[video] Halloween Curse shenanigans

Well, I have to admit, this has been a very curious morning.

[Albus Dumbledore is sitting in a chair in front of a small table ~~in a place that is not his normal living quarters shhhh~~ and looking at his own hand with a small, mischievous look on his face.

There's nothing in his hand, until his smears his thumb over his palm and a small hard candy appears. He raises his hand up and drops into the palm of his other hand. And then drops another hard candy, and another. And then he releases a candy cane, and a lollipop, and a roll of taffy, letting them accumulate in a small pile on a table in front of him, each item appearing out of thin air.

It's almost like watching a magician pull a trick, except his sleeves are rolled up, and he doesn't have his wand.

He seems utterly delighted by this, his eyes shining with even more mischief than normal.]

Tell me, would anyone be interested in some candy?

((OOC: Dumbledore is now a deity! Specifically the deity of sweets.))

[His expression intensifies and he covers Albus's hand with his own.]

We need to look out for them.

[Albus turns his hand to entwine their fingers, squeezing them together.]

And we will. We will not let them run off with scoundrels. But they will know the match for their own souls better than we could.

[He exhales shakily and he is reminded starkly of their pact.]

Albus, I'm a scoundrel and you ran off with me. Only to have your heart broken.

[He tilts his face, looking at Gellert with a soft gaze.]

And yet look at how far we've come, love.

I'm not sure I could allow them to suffer as you did...

As I did.

[Who is a protective parent now? Gellert feels his heart ache at the look and he kisses Albus softly.]

[Albus' heart aches slightly in turn, and he return the kiss gently, stroking Gellert's face in his hands.]

We'll do what we can for them. They may not need to go through the same trials their fathers did.

[Gellert hums and embraces Albus around his waist, wanting him close.]

They won't because we know how to guide them; we know those pitfalls.

[Albus wears a small smile, though it is somewhat pensive even as he gazes on Gellert.]

Children will do as they wish. We would not be the first parents to advise their children and be ignored.

[He frowns and looks distinctly unhappy.]

Even our girl? [No, no, he won't be a doting father at all.]

[Albus chuckles at that, seeing through to Gellert's protectiveness so clearly. Oh, Gellert, he will have such a tough time when their children grow into teenagers.

Pressing a kiss to Gellert's face, he smiles slightly.]

Especially the girl. Girls can be the most rebellious of them all.

[He will become too attached to their little babies. Teenagers are different beasts and he will expect to be obeyed. That will go well. It really, really will ~~not~~.]

Can they? But they seem so sweet.

[~~Oh noooo Gellert behaaaaave~~]

Many people think they are, but they can be just as wild and rowdy as any boy might be. They are all sorts, just as the boys are.

I'm not sure I'm entirely prepared to parent an almost grown child.

But you see them daily back home, don't you?

You don't have to be. The whole idea is that you raise them from a young age and transition into adolescence with them so that you learn along the way.

[Squeezing Gellert in his arms, he answers:] I have, very regularly for a number of years.

...I suppose that's true. But I don't want to regret them not being little children anymore.

[Babies, he means. Babies he can carry around while he experiments.]

You like them well enough despite their mischief.

[Albus smiles fondly at that, pressing a kiss to Gellert's face and looking at him in adoration.]

I think it is normal to be sad when they grow. You would not be the first father to feel so.

[Running his hand over Gellert's back, he answers:]

I admit, I have learned to enjoy having my students around, even in spite of their mischief.

[He flushes and blinks, a little surprised by Albus's reaction. Gellert knows he is being ridiculous - of course children grow - but he likes the idea of babies.]

Do you like them small? Why is that such an appealing size?

[Besides them being adorable.]

Maybe I'm meant for a nursery.

I do like them small. I think it's because they're so small and precious and rely on us so much -- we want to protect them and care for them because of it.

[Chuckling, he noses at Gellert's face, adding:]

Perhaps so. Perhaps you have missed your calling to watch over infants all your days.

[He makes a face and huffs.]

Albus love, I hope I am meant for more than dirty diapers.

[HOWEVER...]

Our babies are different. I won't leave them uncomfortable.

[Especially if they want to sleep on his chest. That's absolutely fine.]

[Albus laughs outright at that, gleeful at Gellert's huffing, though he leans in and presses a kiss to his cheek.]

Fair enough. All parents are meant to love their own children best, anyway. We will take excellent care of them.

[He is surprised into a smirk, his eyes closing for a moment at the kiss.]

I love you, Albus. Leaving two darlings that act like us to the world seems like a gift.

[Albus nuzzles against Gellert's face fondly, grinning a little.]

And I love you in turn. Though I imagine leaving the world two darlings like us will also cause such havoc.

Good. The world needs a little havoc. [His eyes flash mischievously and cups Albus's face between his hands.] It is such a shame that they won't have your eyes or your smile, though.

[He smiles at the gestures, reaching up to wrap his fingers around Gellert's wrists where they meet his face.]

It's all right. There will be so much more of myself that I can give them to inherit.

[Gellert tucks his head against Albus's neck, his thumb stroking his cheek.]

I will love them too much for that alone. We must ensure I don't spoil them.
