Weiss's Finest Block Party
WHO: Anyone and everyone!
WHAT: Block Party!
WHEN: August 8th, 2pm-9pm
WHERE: The block between Oak & 8th and Nettle & 8th, both ends of which are blocked off with sandbags to prevent traffic from running someone over.
WARNINGS: Don't pee in the ballpit and don't get burnt. --But no probably nothing?
When you arrive, it's very obvious where the party is. If the sandbags blocking off the street aren't an indication, the large hand-painted signs ("BLOCK PARTY! Come one and all!") in extremely neat writing on the front of them and the balloons going in an arch from one end of either side of the sandbag barrier to the other make it pretty obvious. The arrow-shaped signs going down the streets at every street corner for at least 5 blocks out in any direction might help too.
Various balloons are tied up to the trees on the block and there's a pleasant music of actual MUSICAL SINGING BIRDS courtesy of Fluttershy fluttering through the air. The smell of chickens roasting over a rotisserie spit floats through the air and if you follow it, you'll find a canvas canopy over a couple of tables filled with various FOOD like Himawari's cheesecake, Yuuki's salad, Azula's fruit tarts, Sun's fruit bowl, Ryu's sushi, Weiss's chocolate chip cookies (carefully hidden from Ruby with much effort) and lemonade, water, and more (since it's basically whatever anyone shows up with). There's not a ballpit, sorry, false advertising I know-- but there IS a BOUNCE HOUSE for children and small people. (If you pop it, you pay for it, and Weiss will find a way to hunt you down.) There are plenty of places to sit, including the BEACH CHAIRSthat Weiss may have borrowed from their apartment's pool... but she definitely plans on returning them, of course and various PICNIC BLANKETS set out on lawns for anyone who didn't get a beach chair. There's a barrel for APPLE BOBBING as well!
Overall, it's a very peaceful experience. But, just that wouldn't be anywhere near enough to make it spectacular. There's a series of events that will be happening as well:

Overall, it's a very peaceful experience. But, just that wouldn't be anywhere near enough to make it spectacular. There's a series of events that will be happening as well:
- 3:15PM: Firebending Show (Performed by Zuko)
4:00PM: Limbo Contest (Prize: A gift card for music credits from "From Dust Till Dawn" in the Vale archway and a large box of chocolate. There is a section to comment for this one so I know who to RNG from.)
5:30PM: Watermelon Smashing Contest (No prize, but you get to eat watermelon.)
6:15PM: Dance (All other events are cleared and the birds will stop to be replaced by very loud music (stereos, but it's there) from a variety of worlds with large rental floodlights on the floor and smoke machines for an excellent outdoor dancing experience.)
7:30PM: Bon Fire. Back to birds for quiet music and a bon fire in the middle of the street, surrounded by rocks to make sure people knew the fire wouldn't spread (even though Weiss is sure Zuko has a handle on it). All the chairs will be brought around in a circle at a safe distance, leaving a circle for any dances that people might want to do on their own.
9:00PM: Fireworks. The end of the party will be set off with a stream of fireworks in the sky! It's actually a pretty impressive show and.. partially affected by Dust to make it look even more impressive.

That part was definitely true. She was a violent person at times, but it wasn't toward other people unless they attacked her first or.. they were her friends and completely deserved that kick to the forehead. Yuri shakes her hand with a smile on her face.
"Though, I might have to be that Miss that throws you in the bounce house if you're going to call me Miss~!"
She's going to playfully pull Koishi over while they're shaking and try to toss her to a spot with no kids to get the bouncing going.
Oh noes! Tentacles!
Oh, right. Flight.
She was giggling madly, springing forward with every intent of returning the favor. Several tendrils slid from her sleeves, the same deep blue color as her third eye, each one ending in a flat heart-like shape. They were more than strong enough to return that playful toss with one of her own.
Oddly not the first tentacles Yuri's encountered in Genessia...
Thoughts were quickly interrupted by the sudden tentacles.
"Again!?" she shouted as she was suddenly flung by the tentacles. Even if she could easily land on normal ground, a bounce house was a little more challenging to pull off a typical roll landing. Yuri ended up bouncing and rolling right into the side of the bounce house, reaching up to the net to pull herself up. "It looks like this won't be so easy!"
Probably the only ones attached to an adorable girl though.
She bent her knees a little, reaching up to straighten her hat, a little smile playing over her features. "It's no fun if its easy. Then there's no reason to win!"
Right you are.
Yuri knew she definitely hadn't kept up with practicing firing her gun or knife fighting in a while, even if she made sure to go to a range every once in a while. Yuri smiles at Koishi's last comment, even if she isn't making a move to try to bounce her again.
"That's true. Nothing worth really having ever came easily."
Congrats! You made friends with a clingy, affectionate ball of tentacles, nightmares, and cute :D
Successful or not, the smile never left her face. "I really like you miss! You're so much fun. We should play more sometime. We could visit my home and play with the animals or go exploring or have a picnic! Or I could teach you to danmaku! I bet you would be good at it!"
no subject
"Well, I guess we could do that sometime. What's 'danmaku' though?"
no subject
She sat up, waving her arms. "You make lots of magic bullets and make them move in pretty patterns and try to dazzle your opponent and hit them at the same time. The shots hurt but hurting isn't the same as dying so its okay."
no subject
Yuri had sort of let herself get used to just being able to push someone off of a building or shoot them and they would get better where she was before this. She's been avoiding really hurting anyone (with a few exceptions) since she arrived in Genessia since the rules had changed, even if she on occasion wanted to deal with stress by kicking someone's ass
or facewhen they said or did something stupid."It sounds fun, too."
no subject
She threw up her arms, glowing petals fluttering from her sleeves and dissolving in the air, accompanied by the distinct scent of roses. "It's the best!"
no subject
The roses were more of a surprise, though mostly because there weren't many people she'd seen who had a distinctly rosey style besides one specific person.
"In one of the worlds I spent time in, there was a huge rose garden, but it was raining all the time so we could never really smell them very well. It's weird to smell them now since I got used to just smelling rain all the time."
She was making a point to sniff though. It was pretty refreshing to actually be able to properly smell the roses.
no subject
"Ah? A huge garden? That's amazing! I want to see a huge garden sometime! Sis has a big garden but its not HUGE!" She bounced up higher and twirled around, releasing more rose petals. "Rain isn't a bad smell though. It's quite lovely and refreshing. I never got to smell it much in old hell. It never rained there. Only snowed sometimes, so rain is a real treat for me.
no subject
Especially since more often than not it ended up mixing with blood somewhere, even back in the afterlife. Koishi didn't need to know that though.
Yuri stood up properly, moving to bounce lightly in the spot she chose.
"I wonder if there's a huge garden somewhere around here?"
no subject
"Miss! This is the greatest thing ever! It's so bouncy! I love it! It's so much fun. I want to get one for home so I can bounce all day. The panther can't go near it though. His claws would break it!"
no subject
A lot of the fairy tales she's heard about youkai and similar creatures involved children getting murdered or eaten or drowned or weird bathroom stall ghosts that want you to pick some colored paper. Having experienced being dead, Yuri had assumed the last one had to be some kind of demon because dead people were weird but not that weird.
"You can probably buy one if you save up enough mon-- wait you have a panther!?"
no subject
"I suppose youkai are normally the ones being scary so its understandable I guess that you might think that we don't-" A pause. "Yeah. We have all sorts of pets. You should come and meet them all sometime!"
no subject
It came from being dead for so long, being unable to die again. All of the 'scary things' became curiosities while some of the things that normal people could manage on a daily basis seemed like something frightening, like caring for other people. She'd worked through a good number of those things, but right now she could probably stand to get some of the normal fears back before she ended up doing something stupid and landing herself in the hospital.
And she did have a tendency to do stupid things.
"The only youkai that I knew about were pretty powerful and I never saw them scared of anything, so I just assumed. I'm definitely coming over to meet your pets though!"
no subject
"A lot of youkai are very powerful. But that doesn't mean they aren't scared of anything. Youkai have fear too. I can get scared but I don't feel fear. But that's because I can't feel a lot of emotions because my head broke. But that's okay. I have all sorts of other powers now."
She sat up, crawling over to her and sitting down next to her. "I bet you'll like my house. We have so many pets. Don't feed scribbles anything though or he'll never leave you alone. He's a greedy little raccoon and if he tries to steal crumbs you tap him on the nose and tell him no."
no subject
Yuri bounced lightly a few times after Koishi came to sit over. It wasn't anything that was going to send any kids flying, but it was keeping the movement going at least.
"Your head broke? Tap him on the nose? He doesn't bite?"
She'd never met a friendly raccoon before, but she honestly sounded a little excited about it. The rash of questions probably was a result of that.
no subject
Koishi blinked at the sudden onslaught of questions. "No. Scribbles doesn't bite. Well he doesn't bite hard. If you try to tickle his chin he'll make little sounds and try to nip your fingers but not hard.
She reached up to remove her hat, pulling up her bangs to reveal a very old and severe looking scar above her left temple. It matched the one on her third eye. "See? My head broke a long time ago. Now my focus sometimes goes slantways but that's okay. If that happens I'll find my head again and everything will be great."
no subject
She didn't have any special powers or magic, after all. When it came down to it, she was just a normal human now. It was hard to deal with sometimes.
Yuri leaned in to look at it a little closer, not seeming to be put off by it. She was dead, a scar isn't going to shock her.
"Ouch! That looks like it hurt. I'm glad you made it through it."
no subject
Koishi blinked. "Oh. Yeah it did hurt. But it didn't hurt as much as it did before I pulled it out." She reached down and touched the scar on her third eye. "The connection was feeding back so much. It would have killed me if I didn't cut it. So I pulled it out. But It's bad that it wasn't clean. But I'm okay now."
no subject
Because she kept kicking him off of rooftops-- but regardless, Yuri's just smiling at the thought.
"You should probably make sure that doesn't happen again."
no subject
At Yuri's second comment she tilted her head to the side, pursing her lips. "It can't happen again." She touched one of her looping arteries for emphasis. "I ripped out the connection between by eye and my head. So don't worry, okay?"
no subject
That sounded more than painful, but Yuri's had her fair share of painful experiences. There's nothing quite like taking a sword to your heart and still having to get the only people you have out without losing any more limbs than they already had. Or that time the stupid bunny girls from Battler's world strung her up. At least, those were the most physically painful things that Yuri remembered going through. There were a lot of other more psychological and emotional pains, but she wasn't counting those.
"I meant the injury that made you have to, that's all. The whole thing sounded like it hurt though."
