[ Within the book, it just contains ridiculous blog-style stories about how Cassian used to use pink milk to bake cookies on the veranda of his frozen planet home with his mother, then wake up because it was just a dream. His mother is dead, his life is shit. He must rebel. So he makes angry pink cookies.

Each recipe has a story of similar caliber, and most of the recipes are absolute shit. They are all next to weird pictures, some of him just barbecuing and smiling warmly at K2SO or some just making awful candid faces. The back cover photo is probably photoshopped but the rest seem weirdly.. real... (Thanks Neo.)

There are 20 different recipes including: a canned tuna christmas tree, how to make grilled cheese with a clothing iron, some kind of gelatinous salad monster, hot Dr. Pepper, and many other atrocities against food. ]

That's only true if you're holding everyone the same like every moron here keeps doing with their deputies. "Oh I've been newly elected, I guess I'll just roll over the previous team even though they were just voted out of office." Yeah if you've got a problem or a set mindset, that's going to take over that way. You think like the people you surround yourself with, and those people are always going to be more loyal to the first person who hired them than they are to you.

[ Though not that loyal if they're willing to work for someone else, but Emerald bites her tongue on that. ]

Actually, I thought that most people who get elected choose their own deputies and changed the old teams?

I guess it depends on the effectivity of the deputies. People don't vote for those, we only vote for the Guardians and that always ends being a personal choice and a popularity contest rather than who will be more useful. If the previous Deputy team was effective but had a so-so Guardian as leader, there's also no point in changing them.

That's what they're supposed to do, that doesn't mean it's actually what happens. It isn't what they actually do. If your deputy is so disloyal that they'll follow anyone and change their beliefs to match any leader, then you're looking at a deputy who isn't going to be effective and is likely to be bought off by someone else. If they are loyal and you have a Guardian who is actually working in a team at taking advice from his deputies, it's like letting a snake from another administration whisper in their ear. What's the point of electing someone else if the person you voted out is still calling the shots from afar?

Hm....well, that's quite the narrow-minded way to see things. Being deputy is a job, not a religion, most of those who sign up for it do it so they can improve the lives of the citizens from a specific city, or the community as a whole. They don't do it only because a certain person is in charge. At least that's not how it should be.

A lot of kingdoms and governments change their leaders every few years. Do you think the whole system, all the employees need to be replaced by new ones? That would be too complicated.

It's not a religion, it's a political job. AKA "Religion but with even more back-stabbing."

New employees are different than right-hands. These are the people who would be put in charge if anything happened to the Guardian, too, it isn't as if they're just secretaries with swords.

That's a very cynical thing to say, Emerald. [He's not criticizing her opinion as he is just pointing out the fact.] But maybe cynicism is what this place needs.

I'm sure this future election debates will be very interesting with you in them. I look forward watching them.
