public video / semi-private action
[public video]
[Despite that scary top icon, Uai is smiling for this public video segment. He's settled in his Fayren apartment with some empty notebooks, the plain white sheets being visible in the camera frame.]
Hello, everyone. I'm not interrupting your weekend, am I? My name is Uai. I'm used to traveling between worlds, but this is my first time being captured in one. I was hoping to hear more about the worlds all of you come from. I somehow doubt we're all even from the same multiverse, so it would be interesting to hear what is "normal" for you all. For myself, Attleton and Genessia are the closet I've come to 'home.' What about you?
[semi-private action / forests of Fayren]
(( OOC before I delve into this: This action prompt involves Uai being villainous. HOWEVER: Please do not treat this is a wide-area thing. If you want to get involved in attacking Uai's monsters, please PM me or hmu on plurk. I'm very friendly and open, but I don't want to be balancing 100 fight threads. Thanks so much~! ;v; ))
[Uai had scouted out the least populated area that he could. There's plenty of space between himself and the nearest town. While Uai can be shameless about his problematic magic, and is perfectly aware this will 99% fail, he doesn't want to be arrested or labeled a villain. Not when it isn't to his benefit.
He's set up a rock barrier around himself before he even starts casting magic. His last attempt to escape Genessia got him hurt. This time, he's changed his spell outline. Uai knows he won't escape, but he won't be satisfied until he's tried his hardest. As he expected, the spell backfires and he suffers a recoil. Uai stumbles back with a gash in his stomach. The physical damage isn't the worst of it.]
... Hm~! That's frustrating..!
[The barrier he had put around himself shatters. His 'blood' from the wounds forms into four other 'Uais.' Unfortunately, they don't keep human form. Instead, they take the forms of skeleton dragons: Decaying, gross af, and covered in shadowy gunk. ]

[The four take off to wreck minor havoc in the forest, while the original Uai sinks to his knees. Despite his efforts, his feelings of concern and panic regarding the unleashing of Glitches are quickly consumed by his anger and hatred for Genessia. With his soul tattered and split, Uai can't control his Glitched personality either.
He exhales calmly and smirks, watching his four Glitches take off.]
It's fine. Playing nice is getting me no where anyway.

I'm from a universe with galaxy-wide space travel. But most places look a lot closer to Attleton or Genessia than Nova City, despite the level of technology.
[ Not many planets which are as glitzy or wealthy as Nova City, at least not the ones he frequents regularly. ]

[Not that he's here to talk about his home world much. In fact, Uai is quite quick to change the subject.]
Galaxy-wide space travel, huh? That sounds interesting. For me, 'space travel' refers to crossing the borders between dimensions. But I'm guessing you mean traveling a singular universe?
no subject
Yes, I mean travel between planets and solar systems. Space ships are our main mode of transportation.
[He ducks his head a little.]
We don't know anything about travel between dimensions. That's far more interesting, I'm sure.

[Cassian is in luck. Even though Uai has not been directly asked about his experiences, he does have a "give and take" policy when learning from others. So, unprompted, he gives some information in exchange.]
I'm an evolved existence, so not exactly the 'norm' for the mortal world I came from... But in my school of magic, we would call your plane a singular "universe," comprising of many planets and solar systems. Then your universe has "timelines," which branch off depending on the choices you make. It's a big web and hard to navigate.
[Realizing he may have tl;dr'ed, Uai backtracks to a more simple exchange. Also, posing a question so he can keep the 'game' going.] But it is honestly unusual to find worlds that exist long enough to invent space travel. I'm sure you have more interesting experiences than I do. They're your own world, while mine are more like being a tourist.
no subject
Well, yes, of course, but I'm sure there is much to learn about your own world by visiting other timelines. To explore cause and effect of your choices...
[ If only they could figure out what went wrong that in one future, the Republic stands stronger than ever, while in another it has been destroyed. ]
My job did have me get around a lot. I grew up on an ice world myself but you'd be surprised how popular desert planets are for habitation. I still don't know why, they're awful.
no subject
[He smiles regardless, even if he doesn't like remembering.]
Ice world, huh? Interesting. Where I was born, very few people manage to live or thrive in cold climates. You must have quite the unique set of survival skills.
no subject
[ And yet the future that awaits his galaxy... He shies away from it before his thoughts turn too dark. ]
Anyway, I'm afraid I didn't learn too many ice world survival skills. The cold doesn't bother me and it takes a lot for me to slip on ice but... I've lived all my life in cities. I didn't gain most of my classic outdoor survival skills until after I had left my planet, when I trained as a soldier.

Though, timelines do branch depending on your actions. The future you think you've encountered will still exist, but you can still change how you get there. "Value in the journey," so something, right?
no subject
Maybe. [ His voice is cautious, too much hope's a dangerous thing when crushed. ] It's worth thinking about. It would be nice if the others could have changed something.
I know there's no returning for me. I'm dead.
