[It's been a while since Grell and the other kidnapped children were rescued. She kept mostly to her home, which is steadily being filled with new people. That's another story. Right now, Grell is well groomed and looks healthier than when she was rescued. Her usual lengthy hair is in a better state, as well as her physical appearance. She's gained back most of her muscle definition and her weight, but it's only been a week. Recovery is still going on.

That doesn't mean she can't make herself feel good by looking nice.

Standing in front of the Everglade Sherrif's Station, Grell stands in front of a podium equipped with a few microphones, not paying heed to the clicks of cameras or clamoring of questions thrown her way. They have every right to want answers, but not today. The speech she's about to make has been written and practices over and over, and today's the day to see how well it goes.]

Ladies and gentleman, thank you for coming. As there is an open investigation going on, I cannot go into further detail about the kidnappings nor the details of my absence in relation to them. That isn't why I'm standing before you, anyway. I'm standing here to announce my indefinite leave of absence as City Guardian of Everglade.

[She allows the clicks of cameras and murmurs to subside before continuing.]

I'm not fully recovered from the aforementioned ordeal, and returning to work before that wouldn't be a smart move. I can't put my full focus on this position if I'm to focus on my own health as well, and we're all aware of just how strenuous this job can be.

[A small smirk forms on her lips, because WOW is that an understatement.]

In my place, Seth Rim and Hikaru Takeda will act as co-guardians. Deputy Guardian Marco is officially terminated as of this moment. The paperwork for all of the above has been handed in and approved. I will still be available, although I'll be sticking to filing paperwork that needs attention most of the time. Any deputies Seth and Hikaru would like to appoint will be personally paid for by me in the case they are unable to work on a volunteer basis.

I'd like to thank everyone for their support and well wishes up until now. It's been an honor and pleasure to serve the public, and I will continue to do so as a regular citizen of this world.

[And with that, Grell turns to leave, ignoring the new barrage of inquiries. She's saving her patience for when Remilia contacts her. Surely Grell's gonna get an earful.]

I'm not really sure how similar it is, but from talks with Ace and Marco it certainly seems so. Spiritual energy or kii are also other names used for it in my world.

With it I can track down where someone I know is by identifying their own innate Cosmos and just follow the trace.

[Ikki simply shakes his head, the lasers didn't bother him so much as surprise him the first time. To poor Leanne, they were far less forgiving though.]

No need, Grell. If anyone should apologize that would be Marco for not warning us. To be honest... It was a bit refreshing to see an actual security system that doesn't consist in trusting ourselves to beat whoever comes uninvited.

[Grell listens with interest at Ikki's explanation wondering if what she can do is similar to Cosmos. She doesn't follow a trace, since it isn't entirely necessary.]

I see. Fascinating how different worlds have similar abilities.

[She chuckles once, taking up a biscuit.] He probably didn't tell you because he's unable to edit the security list. But there is another security system in place besides the lasers. You won't have to worry about that one, though.

[After taking a bite of the treat, Grell is surprised at how wonderful it tastes. If recuperating involved this, she could get used to being at home!]

I guess at their core all worlds are the same. Would explain why Marco and me supposedly seem so similar, though I'm not sure of that completely yet.

[But it's what Ace used to say. He also said Ikki was like a twin from an alternative universe, when he wasn't complaining about Ikki being a mini-Marco.]

Probably, but judging his surprise when my wife was shot I think he honestly forgot they were there or were more than a light show. I thought that at first at least, until I noticed the dull ache.

[He takes a sip as she tastes the treat, looking at her face curiously.]

Is it to your liking?

[Her teacup is hastily placed on her saucer, making it clank a bit, eyes wide and face full of concern. How can he ask about the tea after that?!]

Is she alright?! [It's a bad look when people living with you get shot by your own lasers...

He's so casual, though, but Marco could be deadpan as well. It's hard to tell if there's a need for concern.]

[He didn't expect her to be so surprised and quickly raises a hand to calm her down.]

She's fine! Her wings were a big puffed after the first shot, but she was unharmed. And I made sure nothing else hurt her, don't worry.

I'm not the perfect husband but I'm not so terrible as to let her be harmed so easily.

Good.

[It's always interesting to know another married couple. Ikki and Leanne seem very adorable together, but very different from herself and Marco. She smiles at Ikki with a soft chuckle.]

She's quite the lucky lady, then. So...did you act as a shield for her in the interim?

Of course I did, I am both her shield and her sword should she ever need them. I vowed to protect her and be her knight long before I even admitted what I felt for her.

[And even longer before he dared to ask her to marry him.]

But it's not her the one who is lucky, make no mistake, the only one lucky in our marriage was me. She deserved much better, but now that I got her I won't give her back.

Modest as well? [Grell smirks lightly before sipping a bit of tea.] It would be rude of you to even attempt such an action anyway. Plus, you'd probably break her heart.

[She seems like such a sweet girl. Be a shame to see her broken hearted.]
