genessia | PSA from the Attleton office

[ Oh look Genessia, it's another one of these PSA's from the Attleton Guardian's office, sent over the network and read by Attleton's local radio and TV stations. ]

1. We are aware of the problem of ducks regularly causing traffic jams on Main Street. We are taking it seriously. Nevertheless, I have to ask Attleton's animal lovers to stop calling us with alarmist reports of "There are innocents about to be murdered by death machines right here on Main Street!"

2. Please stop filing charges against the wild Spearows that were stealing food in Attleton during the annual pokemon visit. We issued a bounty on them and the ones who weren't apprehended are long gone. No, we can't bring them back so Judge Judith can put them on trial on court TV.

3. If they wish, Deputies will be given the opportunity to attend classes in Criminal Justice at Attleton University as workload permits.

4. The Attleton Guardian's office is looking to fill a Deputy position.

- Volunteer position: unpaid
- Full-time (with allowances made in scheduling for a second paid job)
- Combat skills necessary, preferably capable fighter even without using magic or supernatural powers
- Experience in law enforcement, military or similar preferred
- Out-of-town candidates welcome but must be willing to move to Attleton
- Must be capable of following orders and working in a team, including work with pokemon
- Not afraid of ducks

[Demyx looks delighted that he got a response and he hums thoughtfully. He wonders how best to approach this, since he doesn't really know what the problem is.]

You look pretty cool.

[He's impressed, Marco looks impressive.]

Uh, small question, why are you here?

[The flattery doesn't work per se, although Marco does sparkle for show because... of course he does! -- but it does take him back enough to switch to human, all flustered and shaking a hand through his hair.]

I don't want the ducks to be run over by the murder machines. [Armfold huff.]

[He also doesn't trust Cassian to give a fuck to fix it :V]

[Ducks > humans.]

Are you here to help?

[He blinks a few times and looks at the ducks, he's definitely not afraid of them. Cassian just said Marco was making a fuss. This seems like a relatively obvious solution.]

Well sure, I can see why if you don't want the ducks to get hurt.

[Demyx smiles and shrugs.]

Sure, why not? [He crouches down and beckons to a duck.] Here duck...let's get you somewhere else where you won't get hit by a car.

Thanks man. You probably shouldn't pick them up. Just let the mothers lead the way. If you pick them up, the mothers will go nuts thinking you mean to attack.

[Whistles quietly in phoenix to explain Demyx just doesn't know what he's doing yet.]

[He really doesn't, because that was going to be his instinct and he holds up his hands.]

Man, I don't want a duck to kick my ass! I mean, you can't even fight a duck.

[Also he's kind of lazy.]

Okay so focus on the big ducks. You don't think the ducks would follow music, like that guy in that story right?

[A head tilt. He didn't think of that!]

[And then he just nods!!!] That should work, actually. You're going to lead them to safety, aye?

[Demyx summons a ball of water above him that turns into a sitar, which he catches deftly, no problem.]

Yeah, they're probably looking for the pond. It's not very far, right?

[He can kind of tell there's water in one direction.]

I would make them a path, but Cassian told me I'm not allowed to flood the street for some reason.

[Hardly any fun that, and he starts a little tune.] Follow me bigger ducks, let's take a nice walk to the pond!

Yup!

Cassian is so lame.

[And Marco switches back to phoenix to play follow the leader and help make sure no duck is left behind.]

[Demyx moves slowly, at duck speed and keeps playing the soothing tones from his sitar. He's not going to sing, but he can ramble a little.]

He can be. He's got all these rules and stuff, no flooding things in the house either.

[He sighs, like that's a difficult request.]

Anyway, he's in charge of this place as a Guardian, so he's all important and all that. He said he needed help so I said I could help him, but he's testing me.

It's okay, I'd test me too.

[Demyx... Marco can't exactly talk back like this, but have some sympathetic chirps and nods, and a head tilt.]

[Marco's a test? He's honored :|]

[He'd say you passed, but he has no idea what Cassian was looking for.]

[In phoenix:] Guardians aren't as big a deal as you think. Also aren't you worried about it being an unpaid position? I didn't mind with Grell, but only because we're pretty good at making money anyway.

[Also tail swishing. As you do.]

[Unfortunately, Demyx can't understand Marco's chirps and whistles so he'll just have to make an assumption that he sounds at least agreeable.]

I don't really know what he wants from this anyway, but it's okay I don't mind. The ducks are kind of cute.

I have pokemon, do you have some? Oh and a weird fish lizard thing, I got him for Christmas. I called him Staccato. He's great too.

I named all my pets after music terms. I have a Machop who's name is Crescendo, and he's really cute. When he sees me he tries to fight me and it's funny because he's kinda small, but he's easily distracted.

I figured out if I scoop him up when he's punching me and drop him on my bed and let him jump on it, he really likes that.

[Yep, he has no problem filling the silence.]

[Marco just nods along.]

[He got some pokemon too. But Pandaman and Dressarossa are jokes from his homeworld no one will get.]

[Demyx is pleased when he sees the pond and he steps aside.]

There you go, there's the pond. You guys shouldn't stay in the road, huh?

[His tone is friendly, like he believes the ducks and ducklings will understand him and he just gets out of their way, leaning against his sitar. There, baby ducks should be safe now, seems like a worthwhile mission, doesn't it? Now he can tell everyone he saved some baby ducks.]

[TAIL SWISHES AND HAPPY BEAMING PHOENIX FACE before switching back to human and offering Demyx a hand of gratitude.] Thanks mate. I owe you one. You ever need something, gimme a call, eh?

No problem! [He smiles cheerfully and takes his hand, shaking it.]

Glad to help, I guess.

[That wasn't hard at all.]
