1 - ACTION / VIDEO
[There's a dark-haired teenager with the lost expression of a new arrival wandering around the streets, clutching what few belongings he has and staring around at everything. He... seems to be talking to someone? But he's not using his phone, so maybe the person he's muttering to is just himself.]
... If living here for the first month is free, and if I forego two of my three meals a day, this money should last a few weeks longer than intended. But how to afford art supplies... More than that, even with my art, how do I gain an income...
[Someone is a little anxious about the welcome talk and getting shunted into an unfamiliar city. Since he has to stay here for the foreseeable future, his situation has shifted from figuring out who is behind this and why (apparently nobody knows? yikes???) to the more immediate, material reality of his situation. He really has no idea what to do to make ends meet.
Spotting a passerby, he just straight up steps into their path and shoves his pendant into their face.]
You there! I would like to know the address of any place I could pawn this trinket off to. [uh]
VIDEO.
Excuse me. I was informed I could use this in order to find others from my home. [A pause... Who should he ask for first... Only his friends spring to mind, so--]
Does anyone know an individual named Ren Amamiya? He is my age, bespectacled, and often smells of coffee. Or perhaps Ann Takamaki, who is the most beautiful woman to have entered my gaze. Or there is Ryuji Sakamoto, who is loud and a bit crude, with dyed hair... [talk about descriptor whiplash]
I seem to talking on for longer than intended, so I'll stop there for now. I hope if anyone knows these individuals, they would be willing to point me in the right direction.

( it is also impossible to tell when ren is joking, which is what makes it funnier when the employee waiting on their order just smiles sort of awkwardly at the both of them. ren nods at the flower-cookies, makes a small "hm hm" noise as he touches his chin thoughtfully. )
You do buy art to look at it, but I think we're going to have to make an exception here.
( everything looks too cute to eat, but ren eventually decides on a decently sized sweet tart for them to share and two unicorn cupcakes because how can he resist?
they pick a small, two-chaired table by the window and ren lays everything out between them before passing yusuke a tiny plastic spoon. then, he holds out his own in offering. )
To Yusuke's arrival.
( clink it! like a toast! )

[Yusuke is delighted at both the food and aesthetics thereof, particularly the care and craftsmanship that have gone into making the cupcakes. It's only politeness that keeps him from digging into the tart straight away; when Ren raises his spoon, he realises his intention and clinks their spoons.]
To my delayed arrival.

I know you just got here, and I don't want to get too serious over unicorn cupcakes, but there are some things that I think are important to get into while we have a chance to talk.
( one nom. he's happy to report the berries are as sweet and ripe as they look. )
Is that okay with you?

Oh-- Of course. If there's something I should know, or something on your mind, please don't hold back on my account.

( not that there is anything wrong with this. there is no better place to be lost than in a cat cafe. but ren learned his lesson with the others and wants to get on the same page as soon as possible. still, it takes him a moment to figure out how to start, since it's...a lot. )
I guess, before anything, I should ask the last thing you remember, before you were taken. Time is a little weird in this place - Ryuji and Ann, they have different memories than I do. So does Futaba, I think.
( he was tapping his spoon thoughtfully against their little plate, but now he stops and glances up. his voice lowers, nearly to a whisper. )
They all said that we already took down Shido, but from where I'm standing, we're barely a day into our infiltration of his Palace. ( he tilts his head, curious ) What about you?
