Attleton-Colosseum--Locked to Bakugou, Aizawa-sensei. Open to spectators...
Attleton Colosseum--a few hours after this thread.
The Colosseum was still not his favorite place--but this time Trunks was able to put the cheering crowds and atmosphere out of his mind. Mostly because as much as he wasn't impressed, he did know he shouldn't make stupid mistakes--like being cocky. Normally he wasn't nearly so childish anyways, but Bakugou just used up all his patience--especially when he threatened his friends.
Never mind they were probably idle-threats... Trunks has lost too many friends and too many others. Not that he would do much, beyond knocking the kid out if it came to that.
So as soon as Bakugo gave him a time, Trunks was headed to the colosseum and ready.

[Sitting up a bit straighter, she took note of the slump and deliberate aversion of eye contact. Were she in a better frame of mind, she might have even smiled. He looked every bit like a child with his hand caught in the cookie jar. Like he expected her to yell at him.]
I didn't hear that part, no.
[She saw lips move, but couldn't read them from the angle she was sitting at.]
I guess I'm just most surprised you let something like this get this far. You knew how weak he was--[An assumption, but not one without prior knowledge. No doubt, Trunks' would have sensed his opponent's power levels and made judgements accordingly.]--and you knew he was just saying things to piss you off...or did you really think he would hurt anyone?

To be honest? I don't actually know, and I still don't know after that fight. He was extremely restrained during the debates, but I first encountered him at the Haunted House. One thing I will give us, is we were all prepared for almost any thing. Soon as I saw him go in, I grabbed a fire extinguisher and kept my senses open.
[It might seem irrelevant, but he had a point and purpose.]
Even to the illusions, his reaction is to fight, and that includes his making explosions. I just tried to ensure things didn't actually get set on fire. That's part of why I was in a bad mood after all of that--he used up my patience.
no subject
What exactly did he say to you? To get you to come here.

Nothing that he hasn't said before, but I was one of a few people defending Kaytoo against his insults. He claimed he could do anything he wanted, I shot back that no, he can't--there was video to that effect too. He told me to shut up, and I shot back that he should make me. He said I wasn't worth it, and I pointed out that he keeps saying that. I even offered back at the haunted house to fight him, if he wanted, just don't set the haunted house on fire.
Basically I was childish, I know--but I asked if he only liked to pick on people who wouldn't fight back. Told him how he talks big but he hasn't backed it up.
[Yes, it was stupid and Trunks knows it. He's not exactly proud of it, even if he doesn't regret defending his friends.]
That's when it moved off the main channels, and he said something to the effect of "if I"m so eager to die, he'll murder me in 2 minutes" and asked where we should do this.

[...she wasn't sure whether to burst out laughing or sigh in exasperation.]
[A compromise, then. The corners of her lips twitching upward. Slightly. Head dipping down just enough to shake her head. Shoulders relaxing as she felt a potential weight lift. He'd insulted Kaytoo. Not violently threatened. At least, not in the way Mai had thought--not the way she was used to being threatened.]
I see.
[Even the murder threat...that had been against Trunks, himself. Not those close to him.]
...he really got under your skin, didn't he?
no subject
No, Trunks was still not proud, and with her last sentence he huffed, and it'd be a wonder she could make out the grumbled words with a hint of growl to them.]
...in a way that is too much like my father.
[Full of exasperation himself, both at Bakugo and at himself, and even at the absent Vegeta. Taking a deep breath in, and out, Trunks is trying to let go of that exasperation.]
He did insult Kaytoo, and threaten him obliquely. Also threatened Cassian too, when he went to defend his husband.

[Moving to stand, she came up directly in front of him. Closing her eyes for a moment as she lifted one hand...and gave the top of his head a light knock. Soft enough that it wouldn't have hurt a human, let alone Saiyan warrior, but with just the right amount of force that he would still feel it.]
Idiot.
[That said, she lowered her hand, and when her eyes opened again, she smiled softly up at him.]
...but you're an idiot with a big heart.
no subject
Yeah, I know. I did learn some interesting things though. I'm also convinced he really has no clue what he's actually saying or means when he threatens murder and for people to die.
[Which makes the smile vanish again, and his head come up. Eyes closing, and he's pinching the bridge of his nose.]
Which honestly makes it worse, but we can talk about it at home, right?
no subject
Only if you want to.
Unless there's something else you're not telling me, I understand now. Someone who might actually pose a threat to those of us without your level of strength and healing thought he could get away with doing what he wanted, thinking he was the strongest. You showed him he was wrong. Even if there were better ways to go about it...nobody got hurt too badly, and I'm sure he'll think twice before challenging you again.
no subject
I do, and I think you're wrong. I suspect he WILL still try and challenge me, and others. I think he hasn't learned. He's...a lot more like my father than I thought, but I don't know how much yet. I need to talk to mom, and some others...but I'll fill you in as we go.
no subject
Still? Even after all that?
[It was a rhetorical question, really. Because what he said made as much sense as her initial (faulty) assumption. Someone that eager to fight...of course a stronger opponent would only fuel his rage further. Now he had somebody to beat.]
You're right. We need to let Bulma know. Your sister and Goku too. Just in case.
no subject
I'm less worried about Bulla, or him coming after our loved ones. That's too...cowardly, and he definitely doesn't want to be seen as a coward. He doesn't want to be looked down on, and fighting and being the strongest seems to be the way he's used to being seen as the winner. The best. He wants to be a Hero, which in his view, seems to be the strongest.
[It's a bit rambled, as Trunks is speaking as much to himself as to Mai.]
That's why I want to talk to Ms. Kuroneko more--she has more insight into him. He also has a teacher here, so I'll probably try and talk to him too.
[He's also just sort of assuming Mai will be following, so his pace is a little fast.]
no subject
[So she let him talk, nodding her agreement in the end of his proposed idea even though she didn't recognize the name.]
If he has a teacher, that might be best. Although I would be careful...just in case his teacher has the same attitude towards fighting he does.
no subject
[There's a sheepish smile at the words, as he recognizes he's flawed. More human than most forget, and definitely not like a typical saiyan in many ways.]
That's why I'm starting with Ms. Kuroneko. Probably also going to talk to Dante, as he mentioned he has a plan. Maybe.
[Turning, and meeting her eyes, while they walked.]
I'm not doing this alone. Ms. Kuroneko wants to try and get everyone involved, in helping him learn other ways. I'm not sure we can get everyone, but it definitely means getting people who he'll listen to, AND-OR who can handle him and make him shut up for a bit, in on things. Which is the harder part.

[A faint smile mirrored in her expression when he referred to himself as an 'idiot', clearly meant to echo her earlier admonishment. Despite everything. If he was aware enough of his own faults to admit them, then he was already a much further step up from his father than he gave himself credit for.]
It sounds me to me like you have a pretty good plan to start with.
What about the person you called to pick him up? You said her name was...Ms Kuroneko?

[Trunks, especially this version, was very much NOT like his father. His timeline's counterpart certainly exhibited more traits influenced from him, given Vegeta was active in his life and training. Despite all that though, Trunks was still Vegeta's son, as well as Bulma's. Who was herself known for her pride too, and being willing to take on anyone she needed to.]
no subject
Do you think her finding out and having to come get him will affect him at all?
no subject
[Trunks eyebrow arched, and his expression was solemn again. With a hint of frown.]
I don't really care if it affects him. He wouldn't let ME obviously do anything, and I wasn't going to just leave him. She seems to know what she's doing, and I offered more help, but she refused.
no subject
That's not what I meant.
[At least, not in the way it seemed he was interpreting the situation.]
You said she was someone he might listen to. There's a reason for that. And if that reason means her presence might actually make a difference in his behavior, then it's worth considering.
no subject
I honestly don't know, in this case. I DO think she's absolutely worth working with and talking to, to try and deal with him. Whatever she's done so far, seems to have at least some positive effect.
no subject
That's good.
I hope you got her contact information, in that case. On the chance we may need to call her for help again.
