2nd Lure [Video / Action for anyone in Fayren]

[It's been quite a few days since his arrival, but he's settling into living in his new surroundings fairly well. Ultimately Ryu has set up a camp within Fayren, though a fair distance away from the city. It's a quiet evening that finds him practicing with his sword. Anyone examining the surrounding area can tell he's had time to settle the immediate area around his tent. It certainly looks a bit more hospitable than one might initially find on wandering through a forest. If anything, this is the closest Ryu has found to home.]

It's nothing like Cedar Woods, but with enough time and money I think I could come to make something here. I'd like to extend an offer to anyone interested. If you have a desire to become strong, or brush up on your swordsmanship, I wouldn't mind showing a few pointers. All I ask is that you use your skills to better yourself, or only use them to defend yourself in case of trouble. I'd really prefer not having to draw against you if you use what I teach to assault others.

[To that end he enters his tent, returning to the camera's view after a moment with a wooden sword in hand.]

Chihiro, this is yours. I've been working on setting aside some space out here in Fayren. It's a little distance to walk, but consider it part of your training. The sword itself is yours to keep. I'll be waiting for you here.

And I suppose I'd like to ask all of you a question, if you don't mind. What are dragons like in your worlds? Are they good? Evil? Or something else? Let's just say I'm a little curious.

It's a little complicated, but I possess abilities similar to your Aura. Projecting my soul to attack is something I was taught how to do in my travels. It's a powerful technique, but it's very draining to do. Aside from that, I have a few similar spells up my sleeve.

Yeah, I mean you've been telling me all this stuff, it's giving me a bit to think about. You don't seem like a bad person, and I'm usually a pretty good judge of character.

Ours is natural if you've figured out how to activate your aura. And it's not just for attack. As I said, it can help with healing and defense as well. Besides, just because you have something like that doesn't mean you should if you haven't been properly trained to deal with them. There's a reason we have entire schools, entrance exams, and minimum requirements to even be properly trained. I'm not saying that you don't have some fighting ability, but you'd have to be a complete dunce to assume you're ready to fight something just because you've been in fights before.

[ Weiss seems to appreciate it, since usually it takes people a little while to warm up to her. ] Well, I'm not a bad person, so I'll have to agree.

[While he doesn't want to be underestimated, there's something to be said for keeping his cards close to his heart.]

I guess you have me there, I never had the chance to go to school for anything. I would have liked to now that it seems I won't be forced to fight. I mean, you're right. You have more experience fighting your Grimm, I wouldn't want to get in your way on the chance they ever appear. I can at least lend some aid with my knowledge of healing and defensive spells.

[Of course, there's always his greatest ace.]

So what's your school like?

Since that's back in my world, it shouldn't be too much of an issue here. I'm just telling you not to assume that whatever your skills are that they're easy to take down. They wouldn't have been capable of nearly destroying humanity at one point if they weren't dangerous to anyone who could pull off some magic.

[ Weiss is the opposite of someone who's overconfident and frankly, when people act like they can handle something they haven't experienced before it puts her teeth on edge even if it sounds like they're capable of handling themselves against a lot of things. Ruby may have managed to take out some of Roman's lackeys on her own, but when it comes to a Grimm they still had eight people for just fighting two of them. And those? Those were just the ones that lived in the forest before they'd had a single class. It was unsettling to hear someone just assume they could handle it.

She seemed to warm up a little when he asked about her school though, her tone changing to show she's clearly more accepting of the conversation topic, even proud. ]

Beacon Academy is the foremost school for young huntsmen and huntresses. It is under the guidance of our headmaster, Professor Ozpin, along with other great professors. Professor Ozpin is here in Genessia if you want to speak with him. We take classes for history, combat training, to learn more about the species we'll encounter, and many more relevant to becoming a proper huntsman or huntress. We also have field trips that take us into the wild where we run into the possibility of running into the Grimm with the goals of resource hunting. Students are expected to take care of the problem on their own, though there are staff members around to keep things under control if it gets too out of hand. We have combat training in which students are pitted against each other or low-level Grimm in a controlled setting so no one gets hurt for the purpose of practice. The facilities, staff, and resources are excellent.

[ It's the school she chose, after all... ]

Well... That sounds a little familiar. It wouldn't be the first time I've gotten mixed up with something like that, but you see a lot of weird stuff when you spend your entire life traveling.

[It's not as though he's overconfident in a fight, but more a matter of once you lay a Goddess low by your own blade, there's not much else in the world you fear. Of course, it's not as though he's about to mention any of that.]

If he has time for someone like me, I'd like to meet him at some point. Not to mention you sound as though you take a great deal of pride in being a student of Beacon. It must be nice to belong somewhere, isn't it?

[ And Weiss certainly doesn't know that, she just knows that there are a lot of people who tend to think they're ready for more than they actually are. ]

[There's a smile in his voice, it's easy enough to tell. He's happy making new friends.]

I suppose so. It's definitely useful.

Well... I figure if we're all stuck here for the time being, we should get to know each other a little, right?

I've been the one grilling you for all these questions, it's only fair you have your shot if there's something you've been wanting to ask.

Alright. What is your deal with dragons? That seems like an odd topic to suddenly ask about.

Let's just say it's a subject close to my heart. Where I come from, they were falsely accused of starting a war and were almost hunted to extinction. I got wrapped up in digging for the truth.

[It's about as much as he can think to reveal. He doesn't want to hide anymore, but he's long since learned from personal experience that it's far better to wait to see how people feel about his kind before revealing who or what he is.]

Why was it your responsibility to dig for the truth about some dragon war?

I guess you could say my life depended on it. When you're mixed up with powers that could have destroyed the world, you gain the attention of a lot of powerful people.

It sounds like being in Genessia might be a break for you.

If it's any comfort, my battle is over. The one responsible for the destruction of the Brood was defeated. I just need to find a way to hold back the Desert of Death from consuming the world.

[There's a quiet laugh, it's all at least sort of funny in hindsight.]

Having to hold back a Desert of Death doesn't sound like a "comfort."

It's the price for what had to be done. With the Goddess fallen, people will have to rely on themselves instead of the world she wanted to make for them. I only hope I can find some spell or technology to help stop the Desert. Hopefully something here will lead me to that.

[It might start to become more apparent he's a bit more than he lets on, though he's still careful in how he presents this information.]

But at least there's nobody trying to kill me now. It's all about the silver linings.

[ Honestly, Weiss figured that he had to be at this point. That isn't the kind of thing normal people can say they do. Even she's pretty sure that her life, at this point, amounts to going to school, trying not to get in trouble, and trying to be the very best. So she knows what abnormal sounds like. ]

Well, I have to commend your spirit in using this place to your advantage. You could be complaining about it, after all.

It's not the first time I've woken up somewhere and had no idea what was going on, but at least I was able to see my friends again. I really miss them, and I wanna know that they're okay. Besides, I owe it to them to help them live in a world that's safe. After all, they were all there for me when I needed them.
