Closed IT ISN'T A DATE OK
WHO: Lucy and Natsu
WHAT: Totally not a date. They're just hanging out. Sure.
WHEN: Whenever we feel like it.
WHERE: Somewhere
Not a date. Not a date. It was ... kind of... a date. Which might be why she was freaking out. Actually she was in a pretty good mood considering ...she'd been making progress with one of her books lately. After considering and discarding several outfits, she finally settled on something a little nicer than what she normally wore. Then it was fussing at Cancer for hair styling until she decided to stick with something simple. She'd already prepared their lunches several days in advance, so now it was just a matter of meeting up with Natsu. Just be cool Lucy! She smoothed out her skirt, trotting off to find her partner. "Natsu..?"

"Natsu..?"

"That doesn't mean you won't eventually. After all you would've said the same for that spicy of a chicken in the past too." Natsu smirked but finally leaned back away.
"I don't think it's boring at all. It's the kind of look you don't make all that often so it's nice to see you like that." Natsu commented in earnest not looking like he knew just how point blank his words actually were.
no subject
She grins. "And from the amount of peppers and things, I think it's a little beyond me." ... maybe. She peered at the skewer, "I kind of feel like I tried eating something that spicy before, and it didn't end well for me." She eyed him. "And SOMEONE would only laugh at me anyway." She's so on to him.
His earnest response got her to blush, stammering a little. "Wh.. it's just me concentrating on my writing..." Focusing on aaaaanything but looking at him. "That's so weird, Natsu.." She added with a small teasing smile.

"It used to be beyond you to walk up a mountain. Used to call Horologium for the smallest things. When's the last time you called him to make things easier for you?" Natsu pointed out, pointing the skewer at Lucy and looking as if it was only natural to notice such things.
"Says the weirdo herself." Ne wasn't going to stop even if she protested. He might just make it sneakier.

"I'm not proud of how spoiled I was back then - it's kind of embarrassing, actually." She ducked her head a little, setting the bone of of her chicken aside and absently nibbling on her thumb. "I can't even think about ever calling on one of them for something so trivial now." She paused , suddenly laughing, "I don't know how you put up with me with all the complaining I did."
She looked at him and stuck her tongue out at him response. "If I'm a weirdo, you're the Dragon King of Weirdos and I bow to you mastery over the realm of weird." She made a sweeping bow from her seated position, hiding a smile.
no subject
"Yeah you really were. But then I knew you would grow out of it. Can't really tell ya why." Instinct, fate. destiny? Who knew. Certainly not Natsu. But he was more than happy with the end result that was with him right now.
"In that case you're the Queen of weirdos who made the king a weirdo." Wait was that really what he meant to say? It didn't matter really because he felt the mirth bubbling inside before he just burst into laughter at how silly this whole so called argument was.

"Sounds like a deal to me!" He registered everything that was was but unlike Lucy he didn't see anything wrong with it.
no subject
She shook her head - maybe she was making more of it than she should - he obviously wasn't. For good or ill. "Do you really know what you're saying? That's just..." She turned her attention to her hands, cheeks getting pinker. Honestly he doesn't think when he speaks.
And she thought too much. Oh the things she would say if she turned her brain off for a day. "Um... nevermind." So she said, but the thoughts were stuck there now. "...I.." maybe she should go rinse her hands off and try to stop thinking so much? "I mean... being a King .. even a King of Weirdos..t...that's a huge responsibility.." Oh dear god she's trying to recover and making it worse.
no subject
"Yeah it probably is. But I don't think it's that bad. Sides a king and queen rule together don't they? And our teamwork is the best around!" Simple Natsu logic. Now with 100% more brain frying ability.
no subject
Her poor brain. Every single day she had to replace it when it was fried from Natsu's logic. As it was, she was frantically backpedaling to keep from making things weird, And proceeded to make it weird. "W-well, yes, usually..." Teamwork huh..? Why did that bug her so much -- well she kinda knew why. "O-Of course it is. We were a team together first, before the others even joined." She fiddled with her fingers anxiously, glancing towards the river, at a random bunny rabbit that had come out to forage, and then back to him. "But... it's not ..like there's anything we'd.. we'd rule over together anyway right? ... is there?" Wait, why is she even asking?
Her brain needed to be kickstarted. Clearly. She grinned, "So...what would be your first decree if you were m.." It's okay, it's just playtime, she can say it. "..." ...maybe she can't.
no subject
To be fair though even for him, saying that T word felt a bit...out of place. But rather than get the chance to ponder on the why, she presented him with another puzzle.
"The first decree? Hmmmmm no hunting Dragons! Want Igneel to be able to come visit ya know."
no subject
She giggled at that decree, "Well.. you'd be Dragon King -" totally different from King of Dragons, apparently. "It'd be close to treason if someone tried hunting a dragon while you're ruling..." She leaned away, "Hold on I.. I think I should rinse my hands off. They're all greasy from that chicken." She hated that greasy feeling, and if it got dry they'd be all sticky too.
no subject
"You bet. Though I'd still kick any dragon's ass if they showed up in my kingdom and started trashing the place." Natsu said with a confident fist bump to his chest before Lucy decided to excuse herself to clean her hands (and probably her mind)
"Oh okay. " Natsu said simply and watched her from behind, his eyes lightly wandering a bit over her figure and finding that...he quite liked the view.

... She dipped her hands into the water again, getting to her feet to move back to his side, playfully flicking droplets of water at his face before she sat down again, reclaiming her spot next to him. Holding up her hands, "All better, see?" They won't be drippy for long next to him.
She might have been able to clear her head a little at least, but her heartbeat still fluttered whenever she was with him like this.
no subject
Lucy was unique like that. That uniqueness puzzled but also intrigued him, adding to the mountain of reasons he had to stay by her side all the time. He squinted a bit when she throw the droplets on his face, sticking his tongue out teasingly at her remark.
"Yeah yeah. You want me to dry them off for you?" Naturally that meant her hands would be captured between his. He was perfectly fine with that.

He quickly cupped his hands over hers and just held them like that slowly heating up his hands and being mindful not to overdo it. The kind of caution and control he showed at times like these was something only she'd see.

"... dance with me?"
Who needs music right? They've got nature! and the music in their hearts.. or something?
no subject
"Like you even gotta ask."
no subject
Well. She wasn't thinking actualy. Just went with thefirst thing that came to mind that she knew they enjoyed. No taking it back now, not with Natsu easily agreeing to it; even though it seemed entirely too silly to dance in a forest without any music whatsoever. Why didn't she get a small radio or something from the store? She got to her feet, turning to face him. She automatically moved close to him to slide an arm around him, closing her eyes briefly. Calm, breathing breaths, Lucy! Think of the music that .. isn't actual playing. Except in her head. The thought of just staying there like that did cross her mind briefly, but he'd only think she was weird.. again. So after that brief moment of just relishing being close to him, she moved into the first step. Rallying for something to say lest she spend the entire time watching him - or him watching her and dear god did that make her blush when he gave her that much attention, she finally seized on something. "You looked like you were in pretty deep thought a while there."
no subject
Still just as he was about to suggest they start, Lucy began taking the first steps. Somehow he didn't fumble in following her and soon enough his body seemed to remember these steps from before. Which meant they slowly drifted closer. He wouldn't have minded if this went on without a word. But then she pointed out the obvious truth.
"Eh? Was I really?"
