Upon waking up, Raven was cursed with unexpected events. Well, maybe not that unexpected, but as the story went, this seemed less likely to happen. Wasn't he just being subdued by a monster? The elderly man didn't think he was dead, or if he was, it happened in the blink of an eye.

The feed would start as such:

"Oh how tragic! Ta be taken so suddenly ta a foreign land by my lonesome. Such cruel fate bestowed upon Ol' Raven."

Over the top melodrama. Check!

"Left with a simple allowance and encouraged ta take up a day job."

Raven was actually displeased with his situation. He was in the middle of some rather important affairs, and this detour proved troublesome. Were any of his friends here? It was hard to tell since he's only been conscious for about an hour.

"Say it ain't so!"

Of all the things they could command of you, getting a day job isn't so horrible, is it? [Jade adjusted his glasses. This introduction seemed to remind him of something, though he couldn't put his finger on what. ~~His own introduction, perhaps?~~]

[It's true. He could have been made a slave, or fight a war that wasn't his.]

I've become brittle with age. I'd stand no chance against those young'uns.

[He'd keep up just fine, but details.]

Oh? [He was hurt. This man wasn't even here five minutes and already he was stealing his ailments.]

It is true. Children these days seem to have no respect for their elders. I suppose you'll just have to live on the street, peddling for change.

Terrible really. [Even though this is most empathically communicated, there is no pity or remorse on this man's face.

Of course, it didn't help that he didn't believe a single word out of this man's mouth thus far... Ah well.]

Would no one take in Ol' Raven outta pity?

[He looked it over several times, but there wasn't any fine print he was aware of.]

Perhaps if you made yourself more presentable. [Ouch.] I'm sure some poor sap will come along eventually. No one has starved here, from my knowledge.

It would appear that is the case. No demands have been made yet.

[That stung. Raven will somehow get over it, though.]

Well, to be fair, I haven't been here long myself. [Always inspiring the utmost confidence. He was truly something to aspire to. A true samaritan. ]

Would that be a problem? [This is perhaps a sore spot for Jade, seeing as how he still didn't have the answer to that question himself.]

[He was significantly less amused. As much as he joked about being old, this merited a little more importance than his act. If what the other said, is true, then he was taken just the same and wasn't native.]

It's odd. [More than odd actually. He was skeptical.]

If I could take people from their world at will, I would bring in all the beautiful maidens.

[So he could be surrounded by women.

Only he was joking.]

A man of your age? I doubt you would have the energy to keep up with them.

[Welp, he better get his ducks in a row!]

Guess I'd better figure this out.

[Some hours had gone by, and Raven did a bit of homework regarding his situation. To his displeasure, it was exactly as he thought. He was expected to lead a normal, peaceful life. In retrospect, that wasn't so bad. It'd be great in fact, if he didn't have something he already need to do, and the fact that he was alone without so much a bone. Just when he was really starting to warm up to those kids.

Eventually the mysterious key found the lock it belonged to, and it was this complex and this unit. Strange, it was already unlocked. The semi-rugged man push open the door to an unexpected sight.]

Huh?

[Wasn't this the guy be spoke to earlier? Why was he roomed with him?]

Didn't realize this place was occupied.

[He was being honest this time.]

[Jade had turned the moment he heard the door click. He was seated at the kitchen table, a spoonful of curry paused half-way between the plate and it's destination. With a heavy shrug and a sigh, Jade dropped the spoon and offered up a delightful welcome.]

Well, well. When I said that some poor sap would take you in, I wasn't expecting it to be me.

[Still, Jade still did have a small modicum of manners left, so he did get up from the table, arm extended.

But it wasn't to take the gentleman's hand.] If I may, may I see your key?

[They could have at least stuck him with a beautiful vixen, but alas, his luck was poor.]

[The disappointed man tossed his key over to the other, expecting him to catch it.]

[And catch it he did. He pulled the other key from his pocket and gave it a once-over. Yes, indeed they were the same. How... unfortunate.]

[Jade closed the gap between them, holding the key out to the other man, this time, actually extending his manners. If he was going to be staying under the same roof, it would be important to gauge who he was immediately.]

Jade Curtiss, and you would be...?

[The dark skinned male reached out to take his key back to carelessly shove into one of his pockets. Raven was less suspicious of Jade, than Jade was of him. Not that it didn't mean Raven held some suspicious. His appearance simply let him look more laid back than he actually was.]

Raven. [No last name.]

Can't say I'm really pleased to meet ya.

[His hopes and dreams. Dashed.]

But if we're gonna be livin' tagether, then we should get ta know each other. [Half serious.]

It's a shared sentiment. No hard feelings. [ Jade's hopes of a quiet home life were also sufficiently dashed. He'd had such a nice set up too. The nice boy across the hall cooked all his meals... He had an amusingly close, but sufficiently distant place near his comrades. It was too much to hope for. Really. He should've expected it to come to an end.]

Oh? How should we begin? [Jade raised an eyebrow and put his hands in his pockets. This was one way to do it.]

It is the natural process of this world, unfortunately.

[ Well, let's just say you remind her of someone very similar ~~Jade~~ ]

There are places that hire people who can cook though, taking naps is not a useful ability if you are looking for a job.

Yes, there are many locations that require a cook if you so choose to do such.

Guard jobs are also acceptable and required. There are civilians here who would appreciate having a guard.

Only if there is nothing for you to do but I would not recommend it.

[Actually he spoke to Jade, and from what he understood, it was relatively peaceful.]

At the moment, it's rather peaceful. I do not see any problems arising at the moment.

Too familiar. In fact, Luke's brow is tensing lightly, for a moment. After a couple of seconds, however, he just...sighs.]

Trust me, there are far worse worlds you could have wound up on, out there.

Whisked away suddenly without warnin' sounds pretty bad already.

[Actually his was going down south pretty quickly, and he didn't have the chance to help fix it before waking up here.]
