't mind working. I'm good with droids, building and fixing things. But I wonder if it's possible to just work in exchange for a place to stay rather than material pay.

Yeah, I wouldn't really call it a vacation spot, haha.

[ Unless you wanted somewhere to teach your apprentice how to cheat at pazaak. ]

I wouldn't recommend it to most people.

[ Doesn't hesitate, naturally: ]

Of course.

Legends say they've been around for a really, really long time before me, as well.

[ Ducks his head a little. ]

Didn't know, right away, if you were from the future or not, until you reacted to the other General's name. Your clothes seem really similar, too. Traditions, I guess.

The robes of a Jedi may be simple, but they do just fine.

[ Traditions, indeed. ]

And I guess that's really all I recall from being told about that time.

[ It's all in the past anyway, right? ]

Yeah, I suppose ... if you're not supposed to keep money or possessions, you don't need anything more, right?

[ Scratches behind his ear.

Hesitant, like he's wary for a reaction: ]

I ... only really know what I've been told. Which, um. Not all of it's nice? I mean, I'm on a planet filled with. You know.

But.

It seems the Jedi protect the Republic in my era, just like in yours, so.

Maybe nothing really changed much, over the millennia.

[ Pauses, makes a puzzled face. ]

Which really, is just plain bizarre if you think about it.

The Force provides us with what we need, that is correct.

[ See, Obi-Wan? He actually listened to your teachings! ]

A few things have changed, however. For one, there aren't nearly as many Jedi around as there used to be. The war, obviously, didn't help.

And from what I was taught, the Sith also used to be a lot more than just two.

[ He pauses, then frowns. ]

But let's face it: A single one of them can already be a massive pain to deal with.

[ The first bit, didn't surprise him, because of what he'd discussed with Captain Solo, that matched up.

The second, however. Well. His eyes went wide - and luckily that fit well with his cover. It's not hard to seem shocked by the news. ]

There's a whole Empire of them in my time.

Did the Jedi defeat them, in your war, until two remained?

[ Doubtful, but it would likely feed the Jedi's ego if he said such a thing.

Looking once more uncertain and nervous - but this time, as if he was remembering some horror stories - Takumi laughed nervously. ]

Y-yeah, you could say that again. I w-wouldn't want to run into one in a dark alley!

[ If only because fighting in close quarters was a pain in the ass. ]

Not quite. Apparently they kept fighting one another and kept killing too many of their own that at some point they established The Rule of Two.

Only two there should be. No more, no less. One Master, and one Apprentice.

[ He recites what he has learned from Yoda here. ]

So far we've only ever run into one of the two Sith in my time, and it's hard to tell if Dooku is the Master or the Apprentice. We would have defeated him long ago if he wouldn't constantly run away. But running and hiding seems to be what they do best.

[ Have a shrug with that, and a chuckle. ]

So... If you ever encounter a Sith in a dark alley? Send him to me.

That seems ...

[ Incredibly and absolutely ridiculous.

Well, the befuddled expression on his face is entirely genuine and well suited at the same time. ]

... really weird.

[ Another nervous laugh: ]

Well, it's not like either of us were there, so. Who knows what was going on. And, if I was - [ Slicing motion across his neck, self-depreciating laugh ] - I wouldn't be watching long, would I?

[ Ducks his head down, a little, some of his humor fading, looking wary again. ]

In my time, they're running things, like the Empire, not running away.

So ... even if there aren't as many of you Jedi in the future, maybe you've got an easier time of it.

[ Smiles a bit at the offer, and places a look of gratitude on his face. ]

T-thanks. Hopefully we won't get any. But I'll keep your offer in mind.

[ He frowns a little at that. ]

I don't think a Sith Empire could work for long. And apparently, it fell.

[ Which is certainly for the best. ]

And I wouldn't say it's easier. The Sith have been in hiding for about a thousand years and suddenly they're back and the next thing you know is that there's a war that's tearing apart the entire Galaxy. If it's really my job to destroy them, I'll gladly do so.

[ A confused head tilt ]

There's no record of it? I mean.

[ Takumi frowns, looks regretful. ]

The war between the Empire and the Republic has been going on for a long time. I ... I study history a bit myself, and. It doesn't surprise me, that it eventually falls -

[ Surprise? No. That wasn't the emotion he felt. Confliction and confusion, perhaps. He'd have hoped he'd succeed in reforming it for the better, instead of it collapsing -

- but perhaps that happened, and that's why collapsed?

- Now wasn't the time to think about this.

Shrugs; ]

Or even if it falls next week. It's kind of what happens, to governments, Empires, countless times.

[ One final shrug, and peers up at the camera, looking thoughtful, less worried now. Like he's asking for reassurance. ]

I guess, it doesn't matter if it's one or two or three hundred Sith. The Jedi are still duty-bound to fight them, right?

If there's a record, it's in the archives. But I've never been too interested in ancient history myself.

[ It's boring. ]

And yes. It's our duty to destroy the Sith.

[ And it's sort of expected of him to get rid of them for good. ]

IN the end they're just other Force users. I can take them.

Oh, but it's fascinating. Just - all of what's been before, and how - it keeps repeating itself, because people don't learn - and just discovering how people had lived before, what they believed, how they solved their problems ....

[ It's not boring, Anakin, if you're a giant nerd. Takumi allows himself to gush a little bit, genuine in his excitement if not in his desire to share it with a judgmental close-minded Jedi, but. He trails off with an embarrassed smile. ]

Sorry. I got a little carried away.

[ He's more somber at Skywalker's vow, and he bites his lip, before nodding. ]

Yeah ... you're right. From everything I've seen and heard ... while some of them are like night and day ... seems like some of them aren't very different.

[ Shrugs ]

Even if you don't see many running around the alleys of Nar Shaddaa.

I prefer to focus on the future.

[ The past is boring. And often painful. But if he keeps looking ahead, he doesn't have to see it. ]

As a matter of fact, there don't appear to be many Force users here. There are disturbances, that I can tell, but I can't fully make sense of them now.

[ It's a different world with many different life forms. It will take him some time to fully get used to it. ]

That's not a bad outlook, I admit.

[ He's going to be focusing a lot more on the future from now on, certainly.

Scratches the back of his neck again, the same earlier, nervous movement that he used before. ]

I'm ... not sure what you're feeling.

But ... I'd prefer to know ... I mean. I - I don't want to run into any Sith here.

[ After all, it'd complicate things, especially if they followed that Rule of Two nonsense.

He drops his head down, looking worried and a little afraid, and allows his hand to accidently shift his neckline enough, to show the slave-brand tattoo, just barely. Just a hint. ]

[ It's a hint Anakin doesn't understand, however. Tattoos are common to him. Most of the Clones have them in all forms and places as their own means of individuality. In his time, slaves had chips implanted in their bodies, so the connection isn't being made at all. ]

As I said before: Just send them my way. I'm certain they'd like to see me dead.

[ BEING A JEDI IS FUN, OKAY?! ]

[ Some slaves went unmarked, bought and sold too often, or seen as too disposable. Plenty of criminals and those in cartels had tattoos as well - he was prepared for that of mistake. He wasn’t expecting no reaction. Because, even with similar tracking technology - in Takumi’s time, there were too many who owned slaves and wanted to see proof of that ownership there. A way to mark them as inferior, non-persons. Cruel, egoistic, possessive. Sith.

But Anakin’s Sith were less numerous - less *idle* in many ways. Takumi couldn’t bring up his miscalculation - he just looked up, and gave a small nod to Skywalker. ]

... I suppose most would.
