[ For once, Cassian's video doesn't show the background of his office in the Attleton Guardian's building, but he seems to be some large building - a gym, it becomes clear if you look closely. There are background noises of many people talking, heavy objects being dragged around. He's wearing a white coat and ridiculously long scarf, courtesy of Emerald and Chara. ]

I would like to thank all those who voted for me for their trust. I would also like to use this opportunity to congratulate Attleton's new mayor Cecil Palmer as well as the other elected Guardians and voice my hope for a fruitful cooperation.

[ He gives a curt nod. There. Done. Now to the important things. ]

But there is no time to waste on pleasantries. Attletonies, please mind the instructions for blizzard preparations you'll be receiving. For the duration of the blizzard, citizens are strongly advised to remain at home. Nevertheless, we'll keep patrolling the streets to provide help where needed and discourage opportunists from taking advantage. We're in the process of setting up again the emergency shelter at the Attleton Academies gym, as during the cold spell in December. A strong Neighborhood Watch presence will provide security. If the Red House Foundation can't spare staff for us this time, law enforcement will host all services in-house.

[ Yes, there is a certain pettiness to explicitly stating that law enforcement will be providing it, he's still a little sore about the debate. ]

Emergency services will remain active. If you run into any trouble at home, don't hesitate to contact the Guardian's office, we will dispatch the appropriate personnel.

[ Cassian is at home and bathing the pokemon when the announcement of the election results comes in. He takes a deep breath, his hold on his device is very tight. So. There we have it. He'd wanted this, yet... It's relief and pressure alike, he feels both lighter and heavier for it, his recent failures still weighing on him.

He quickly finishes up with the pokemon and then he walks upstairs to their room. ]

Kay. [ His voice is quiet, a little hesitant. It feels a lot like exactly half a year ago, the first time they had gotten such results. ] Did you hear?

I don't suppose there's any chance we'll get some tauntauns with it? They stink somethin' terrible, but they're great for getting around. We probably won't be so lucky though...

I'm gonna feel like I'm back on Hoth, I know it. I got a bad feeling about it all.

I will certain work on our budget. It's so short notice to improve on what we have currently by very much, but a coordinated city wide effort will do in a pinch.

By this time next year, I doubt we'll be phased by any weather.

I understand you have been put into this office without any warning or time to prepare and that you couldn't hire staff in advance. We can organize the relief efforts for now but any help your office can provide already will be appreciated. And you are right. A citywide effort has gotten us through every crisis so far.

It's good to see you are planning beyond this emergency to prepare us for the ones to come.

[ It's nice to hear from Blaze, though Cassian still feels a little ashamed for the events of December. He can't have given a good impression when Blaze returned to Attleton being in chaos. ]

I won't say no to another pair of helping hands right now. If you drop by the office I'm sure it won't take longer than a minute to be roped into some task or other. Or you could join me in the gym, I'm organizing the Neighborhood Watch to keep the peace in the emergency shelters.

[ Cassian gives a little chuckle. ]

I wish. They would actually make for an useful addition. I'm afraid we're stuck with patrol cars and bikes which are unlikely to withstand such extreme temperatures, or get stuck in the first snowdrift.

[He could hardly blame Cassian for things that happened. Blaze knows first hand how some circumstances are well beyond a Guardian's control when Genessia decides it wants to screw with people.

He smiles faintly, giving a slight shake of his head.]

[He had at least two missions decided for him via coin flip by his ex-commanders. It annoys him to say the least.]

[ His brows arch up a little in amused confusion. ]

I wasn't planning to. I still find coin money very strange.

If it's all the same to you I'd like you to join me in the gym, and maybe you'd like to join me on my check-ups afterwards. I want to drop by the hospital and other important facilities to personally check in on their preparations. They still know you from your terms, so you going shouldn't be a problem.

What's strange is when high end military officials use coins to determine a squadron's next mission. Twice.

[He may be rolling his eyes a little at remembering that. He's pretty salty about the first incident especially.]

[Even if he isn't Guardian himself anymore, it'll be nice to get back into aiding the city as best he can.]

[ It feels like he didn't really get to know Blaze until he was gone, by reading his files and studying his work. ]

We do have money in the reserve to help maintain basic necessities in our hospitals and community buildings.

If we could usher the people to a few large capacity locations, we can focus on keeping these places in good condition.

When the storm passes, then we can extend our budget to working on any sort of rebuilding efforts we may need.

[ There's another longer wait for the next reply, while Cassian deals with being stunned.

Working with Palmer is pleasant. He didn't expect pleasant. Nothing had braced him for this. ~~He feels a little cheated out of the storm of outrage he'd been all worked up for.~~ ]

I'm hoping there won't be too much need for rebuilding, but I'm glad we have the funds if needed. Our buildings are rather sturdy, I'm more concerned for Fayren and it's wood buildings. Hopefully, we won't run into too much trouble with electricity being down.

I was thinking of having people hole up at home whenever possible, but I see the merit of focusing on a few large locations.

Yes that's much better.

Yes of course, we should offer aid to the cities that will clearly need it. I am sure that Nova and Genessia should be fine.

Fayren and perhaps Everglade might be in need of help, but these are all things to focus on after the storm has passed. We do, after all, need to focus on the people we've been tasked with assisting after all.

If we have people gather in one spot, it'll be much easier to keep a tally of who we have. It helps prevent casualties!

[CECIL. CECIL THIS IS NOT A PERKY CONVERSATION]

[ Well, apparently it is a perky conversation now. Cassian's brows are lifting up. ]

[Kay had been busy doing laundry and when Cassian enters the room he might find the droid foldings shirts. It's absurdly domestic, and Kay misses doign some enforcing now and then, but he likes their life.]

Heard? Did something get broken again?

[ It is a very domestic scene, it makes Cassian pause for a moment and just take in the sight of the tall, menacing security droid putting all that robotic accuracy into perfectly folded shirts. ]

I...

[ Oh, now he's really done it, his throat feels even tighter than before. There's Kay, sharing all these little tasks with him that come with having a life together. All these small unglamorous things that get skipped over in holonovels and yet they're the ones that... ]

[The words gets Kay to pause, optics flickering as if he's blinking, with a folded shirt being held close to this chest.]

Thank you..? Cassian, It's everything okay?

[ His voice is hushed with something very much like awe and he approaches Kay slowly, a little shyly even. ]

[ The Starbird bright on his shoulders, the new scar still too obvious, and Cassian just feels overcome by emotion. It's love that's choking him, he knows the name of this emotion, he's known it for a long time, just never found the right moment to put it into words when he was so much better at showing it with his actions. ]

I... I came to tell you the election results are in. [ And now that's paled in comparison to the confused droid clutching his shirt. ]

Oh. [The shirt is left on the bed before all his attention goes to Cassian. It's not every day that the man is offering such pleasantries and Kay feels very touched by the praise.]

Thank you, Cassian. [His arms reach out and his hands land on Cassian's hips, as if it's right where they belong.] Are they what you expected?

[ Oh. Oh, this feels nice. He can feel his cheeks heat up at the innocent touch, the fluttery feeling in his belly. ]

Hmm?

[ He edges a little closer, putting himself fully chest to chest with Kay. Right. The election results. He'd asked after the results. ]

You and me, for another six months?

Of course we will, we don't have a choice not to. But I'm growing tired of it being one thing after the other these last couple of months. It feels even more hectic than fighting for the Rebellion.

Yeah, same. It's a lot like back home, for sure. Kill the Emperor, get a bunch of warlords squabbling over who's the next emperor...get rid of some of them, Thrawn pops up. And then the Emperor again. And my kriffin' cousin goin' on a power trip and tryin' to incite Corellia to rebel. Not that they need much reason mind you. And the Sith spirit issue at Luke's academy. A guy can't even think straight sometimes.

I'm just hoping it lets up a while both places.
