... If living here for the first month is free, and if I forego two of my three meals a day, this money should last a few weeks longer than intended. But how to afford art supplies... More than that, even with my art, how do I gain an income...

[Someone is a little anxious about the welcome talk and getting shunted into an unfamiliar city. Since he has to stay here for the foreseeable future, his situation has shifted from figuring out who is behind this and why (apparently nobody knows? yikes???) to the more immediate, material reality of his situation. He really has no idea what to do to make ends meet.

Spotting a passerby, he just straight up steps into their path and shoves his pendant into their face.]

You there! I would like to know the address of any place I could pawn this trinket off to. [uh]

Does anyone know an individual named Ren Amamiya? He is my age, bespectacled, and often smells of coffee. Or perhaps Ann Takamaki, who is the most beautiful woman to have entered my gaze. Or there is Ryuji Sakamoto, who is loud and a bit crude, with dyed hair... [talk about descriptor whiplash]

I seem to talking on for longer than intended, so I'll stop there for now. I hope if anyone knows these individuals, they would be willing to point me in the right direction.

Ren arrived a few months ago too, and Ann just got here pretty much. We really need more chicks though! Don't know where Haru or Makoto are hiding.

As I recall, you said something similar when I first joined the group. Perhaps I should reiterate my offer to dress in a more feminine manner.

Where has everyone been staying? I would not mind remaining in the commons, as it is not so different from my dorm... but I understand that place is only for temporary residence.

Pretty sure Ann, Ren and Shiho are staying together. I ain't heard where Futaba is, and Akechi is probs by himself too. I'm by myself for the time bein', I kinda like bein' able to stay up as late as I want, heh!

I'm doin' good! Kinda weird havin' to pay some bills, but I got a job at an arcade so it's cool.

Bills will soon be a concern of mine, too. I will have to think of ways to effectively support myself with my art here... since I no longer have a scholarship to depend on.

Uh, sell your art? I'm sure there are lots of people here that would be hella for it.

I'm somewhat conflicted... I would like to be an artist who paints according to my own vision, not one who is clouded by concerns of what is profitable.

But if there are those who would buy without imposing their own wishes on me, then perhaps...

I could help spread the word too, put up some posters and stuff. [since you know, he usually put up the phantom thieves calling cards and such.]

Would you ever wanna have your own gallery show here or whatever? It's kinda nuts here but- it's also nice 'cause you can do stuff like that here pretty easily.

I've certainly had individual pieces displayed before, but -- my own exhibition? Such a feat would not be easy at all, when I have made no name for myself here. Is the art world so different to Japan's...?!

I'm not sure you understand how this usually works... To even have a chance of having one's own exhibition, an artist needs to build recognition and trust with gallery owners, who must in turn appreciate your work and anticipate your growth as an artist. For myself, it's an achievement to have even individual works displayed.

Even if such feats are easier here, am I worthy of an exhibition yet? Would I have a willing audience? Those are questions I should ponder as I continue to grow as an artist. I cannot allow myself to be clouded by arrogance, as Madarame was.

Okay.... so just start makin' art and gaining trust. What's so hard about all of that? And dude stop doubting yourself, you know you're the best artist I know, you're really effin' good!

You always make things seem so simple... Or perhaps it is I who makes things too complicated.

Regardless, I'm grateful for the encouragement, Ryuji. I'll try my best to assert my place as an artist here.
