[ Regan is using her device today to introduce herself to the town at large and she looks a lot better than she did before. For starters, her clothing is new and her hair is tied back in two semi messy French braids. And she’s in a bedroom that’s starting to show signs of a young girl living in it. To her left on the desk she’s propped her device on, a white board and colorful erasable markers. To the right? A pile of cochlear devices. She picks up the whiteboard and scribbles out a message for all to read. ]
Hi! My name is Regan. I’ve only been in town for a couple weeks and I have a question.
[ Erasing that message, she writes a newer and slightly longer second one. ]
I was born deaf, so I use American Sign Language to communicate. Back home, I had a lot of people in my life who understood it and could communicate back. But here? I don’t have as many. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in learning so that I had more people I could talk to?
[ Its really not a bad idea, honestly. She gives people time to read that one and then writes again. ]
I also need a job. I have no idea what I could do or anything done I haven’t had a job before. So if anyone has anything a deaf thirteen year old might enjoy, please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Video + Text!!!
[ She's not so sure about this, but she trusts and likes Rose and The Doctor. So it can't be terrible, right? It's nothing that'd hurt her. She's sure of it. ]
Re: Video + Text!!!
But I need more free time. Both Doctors and Jack get on my case about working too hard.
And we need someone to help run interference with L3 and act as a liaison for androids.
And we need someone to test and promote things like cell phone apps for speech to text or games. And Vitex. I wish my Dad was here for that. Ah that might be a little out of your expertise, but we need someone who can help taste weird flavors to decide if it's any good.
Video + Text!!! (AAAAAAA SAD ICON BY ACCIDENT I AM SORRY)
[ She is very much so teasing with this, but she's grinning all the same. This sounds super intriguing to her. ]
Video + Text!!! (NAH IT'S CUTE)
I mean, there's a little more to it. You have to write up papers and look for flaws. And telling the Doctor that his ideas are wildly impractical means he gives you the WORST puppy dog pout so you have to be really strong to keep telling him no!
And promoting stuff is a total hassle sometimes! Because you deal with people who can be kind of annoying, but if you're really clever, you can make it work for you instead and make it fun! [Winks.]
Re: Video + Text!!! (i love this cr. oh my god.)
I can be clever.
[ She hopes, at least. She wants to be clever for this job. She's silent, after a fashion, for a moment or two before texting again, one eyebrow raised and uncertainty plain on her young face. ]
I don't know how useful I'd be in a haunted house. It's partly atmospheric noise and creepy music, right? That's part of the appeal? My devices only let me hear so much, due to how my inner ears are.
[ Her way of saying her still-limited hearing isn't The Doctor's fault at all. She was born this way. She's just happy she hears at all. ]
But the rest of it, I can do. And I can do ASL tutoring on the side. Right?
Video + Text!!! XDDD Yay!
Nah, that's the point. We have Matt in there sometimes too, and he's blind. One sense isn't enough for everything, and you're probably pretty tuned into vibrations, right? Or is that the problem? But we've had people with completely different senses too, not just vampires, but like demons, and skeletons, and fishmen, or ghosts! So I want to make it versatile but not... damaging. Which I kind of did. A bit. At first. That's why we had to suggest vampires not do it anymore. I went a little overboard. I'm bad like that.
You definitely can! I run Torchwood alongside Jack, but I also work as Teacher's Assistant for the Doctor, Professor, and Trunks helps us a lot, but he also works for Capsule Corp which is his Mum's company. And Matt has another client than just us, I think. Although I put him through a LOT! [Laughs!] He's a lawyer, so between patents, and making sure everything is on the up and up, and doing civil rights stuff, we keep him busy.
Re: Video + Text!!!
[ She believes it. This is just fact-checking. ]
I think that text-to-speech thing would help me out in talking to him.
[ Essentially, she wants to meet him. ]
If it's okay with you and everyone else, I'd like to take the job.
Re: Video + Text!!!
And no worries! You're hired! Jack does security, I do hirings. And since you can basically be my assistant on top of testing things, you'll only have me as your boss, okay?
But if the Doctor says to do something, it's for your own safety usually. Or at least someone else's. So if he says to duck or hold things, it's best to do it, and then figure out what he's up to. And it's more fun that way.
Re: Video + Text!!! (*sighing at herself* sorry)
I'll listen. I'm good at that. Thank you so much! How much does this job pay, so I know what to tell my guardian when we talk about this later?
