1st warp strike. | action and voice
[closed to Lunafreya.]
Even after an hour of comtemplation, Nyx is still no closer to having any idea of what happened. He listened to the hologram, got halfway through before he rolled his eyes and tuned it out. Looked at the pamphlets, got an idea of what to expect from the different cities. That isn't the problem, not in the least.
He's alive, somehow. Or is he? The scars are still there, covering the entirety of his arm and traveling up along the side of his face. His armor is still in tatters. This doesn't feel like any after-life he's ever heard of, but at the same time, being alive wasn't part of the deal. A life for the power of the Lucii. That was the deal.
Either King Regis pleaded his case more convincingly after everything was all said and done or something went horribly, horribly wrong. And more than likely he can only wonder if it's the latter, because why else would be he be here, so far from home?
For a long time, he doesn't stray very far from the cave he woke up in, considering his options, how to proceed. But he needs to find answers eventually.
Though perhaps the first order of business should be new clothes - the remains of his armor do nothing against the cold of the snow as he trudges into the city proper, arms scarred and not wrapped tight around him.
Thanks, past kings. Jerks.
[voice.]
[Eventually, though, there's a new voice over the communicator, after a quick test to figure out how it works. It's gruff, and tired, confusion well hidden under the dry tone of the only question worth asking after everything that's happened:]
This is Nyx Ulric, former Glaive to the late King Regis Lucis Caelum of Lucis, may he forever rest in peace.
[After all, Lady Lunafreya had mentioned that they weren't alone here, right? And more importantly:]
Where's a guy need to go to get a decent drink around here?

H-Hi, Ulric, sir. [Hero, gosh, those Glaives were heroes, while they are now running around desperately trying to make sense of the world.]
There's uh, a few bars.
[He doesn't really know Nyx, but he's so cool.]
no subject
If you absolutely have to call me something, make it anything but sir. [Not that he sounds angry. If anything, he sounds...a little amused. If dryly so.] If there's any you think are worth recommending I'll take it. Thanks.

Holy Diver. The bartender is...he's good. [He smiles a little, if Nyx can hear it.]
Y-Your skills are amazing. Almost as good as Cor's!

King Regis...he's...well...he was here, at least. I don't know if he's here anymore...
As for drinks...we usually get our water from the nearest lake.
[voice]
Wrong King Regis. [That tone, though. That's not a warm tone. Because Regis died not twenty-four hours ago, and that's the tone of someone that's not going to allow such a tasteless joke.] And I'm going to need something considerably strong than water. So thanks, but no thanks.
[voice]
Oh...um...okay...
[She then looks puzzled at the last part.]
What do you mean? If you're thirsty, there's nothing stronger than water.

voice;
I tend to make the first drink free for new arrivals.
[Given how many people make their first question about drinks, maybe he should see about having a pamphlet by the hologram for his businesses.]
voice;
[Says a voice who is far too used to doing so for other things.]
voice;
[EUREKA.]
Huh. Would you look at that.
Should get that hologram of yours fixed. Less time spent talking down to the new arrivals and more time explaining how to find the nearest bar would be a benefit for everyone.
[Cranky, who's cranky. What he MEANS to say is:] Thanks.
voice;
I'd take that up with someone who works for the Schnee company. Just got here a month ago myself, and work with the wrong Schnee to bring that up to.
[If he's bothered by the crankiness, his voice doesn't show it. If anything, he almost sounds amused.] No problem.
action;
Her wanderings eventually bring her back towards the cave that she had arrived in. The blizzard has passed, but the snow still makes its presence known. The phone in her pocket alerts her to a new message on the network -- only to hear the familiar voice of the Glaive, Nyx Ulric. Her eyes widen as she begins to look for him, turning around corners to see where he may have gone.
"Nyx Ulric?"
WHAT UP PRINCESS
It's with a visible jolt that Nyx looks up from his reverie, pulled quickly and fully back to the here and now at the sound of that too familiar voice and frantically looking for the woman he knows is behind it. A woman that shouldn't be here, he distantly thinks, but the thought takes a back seat to the sudden driving need to find her.
And it's easy to, once he knows she's there. The shock of blonde hair he would have otherwise looked past, believing that she was still on her way to Altissia.
"Princess."
Against all odds, he doesn't feel like he he had died. He didn't feel as if he had even seen any sort of battle at all, despite the scars still fresh across his body. It's too easy to run across the snow toward Lunafreya, his arm no longer dead weight at his side as he reaches up to grab her by the shoulders with both hands. Honestly, after everything they've been through together, he thinks he's allowed this one moment of familiarity - he needs to know she's okay, uninjured, gently turning her from side to side to ensure she didn't suffer anything else during her escape from Insomnia. He's not sure he'd be able to forgive himself if she had, but...
"You made it out." And he doesn't even try to hide his relief. Not now, when so much is still entirely out of place and he has more questions than he knows how to put into words. But Lunafreya being here means that, at the very least, she made it out of the city. Libertus did it. "Want to explain what happened since then? Call me slow, but this..."
It's not right. None of it is.
FATES BEING CHANGED, GLAIVE

nyx ulric... why did that sound familiar? )

[Oh.]
[So Nyx may have not seen that face since Noctis was practically still a child, but there's no mistaking the prince. And there's some relief there, too, that he's also still okay.]
Well. What's left of it. [It's a good thing Noctis can't actually see how painfully tired he feels.] Your highness.
Gotta say, I'm surprised to see you here.

I'm sorry. I'm so, so, sorry.
[voice.]
So am I. He was a great man, and he deserved better.
[And he hadn't been able to do a damn thing to save him.]
[Video]
[The person in the video is definitely too metallic looking to be human.]
I suggest the Velvet lust bar. [That is a gay bar, but since Kay works there as a bouncer, it's always the first option he gives.] The drinks and music are very good and it's a...festive place.
[voice]
Sounds like a strip club, with a name like that. [Not that he's going to complain if it is, because booze is booze, and he quite frankly needs a lot of it at this point.]

Please excuse me, my name is Belle.
You don't happen to know Prompto and Noctis by chance?
no subject
I'm afraid I'm not very familiar with Prompto, but I do know Prince Noctis.
You're a friend of his?

Depends what sort of drink you're looking for. There are a few bars and some specialize it catering to certain needs. One of my favorites is the Dancing Donner. They have very good rum.
video;
You were one of his men? [how loyal and dutiful!] It is nice to meet you, Nyx Ulric. I am Sidon, Prince of the Zora people.
If you need a drink, I know of cafes and taverns that you can attend, depending on what you are needing.
voice;
[That is most definitely a fish talking to him on the other side of the connection.]
[It's almost too bad that he can't pretend that this is some kind of after life he's been dropped into. It'd make meetings like this a little easier to swallow.]
It's...nice to meet you as well, your highness. [HE'S TRYING OKAY.] Ah, to be honest, I have to say the stronger the drink the better, right now. Things have been... It's been rough.
[I mean. To put it lightly.]

There are several bars around in Genessia that will certainly satisfy you. By the sounds of things, you could use one right away.
voice;
[Yes. Yes he is, and he knows it. A deep breath, and the annoyance is less as he continues.] I'm not picky. I just don't want to waste a lot of time wandering around, so anything you can suggest is appreciated.
