[Letter to Albus (Delivered by Phoenix Patronus) -]
As promised, here is your first letter. The potions I have been brewing for Mistress Kelpie have all failed. The first portion of the curse has been broken - as I told you - but the remaining parts are testing my patience. If I can't break them outright, I am planning on shifting the effects to another target. It would give her a respite. Of course that leaves me in an uncomfortable position, doesn't it? Who will bear her curse for a, hopefully, short while?
I can think of no one better than myself. Which means I need you to oversee the process. When it's time.
No, don't argue with me. I can already see your expression. Maybe some of your selflessness is rubbing off on me.
In better news, I think we should take our trip in the next week or so. There might be ingredients I haven't encountered yet in the wilds of Genessia.I might be hoping for a breakthrough so I don't need to torture myself.
Besides that, we need to get to know one another again. If you're amenable.I do think about you an unhealthy amount.

[A Dark Wizard should never look so innocent or at ease. But Gellert encompasses both descriptors as he sits against a tree in the Fayren forest. His golden curls are artfully tousled and there is an open journal in his lap. Notes are scribbled in both English and German on the pages - as well as pictures drawn by his hand.]
This is a long shot, but has anyone heard of liquid luck? [His nose wrinkles delicately and he sighs.] It's called Felix Felicis and it is a potion that is molten gold if it is brewed correctly. The ingredients I can recall are...
Ashwinder egg(s), squill bulb(s), murtlap tentacle(s), tincture of thyme, occamy eggshell(s) and powdered common rue.
Does any of that ring a bell?

[Figures the handsome, almost god like hunk would have heard of it.]

[It's a neat, rare potion and he knows the possibility of finding it is almost nil.]

Li's obviously been stealing things from her hunts again.]
..What's Liquid Luck? Why do you need it?
[What can she say? She's curious.]
[Action]
Will the cold bother you? [Where swimming is concerned. He scratches out something with his quill and summons an apple into his hand. After taking a bite and swallowing, he sighs.]
It would give me a head start in finding certain ingredients - if they exist in Genessia at all.
Re: [Action]
Not in the water. The Lakes in Ireland and Scotland are pretty cold. So is the ocean surrounding them.
[In other words, she had a pretty high cold tolerance in the water. Outside of it is a different story. She'll be feeling the cold once winter hits. There were reasons Li stayed in the desert when her curse prevented her from touching water.]
For the next test?
[That only seemed logical to her.]
[Action]
They would be. I've never visited Scotland proper. Not yet anyway.
[He blows a golden curl out of his eyes.]
Yes, but there is more to it. I told you I wanted to shift the curse onto another target. [A smile touches his lips.] That target is me.
Re: [Action]
When you get the chance, do. It's beautiful even if it can be cold and dreary sometimes.
[Was there any surprise that she's traveled all over her world in the last 300 years? Li was constantly searching for something to release her from this hell and for places to feed. Her mind was wandering back to the moors and lakes her kind used to roam when he said the next part.
Whatever pleasant thoughts came to a screeching halt when he uttered the next part and Li..twitched. Or at least her hand clenched hard around the towel as her head jerked slightly. The curse definitely didn't like the sound of that and she was.. concerned. ]
Do you really think that'll work?
[Will the curse even let him move it? Li shook her head slightly before pulling her knees up to her chest and pressing her forehead against them with a faint weary growl.]
...Not wishing this hell on anyone, Gellert. Especially not you.
[Action]
Albus would like for me to visit if we remain close. [If not, he will be giving Scotland a wide, wide berth. He has been traveling nonetheless - going back to Germany and traveling across Europe. Eventually he will go to the States, but not yet. He has to raise an army.
If he continues this war.]
It will inform me better about the parameters of your curse. [He smiles affectionately at her concern.] I've made my decision; you can't talk me out of it.
Re: [Action]
Maybe, or it might drive you insane fast that it's trying to do it to me.
[Li sighed and glanced at him. She just looked tired and knew there was probably no way of talking him out of this. Maybe his idea would help? It could be what he needed to gain the advantage and the thought of being her true self again.. The ache of being what she was supposed to be sounded deep in her chest despite the curse making itself known even more inside her head.]
Are you sure you can handle it? There's no telling what it might do to a human, even if that human's a wizard. And once it's moved to you, does that mean...
[She really didn't want to get her hope up if she wouldn't be able to..]
We'll be near water, right?

I appreciate your letter, even if you use it to send me messages that you know will worry me. I'll assist in however you wish me to, including overseeing whatever you have planned, though I am going to wish to know exactly what you are planning on doing. You are clever, Gellert, but you have your bouts of recklessness, and it will ease my concerns if I know what the particular plan you have is.
I'm more than amenable to the trip
particularly if it provides other means for ending this curse. Though please understand that I'm going to be fretting over you the entire span of our journey, given the situation.Sincerely,
Albus

I trust you can undo whatever mayhem I cause! Have some faith in yourself, Albus. The curse hasn't killed her or seriously maimed her. I think she and I are cut from similar cloth, so I should be able to withstand it.
All I am expecting is an increase in my temper. If that becomes overwhelming, you are welcome to stun me.
Then, hopefully, once I feel it for myself, I will have a better idea of how to kill it.
I will have a tent ready for us - all Charms in working order - and food. You just need to bring clothes and anything else you deem important.
- Gellert

While I appreciate your faith in me, that is not nearly as reassuring as you'd like it to be. Whatever it may or may not have done so far, it is still a curse, so please let me know what exactly you have in mind for this.
That said, if I have to stun you, I will. Or heal you, as the case may be.
I'll pack right away, then. I imagine it will be mainly clothes and books. I'd warn you that I will probably bring more books than necessary, but you know me too well to think otherwise.
Sincerely, Albus

In this reply, Gellert sends a scarf in Gryffindor colors. Enjoy.]
I plan to experience it with you close at hand. She, however, is free to enjoy the respite and we will take her to the water immediately. I expect she will regain her original form and I don't know what the state of her health will be. She won't be allowed to eat you, however, even if she is starving. She will know that.
Thank you.
I don't mind the books. We can read at night if we're not otherwise busy.
- Gellert

I'll look after her as well while this experiment occurs. Since this is all uncharted territory, I would not wish her to suffer or take ill as a result. (And I appreciate your attempts to keep me from being eaten.)
You're welcome. Please try not to make hexing you too preferable an option, however.
I would enjoy that. We've not yet had the pleasure of reading together here, have we? We'll need to remedy that on our journeys.
Sincerely,
Albus

The point is to make her quality of life infinitely better. I can't do that without understanding the curse intimately. I've tried potions and altering spells, but whoever cast the damn thing didn't want her ever being free of it.
I am in your hands.
No, we haven't. By candlelight, under a blanket with the rain falling in sheets outside...
- Gellert

I'll take care of you well, then. You know I would never do otherwise.
Or in the grass, laying on top of a blanket, under a sunny sky, perhaps?
Sincerely, Albus
