Welcome
Though the evening outside is chilly, there’s nothing but warmth and lively atmosphere inside. The room itself (the ballroom atop the self proclaimed ‘most romantic and luxurious’ Genessian getaway) is almost blinding, glittering with gold from floor to ceiling, save for the towering framed windows that provide a beautiful sight of the city below. Tables are scattered here and there around the perimeter should attendees wish to rest their feet, but the centerpiece of the evening seems to be the massive, sparkling chandelier casting its warm, golden glow over a rather extensive dance floor. One end of the room is reserved for the band, poised just near the hearth featuring a roaring fire, while the other showcases a grand staircase on which one may make their entrance, should they choose to explore the upper lofts that surround the room beforehand.

Early in the evening, once the room has begun to fill, a couple steps up to welcome everyone on behalf of Genessia’s Performing Arts Center and the cast of their most recent musical. While the event is free, and they are delighted to be able to share a magnificent evening of splendor with everyone, they do wish to make everyone aware that should they choose to donate tonight, be it through benevolent gift or through the auction or gambling tables, all proceeds will be donated to the Red House Foundation- more specifically, Genessia’s branch, located in the heart of the city herself.
The call to enjoy the masquerade is punctuated with a deep bow and the swell of the band picking up once more to lead everyone into a night of majestic merriment.


Photos
With numerous celebrities about and the event in full swing, it’s to no one’s surprise that there are photographers practically crawling the place. Fortunately for all, quite a few have been hired by the event planning team and will be snapping moments (both candid and posed) of everyone in attendance. There’s even a designated area with various props to play with and a lovely backdrop doused in gold. These photos can be downloaded from the network later, so take advantage of these professionals, should your heart desire! After all, did one really look their best if there’s no photo to prove it?


Dancing
While there’s certainly no pop star performing and the music is much more classically suited, one will hear a familiar tune more often than not, spun by the tuxedo clad musicians to suit a more modern crowd. It’s upbeat and energetic for the most part, but every so often, they're likely to switch the mood to something much smoother (dare they say, romantic?) to sway to. Instructors are scattered throughout the crowd, should those unfamiliar with the ballroom style wish to learn something new!


Food
A party without food is absurd, regardless of the occasion. Drink flows readily from the bar, and an impressive variation of hors d’oeuvre has been laid out in a brilliant spread on the long tables along the edges of the room. Partake as you will, and leave a donation to show your appreciation if you’re so inspired!


Costume Parade
What’s the point of a masquerade without an outfit promenade? Show off your inspired attire to all who will gaze upon you. The more flamboyant, the more attention your costume will draw, and the more in-character one seems, the more believable the evening will be- Embrace the masks and let loose! Tonight is the night to be whoever (or whatever) your heart desires.


Gambling/Auction
Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, there are multiple donated items on which to bid, ranging from weekend getaways to baskets of sweets to… rather peculiar fashion and odd home decor.
To the right of the auction display, there are multiple gaming tables with waiting croupier, ready to assist those with heavy wallets attempt to woo Lady Luck. The winnings (should there be any) can be kept or donated- the choice is yours.


Gardens
If one finds a need to escape the swirling of dance and swell of the music, the gardens below may serve you well. There’s a lovely courtyard, and just beyond the fountain, a garden maze, well lit for the season with the gentle glow of dazzling lights. Take a stroll alone, or hide away with a lover or confidant, or snag a seat for the fireworks- the choice is yours.


Fireworks
No grand gala ever ended without a burst of excitement to round out the evening. Toward the end of the evening, the sky will be lit with a brilliant display of silvers and golds, all timed perfectly with the band’s final performance. One can watch from the gardens or the rooftop, or, if in need of something more ~private~, the balconies throughout the hotel.

Food

Jezebel is not the sort of person who enjoys parties. At all. He was required to do so at times as part of his work while he was living, but now that he's dead and away from all that, he very quickly remembers how much he found them to be Not His Style. It should be very apparent to anyone looking at him, given that he wears a basic black domino mask and his normal clothes, the easiest outfit he thought he could get away with.

He keeps an eye out for Cassian as he slowly fills his plate with anything vegetarian available. At least the food seems fine enough. As an afterthought, he plucks two flutes of champagne and carries them with him as he seeks out a quiet corner.

Gardens

He feels a little more at ease in the gardens, where things are quieter and less crowded. Even if the occasional giggling couple passes by on their way to find a remote corner of the maze, that's manageable enough. Jezebel can simply keep to himself until he wants to leave -- presumably no one will know or care if he sneaks out early.

The array of food had been the most alluring thing in the room to Gren. He arrived with an empty stomach, emboldening an appetite that would surely have no qualms in indulging. The warm platters expelled ribbons of steam that curled at him like a beckoning finger and his hunger heeded the call without hesitation.

He’s making his way to the spread now, his focus and his feet convening in an effort to quickly get him to that glimmering, silver bowl heaping with meatballs. His attention was seized by the potential of gluttony and the fact was obvious as he nearly collides with a man carrying his own plate of food and two flutes of champagne. “Oh, sorry.” He notes the two flutes, certain that the other man was taking them to his date but he utilizes their presence playfully. The jest is merely an attempt to dispel the mild embarrassment he feels for nearly trampling the poor man on his path to a feeding frenzy. “Someone’s thirsty.”

Dancing

Dumbledore is, admittedly, enjoying this very much. Most of the parties he's attended in his normal life have been school functions, ones where he is expected to chaperone teenagers and be generally responsible. It's a bit nice to not have to worry about such things, especially since it gives him the opportunity to dress up -- in this case, in a dapper gray suit and an intricate gold mask.

He stays by the dance floor, listening to music and drinking in the sounds of it, while also watching as the dancers pair up and whirl about the floor.


Gardens

He decides to take a slight break from the party to peruse the gardens, looking over the plants with curiosity and admiration. Normally, he would be tempted to attempt the maze, but the numbers of paired-off partygoers suggests that that might not be wise, so instead he just takes a quiet walk, enjoying the relative peace before the fireworks are underway.

She is going through the gardens herself, feeling remarkably strange, the potion still stirring in her stomach. Her nerves are strung taut, like the strings of a guitar, as much as she dislikes the metaphor, but she's finding some distraction in the sensation of cold that graces her bare shoulders and runs prickling fingers up her arms.

She felt it once fleetingly not a few weeks ago, but here, right now, in this fleshy body she hasn't seen for many years, it feels even richer-- as if a part of her is remembering how it was to be young.

The sight of someone else startles her and her fingers fly to her throat where he pulse beats in time with the imaginary heart. But it is, at least, a face she recognizes, even if he might not recognize her.

"Señor." She nods. "It's good to see you again."

[Wearing masks and fancy outfits? What more could be asked for from our local masked person who is definitely not Sync? They even went so far to go with the bold choice of wearing a dress for the event that had caught their fancy in the window of a shop. Stepping into the event, excitement crept up their spine, they were ready for a full night of fun and excitement. ]

[1. Dancing]

[You can definitely catch them on the dancefloor, waltzing away with whoever wanted to dance with them. Wearing a suit or a dress didn't seem to make a difference as they changed pace effortlessly. It wasn't hard to tell that this one had training in dancing. Come be their partner for a spell? ]

[2. Costume Parade]

[The spotlight is just not for them for this event, instead, they are watching the different outfits in admiration. How can so many beautiful and wonderful things be all in one room? ]

[3. Gambling]

[While they are not usually a gambler, tonight seemed to be a special exception for them. You can find them watching the tables in admiration or at a table giving a game a try and blowing on dice for those who request it. ]

[4. Gardens]

[After a bit of having fun inside, they took a step outside to find a whole new adventure, though a bit calmer. You can find them walking around admiring the light or playing in the maze trying to find their way out. ]

[well, seeing as he has nothing much better to do and this is, in a way, why he came here tonight; he might as well. When the music begins he inclines his head toward the masked person, since they are standing the closest]

Food

Graverobber likes parties, he really does, but this is definitely a far more fancy one than he's ever attended before. Still, hey, he has no complaints -- free food and booze! But he admittedly didn't put too much effort into dressing up, wearing his normal clothes and an industrial punk-ish half-mask for the theme.

He skips over the dancing and photos and heads straight for the food and drink, loading up a plate as high as he can with hors d'ouevres before snagging some champagne. Graverobber has every intention to mingle, of course, but he's also got every intention of taking advantage of the grub, too.

Gambling/Auctions

Ah, the curse of working at a casino -- the gambling den looks pretty tempting. He knows he has zero chance at the auction (and the prizes up for grabs are not exactly his aesthetic), but could a round of cards really hurt?

So he lingers outside the tables and watches a few rounds, weighing his options. He's not a man with a heavy wallet, granted, but maybe one round...?

Enter Faye, who appears not to have noticed Graverobber in the groups of people standing around tables. She has certainly dressed up for the occasion in a beautiful black evening gown, revealing in a way that was elegant, with a pretty red and black mask to match. Faye takes her seat in between two men, who also appear to have noticed the cut of her dress, again when she crosses her legs to reveal them with the slit up the side. She smiles swetly to the man on her left and touches his arm as the cards are shuffled, "Remind me how to play this game again?"

I. Lights, Camera, ACTION! - Augustine & Rip

[If there's one thing that Augustine loves, it's a good party. This masquerade event is probably the best idea that the cast of their upcoming performance could make. A good majority of the revenue will of course go to charity which is the best part about this entire affair. However, what Augustine loves the most about this grand event is the chance to dress in his finest attire. He's not shy. In fact, he's quite eager to gain his fifteen minutes worth of fame. For good or ill, Augustine thrives on this kind of attention. His previous life as some mild-mannered acolyte didn't suit him well. He much rather be upon a stage enthralling thousands than sitting within the gloomy cloisters of some grand cathedral. So instead of shooing away the paprazzai, he puts on a good show.

As one would expect, Augustine does have Rip by his side. He wasn't about to leave her out of all the fun, especially since he refused to arrive here alone. It would be a terrible affair if he didn't bring his lover with him to enjoy the glitz and glamour. After all, someone needs to keep him in check. Augustine tends to get too enthralled by the glamour of it all and Rip keeps him grounded.

Augustine's attire this evening truly captures the mystique of his role as the Phantom of the Opera. He's dressed in a handsomely tailored black brocade suit adorned with a bright red cravat to brighten up all that black. The suit jacket itself has little silver embroidery along the front much like the sterling silver buttons traveling down the front of the waistcoat. While Augustine indeed matches this all off with a lovely black and red cloak, it's the decorative ivory half-mask that wins most of the attention. The mask itself is clearly custom made due to the fine gold etchings upon it. It's a beautiful centerpiece, not too gaudy or too plain. Just right for this kind of flamboyant affair. Augustine is quite proud of his attire this evening.

Nevertheless, once he grows bored of posing for the camera, Augustine will try to curb Rip towards the ballroom. He's not about to stand outdoors all evening.]


II. "Shall We dance?"

[Now this certainly is more Augustine's speed. In a world obsessed with pop stars and goofy looking boy bands, it's good to hear the sweet lull of a live band. It takes Augustine back to another time, a happier one before everything went to hell in a hand basket. Honestly, it's been awhile since he last indulged in an elaborate party like this and while he certainly means to take to the dance floor, Augustine has a glass of wine he rather nurse first. He's never been one for champagne, so he quickly turned that down it was offered but the wine? Of course he accepted the wine.

With a glass of red in one hand, Augustine prowls the dance-floor for anyone willing to humor him for awhile. He has a few victims he means to pester into dancing with him this evening, some of which are the wallflowers present at the dance hall. However, he's not picky.]

Excuse me---[There's a slight tap.] But would you care for a dance?

[He asks with such a pleasant smile upon his lips.]

A Private Dance for Two - Locked to Rip

[However, there's no better partner for Augustine to dance with other than his beloved date. So after having his fill of socializing with others, Augustine makes his way back to Rip with such a grin upon his face.]

Excuse me, my dear. [He greets her with a proper bow before asking for hand.] Would like to honor me with the next dance, Rip?

[His grin widens some.]

It's been awhile since we've enjoyed ourselves like this.

III. "A Grand Feast"

[Did you really think he wasn't going to attack the d’oeuvres? Augustine doesn't eat much usually but he's hellbent in sampling everything. The dhampir lightly grazes on a few finger foods but seems more fond of the wine selection. While he's not drunk enough to try his hand at swinging from the elaborate chandelier above, Augustine certainly is a tad tipsy after four glasses of wine. He literally already had a full bottle of red by now and shouldn't be considering anymore but this is Augustine here.

The dhampir never knows when to quit and apparently is a rather flirtatious drunk.]

So are you going to actually greet me or are you just going to keep staring, darling?

[He says with such a smirk as he keeps sipping his glass.]

Come now, don't be shy. I don't bite...much.


IV. "What a fine costume, Christine!" - To Dove

[What's the point of having a costume party without getting into role? Augustine takes this moment to get right into character and quickly seeks out dear "Christine" for this little performance. Of course Dove is busy attending to her own affairs here but the poor woman will suddenly have her hand snatched by none other than the Phantom himself.]

Sing once again with me our strange duet~ [Dove should be able to recognize this line. It's from the play, of course.] My power over you grows stronger yet. And though you turn from me to glance behind, The Phantom of the Opera is there, inside your mind.

[Oh boy, he's leading her out towards the opening for all to see. Augustine is definitely making a grand spectacle here. Why wouldn't he? He's the frickin' Phantom.]


V. A Gambler's Luck

[Guess who's bad at poker? This moody bastard right here. Augustine stares at his hand of cards with a look of pure disgust since he's losing yet another game here. See, Augustine has many wondrous skills but he's a laughably terrible gambler. Especially when it's his chips on the line. He may or may not be pouting now since he keeps losing time and time again much to his dismay.]

You know, I...I don't really want that moose upon the wall. [Augustine confesses with a somewhat reluctant expression.] I was merely joking when I claimed to be good at this game.

Maybe Blackjack better suits me.

[No, it doesn't.]


VI. Late Night within the Garden

[Once all the lights, the dancing and excitement becomes far too much for him to handle, Augustine retreats to the gardens. It's peaceful outside, very peaceful. The tranquility out here under the stars is a far cry from the excitement inside. He's grateful for this little reprieve from the limelight, clearly tired given that he sitting down at one of benches overlooking the fountain. Augustine managed to snatch a full bottle of wine earlier, so he may or may not be inelegantly taking a swig of it.

He's that damn tired right now. Let him drink in peace, please.]

[Standing next to him on the red carpet was definitely interesting to say the least. Rip's own dress, mask and jewelry meant to contrast against her lover in a way that also seemed to compliment each other was well. Which always seemed to work for them.

While Augustine was eating up the attention, Rip was at his side, arm slipped through his and looking almost innocently elegant with her own natural way. She was going to let him have his fifteen minutes of fame on the red carpet and make sure the cameras made them both look good.]

[If asked about it beforehand, Gale would have been rather blunt on saying "No," that he would not be attending the event. Which, for someone who spends all of his time partying anyway, seems pretty off for him. He'd say he has work to do at the Skyrise and drop the conversation.

In reality, he actually did attend, just with the grandest mask of all- not even wearing his face for it. He would attend the event as his alter ego Kharon, in an odd attempt to have some kind of under cover fun without the draw of being... well... Gale. Stealing that holo-disguising device from home was one of the best moves he'd ever made, clearly.

So here's an unfamiliar blond man stylishly dressed with a matching mask at the event. Don't mind that sheathed rapier at his side. He has no intention of using it, Kharon just doesn't leave home without it.]


[I. Gambling]

[Gale, of course, wouldn't be partaking of the auction (not when those atrocities against fashion are up there). Or leaving any sizable donations anywhere. With the amount of money he makes, that would be a giveaway that he was there. No, instead he's sitting amongst the gamblers, having some pretty killer luck. He's at least getting enjoyment out of knocking the wind out of the sails of cocky gamblers who think Lady Luck is theirs for the taking. His luck, of course, isn't stellar either, but he's been gaining more than he's been losing.

Not that he care to win one way or the other. He makes more money than he knows what to do with.]


[II. Photos]

[Who's dodging cameras like they're out to steal his soul? This guy. If there's no where to dodge and he feels the lens of a camera upon him, the photographer may find their camera's lens frosting over while receiving a nasty side glare from Kharon.]

Don't.


[III. Drinks]

[Alas. Ignoring the call of mixing drinks just isn't in his nature anymore. He'll be there to make drinks for a short while, including making a few that any regulars might recognize as some drinks specifically from Gale Force locations. Especially when he lights one drink on fire.

Of course, he's got an excuse at the ready if he gets asked about those drinks in specific. Gale sent Kharon in his place, duh.

He won't be here for very long. Better get him before he walks off if any of those he already made seemed appetizing.]


[IV. Gardens]

[Coming here was a mistake. He needed to get out at this point. Maybe not leave entirely, but for once in his life, being around so many people was just grating at him. So he ducks out of the main establishment to hide amongst the garden walls with a drink in one hand and his phone in the other.

Apparently he came to a pretty establishment just to play Candy Crush. In silence.]

IV

*Nearby was someone else who'd spent a little more time at this event than she had attended. She'd planned on making some gambling wins, which she did, but she had not intended speaking to others or actually socialising. So Faye was outside in the gardens, enjoying the fresh air as she wandered around and admired the space as she sipped on a glass of champagne.

But she soon realised that these gardens were just too romantic, a place much better suited for couples. Ready to leave before she's found on her own, Faye rounds the corner quickly and ends up standing face to face suddenly with a man who appeared to be playing a game on his phone*

Welcome
The party truly is stunning. Even Dove herself seems a little surprised at the extravagance of it as she makes her entrance and stands by the directors while they welcome the crowd to the event. It’s obvious at first glance that she (or someone rather involved with her public image) has taken care to suit her attire to the occasion. In a gown of deep red, she certainly makes for a lovely statement piece among the cast, hair swept back into a simple low crown so only wisps of curls frame her face. A rose in a delicate sparkling mask of deep gold and diamonds, she keeps an elegant smile cast over the crowds until the directors wrap up their little speech. There’s an expected charming laugh, lost under the swell of the music when the musicians start up their piece, as she takes the arm of her escort to lead her down to the dance floor.

She’s never been more grateful for a mask in her life, and only hopes her own will hold up throughout the evening.

Photos
At the start, she doesn’t seem at all phased by the flashing of lights here and there throughout the evening, though staying poised just in case seems to be taking more of a toll on her than usual. Not that it shows to a sweeping glance. It’s her job, after all, but she’s more than willing to pose with her friends or fans should any be in attendance. The Photo Booth is intriguing, and despite her more reserved disposition toward the beginning of the evening, she’s genuinely happy to please.

Dancing
Silently wishing her gown wasn’t so elaborate, she watches the instructors teach those who approach and ask for a quick lesson. The laughter makes her grin as each person does their best, even as memories of her first ball dance alongside them.

While her dress is… a lot, she’s more than happy to accept any dance she’s offered. It’s instinctual, the way she moves, and perhaps the happiest one might catch her all evening.

Wandering/Auctions
Glass of wine in hand, Dove can be caught peering over the items at the auction, a severely confused look on her face as she notes a few of the options, or simply wandering through the room, admiring the artistry of the costumes in reserved silence.
Of course, should anyone catch her eye, they’ll be rewarded with a warm and inviting smile.

Gardens/Maze
In need of quieter asylum, Dove retires to the gardens for a while, the moment she’s able to slip away unnoticed. For a bit, she simply lingers in the courtyard, finally letting down her guard and releasing the breath she’s held all night. When others make their way down to enjoy the site themselves, she disappears into the maze, a cloak of even deeper red wrapped about her shoulders to ward off the evening chill. For now, she’ll just enjoy the warmth of the lights and the calming effect of the glow about her. Absently, she’ll run her fingers along the hedge wall as she walks, leaving slowly blooming roses in her wake. An easy and harmless release of pent up emotion, she can only hope the gardeners won’t mind.

Gardens

Imelda is sitting on one of the benches, both enjoying and annoyed at the novelty of cold. She is freezing, hands clasped between her knees to keep them warm though that does nothing for her shoulders and the back of her neck. She doesn't know whether it's the potion which makes things so biting or just the young flesh she currently has.

Either way, she can't help but admire the beautiful woman she sees not too far away who makes a pretty picture in the night. Though mostly, what strikes her, is the cloak. It is gorgeous and also seems very warm.

Then she notices the roses and it's difficult to tell whether it is an illusion or not.

"Are you doing that?"

[The party don't start 'till the Nohrians walk in. And here's one of them now. Ever dressed in elegance with a mask that sports a very Nohrian look, Leo is here to get his first glimpse at a Genessian party.

... he just doesn't notice right away that his collar is on inside out.]

[I. Dancing & Music]

[After a short time of being there, Leo is looking over the band carefully. After a song, he'll soon make his approach and strikes up a brief conversation with them. With a nod, the piano player vacates his seat for Leo to take his place. Just for this one song, because Leo doesn't care to be up there the entire night. With the accompaniment of the band, Leo steals the piano show with one song, to add a bit more energy to this place. Afterward, he gives his thanks to the band and walks away.

But, it wouldn't be proper if a prince of Nohr wasn't doing a couple waltzes on the dance floor himself. He backs off occasionally to watch others from a distance, but chances are, he won't say no to another dance or two. Depends on who asks him. Who here is confident enough to get a dance with a prince?


[II. Photos & Parade]

[By now, Leo's noticed that his collar was inside out (Gods damn it!) and was quick to fix it. Luckily, in time for photos and the parade. Now that his dumb mistake has been fixed, he continues to carry that air of grace and confidence (he is a prince, after all). It was also fortunate that he'd been here a few months now and has had time to grasp the tech of this world, otherwise he'd be side eyeing those cameras. Not that he would have believed the stories of the soul sucking devices. Of course not.]


[III. Wandering/Wildcard]

[Leo can be found all around throughout the night. Maybe he's looking at the auction items (some in disgust), or he's wandering the garden maze. You never know where you'll pull him over at.]

You only dancing with girls tonight?

[Uai can't tail Azura all night. When Uai has a free moment that aligns with Leo's, he teasingly approaches and offers a hand. It doesn't matter to Uai is they're both boys.]

I'm not quite royalty, but I'm pretty good at this type of dancing.

Food and Drink

Faye arrived later than most, her decision to attend made close to the starting time. She had therefore just slipped in when everything as underway, hoping to go largely unnoticed. Which was maybe possible, but maybe not, considering her elegant choice of black ball gown choice of black ball gown and the pretty decorative red and black mask red and black mask she wore. She had arrived alone, but had clearly gone to some effort with her appearance for the evening. That was half the fun, after all. On arrival, Faye scanned the area to assess the situation, and to find where the champagne was at. Once a bar was located, Faye would make her way immediately there to seek a glass.

Gambling

As far as Faye was concerned, this was the main event. Faye's specialities were poker and black jack, and she had every intention of winning high at both.

Towards the start of the evening, Faye played the innocent sweetheart. She would appear to stumble and be unsure of what was happening, ask about the rules, make seemingly giveaway noises. But Faye knew exactly what she was doing. Frustrating if you're a table playing against her, but probably entertaining to watch.

Later in the evening, Faye couldn't get away with such a performance anymore, so she played like the best of them - sharp, silent, keeping track of the cards with a poker face. It would be interesting to see how things would go with her better rivals. As it was, Faye already had a good stack of cash behind her.


Choose Your Own Adventure

Between gambling games, for a bit of a breather, Faye would grab a glass of champagne and take it towards the gardens with the aim of some peace, quiet, and cool air. As she walked from room to room, that might be the ideal to intercept her and to say hello.

She has, in fact, not a small amount of his money in front of her, but he doesn't seem too perturbed by losing. In fact e seems to take it as a matter of course. He arranges the cards in his hands It's, at least, later on in the evening and he's impressed by her card sharking abilities.

Ten is spending a bit of time scrolling by himself in the garden this time around. It's not really to do with the Tardis being parked there. It's him. Completely him and how he's changed since he's died.

He can hear the laughter and music from the inside and it feels strange not running over to that, grabbing a banana and having his tie over around his head. He doesn't like this - him.

Sitting on a bench is flopped completely over; it's going to take some time and even then it won't be exactly either.

At some point in the evening, The Doctor will be getting himself lost in the garden maze.

long blonde hair was charmed to fit into the handmade hairpiece (thanks to an outing the prior night for the red feathers) and her dress seemed to mirror the blonde's personality since she also made it (well made some minor fixes since she's 5'2). She's also a very social creature and is happily social. Her wand however is safely tucked into her handbag.

However she does wander into the gardens at some point to track what she's sure was a moon frog. Its not but she does have to take a look around anyway, Who knows what creatures can be found in a place like this?

It's been a long night for Doc. He knows he's spent too long hiding away behind his work, and getting out there again won't be easy, but he still isn't prepared for how big and bright everything is. He's still getting a grip when he encounters Thea again, smiling.

For reasons her own, and with help from a dubious potion obtained in Fayren, Imelda is looking decidedly fleshy. She has spent entirely too much money on a dress, mask, earrings necklace, and of course shoes, though these she'd made herself.

Regardless of her stomach churning with nerves, she is ready to make something of herself here. Though what, she's not sure.


I. Dancing or Lurking

She mostly stays by the wall, looking stiff and uncomfortable and frowning every once in a while as a new song begins to play. She is determined to rid herself of this foolish emotion knotting her gut and so will likely take offers to dance, but feel free to strike up conversation, too.

II. Buffet Table

She usually has a glass of some sort of alcohol in her hand as she picks her way through the buffet table. Though she seems to eat like a bird, observers will note that she wants to taste everything and eats quite a lot over a long period of time. There is also a particular plate of cheeses that she keeps gravitating back to and trying not to scowl at anyone else in her way.

III. Garden

When she's had enough of pushing herself, she'll intermittently go outside to freeze herself instead. Though on one hand she enjoys the new sensation, for any sensation is better than none, she is also shivering violently most of the time. That doesn't stop her from wandering through the maze or watching passersby from a solitary bench.

Do you want to dance? He's going to ask everyone in eyesight, man or woman or undecided or other; and accept offers readily, too. He's obviously living it up.

Lea had been looking over the various options at the buffet. Some of them he recognized, and some of them he really didn't. He'd been examining some vaguely cube shaped things on toothpicks for a long moment before he realized there was someone behind him trying to get at the tray.

He moved over a bit with a muttered apology til he noticed who exactly it was he'd moved over for. He smiled. "Well, fancy meeting you here, Professor," he said.

A. Costume Parade [OTA]
While Mavis didn't dislike being a vampire, far from it - she rather enjoyed herself during the Halloween event - she's kind of glad it's over. Because she can eat what she wants again and because the sharp canines wouldn't have gone too well with her costume. She asked Erza and Mira to help her tie her long blond hair into braids, and she put flowers in her hair instead of her usual wing hair clips. She's wearing a mask, of course, but still no shoes.

She's blushing a little under her mask but still manage to smile proudly as she walks among the other people in costume. She has to make her guildmates proud and who knows, she mighgt win a prize? occasionally she spins around to make her dress fly a little and waves at people she thinks she recognizes.

B. Dancing [Closed to Zeref]
Mavis still remembers the last time they danced together at a similar ball. She's missed that. So when she notices the dancefloor, she practically drags Zeref there. Surely, an 'empress' would have more manners but tonight Mavis is just a young woman who's excited to have the opportunity to dance with her boyfriend.

She holds out her hand to him. "Shall we? We still have plenty of time before the fireworks start."

C. Gardens [OTA]
Mavis is just walking around enjoying the garden. She stops by the fountain and touches the water with the tip of her fingers. She lets out a happy sigh. "What a lovely night!"

Hopefully the costume wasn't based on best disguise because Rose was definitely obvious in her wolf mask and not even remotely matching rose dress. "Ahh!!! You look so cute!" she squealed to Mavis giving her a glomping hug and taking her hands for a quick dance immediately after.

[Rip spent a little time on the red carpet with Augustine getting her picture taken with him and showing off a stunning blue dress paired with a matching mask and matching jewelry. Once the affair was done, she went off to mingle with the rest of the arrivals.

At various points during at the night Rip can be found at the photobooth laughing with whoever dragged her over for a photo. It might take a little convincing.]


2.Dancing
[When Rip isn't dancing with Augustine and drawing attention to them gliding across the dance floor, she's mingling with everyone else at the party and supposedly nursing a glass of wine. Or, at least the drink is red. It's debatable if it's actually wine or not.

If anyone wants to ask the elegant huntress for a dance, she's more than open to it.]

[When the music has gotten too much and Rip needs a momentary break, she can be found in the gardens relaxing next to the fountain and enjoying the sound of the water or perhaps hiding away in the maze just for a little quiet. Or.. perhaps she's hiding with someone... Rip's always happy for a friendly conversation.]

[When the crush of humans and other creatures being around her got too much, Li made a mad dash for the gardens to hide out for awhile. Finding her wouldn't be too hard since she wasn't being too subtle about where she was. However, it might take some coaxing to get her to go back in.

Li really wasn't a fan of crowds... of course, if someone wanted to sit outside and chat, she'd be more than happy to. Just ignore the fact that she lost the shoes she was supposed to wear somewhere in the maze.]

[Mirajane's mask was simple yet elegant, just as her dress was, and one could argue Mirajane herself. She was strolling with Erza, laughing, teasing, and clinging to her lover for a bit, when she finally spotted a certain friend she was hoping to run into at this party. She whispered something to Erza, and Erza went further on into the Garden away from her and Mirajane headed over towards Rose, recognizing her instantly by the wolf mask and the obvious rose patterned dress. The only way she could have made herself more obvious would have been to put a neon sign over her head that said ROSE TYLER.]

Hello Rose, have you been able to have any romantic rendezvous with a certain tall handsome doctor? Or at least a dorky one with two left feet and an ego the size of the sun?

[She had lowered her mask to the tip of her nose so that Rose could see without a shadow of a doubt it was her, although it wasn't as if her outfit was all that anonymous either.]

Costume Parade
[The room goes dark for an instant as the last of the parade leaves the grand staircase. The sound of birds - crows - can be heard throughout the area as the rustle of wings converges, momentarily drowned out by a whump of displaced air... and then, a lilting, sweet laugh. The lights return - they were never snuffed, merely dampened - and a figure can be seen at the top of the stairs, wearing a very distinctive mask.

Although the white hair might be a giveaway, this figure is otherwise unrecognizable - particularly as she isn't even the same gender as Soma, and that mask obscures her face really well. She seems to float down the stairs instead of walking, though her feet can in fact be made out. What can be seen of her skin is pale as the grave.]

[At no point during the evening will Soma remove that mask. Not unless a very good reason presents itself. So unless someone happens to be in on the joke, 'she' will be making the rounds of the dance floor indiscriminately. She's only there for fun, after all - this is an experiment in magic just for the sake of having a good time, free of restriction. So she'll be putting her abilities to good use - whether joining the chorus in enchanting song with the voice of a Siren, dancing on air with the aid of Medusa Head, or any of a number of other odd feats.

Erza arrives at the party wearing a formal dress that she had previously worn for a royal gala, along with a butterfly themed mask. With the Fairy Tail guild present at this ball, she made sure to dress to impress.

She's thrilled to have her picture taken - Erza certainly enjoys showing off her outfits, and it's always nice to have something to remember these kinds of nights by.

Dancing

Erza always admired the natural grace of dancers. Her own method of dancing was... unique, to say the least, though she had been improving. If she didn't get too carried away, she could dance normally.

As it stands, she's on the edge of the dance floor, watching for now. However, she's eager to get out there, and it shows - her eyes almost light up as she watches the people dance.

Gambling

Most people wouldn't consider gambling relaxing, but Erza Scarlet isn't like most people. For whatever reason, she seems to have borderline-supernatural luck when it comes to games of chance, and that's no different here than it is back home. Whether it's dice or cards, she seems to be doing quite well for herself, as the stack of chips in front of her gets higher and higher.

Once she's had enough fun at the tables, she'll sit back and see how others are faring or mingle with other spectators.

Gardens

Toward the end of the night, Erza could use some quiet time, and the gardens are perfect for that. It's certainly not as busy or crowded as the rest of the party, so she'll take her time to enjoy that sense of calm. She might be found admiring the greenery, but then again, this place seems perfect for a romantic stroll with her girlfriend.

Gambling

He avoids making eye contact when he's bluffing. Zeref's voice would be heard in Erza's head. He'd long since mastered telepathy, on the scale of being able to issue commands simultaneously to entire regiments of the Imperial military all at once. It would feel completely different from when Warren does it. Beyond likely having learned the magic in completely different ways, the two weren't anywhere close to being on the same league as mages; with Zeref, there was no subtlety, no gentleness, no warning, just the voice of someone who was used to micromanaging hundreds of thousands of people all at once like a skilled real-time strategy game player, focusing on only one person in the room... well, two, if you count Mavis.

He thinks his mask hides it. It doesn't. I can see his shoulders tense up every time he looks at his cards. He then looks at his drink. He's stressed, and he thinks the alcohol would help him. Yes. Zeref is helping, though not necessarily helping her cheat. He can't see their cards, after all. If she were to scan her surroundings, she'd see Zeref sitting next to Mavis at a different table. They've been the last two people at one particular poker table for almost an hour. Everyone else had been beaten, but as usual, the two can't seem to win against each other.

[ Arriving at the ball already left a great first impression on Andrea, walking down toward the event space and immediately greeted with flashing lights and attention from so many photographers. Feeling like a total celebrity, Andrea smiles and blushes, giving her best poses and expressions. So much that she almost bumped into someone along the way, stopping herself from colliding with the other person entirely thanks to her reflexes. ]

Woops, almost got ya there!

Dancing:

[ Right at the edge of the dance floor, Andrea watches for a bit and try to observe this style of dancing. This is not something she's used to, coming from a more modern world, but it's fascinating to watch and she's all hyped up to try something new. ]

[ She asked someone next to her, pointing to the dancers on the floor dancing to some upbeat symphonic music ]

[ She laughs at her own predicament, not looking very bothered by it anyway. It's chilly, but it's not something she can't handle. She's spent a lot of time in some of Earth's coldest places. But she's just speaking her thoughts out loud to anyone she encounters outside. Social butterfly she is ]

[ Holding a glass of champagne in her gloved hand, Ayame approaches anybody who seem to be watching from the sidelines, standing beside them from a safe distance. ]

[ Ayame isn't around the tables with the impressive display of food. In fact, she's on the other side of the ballroom. But she occasionally steal glances to the food area... and occasionally swipe some food from under people's noses. Portals appear out of nowhere to which Ayame slips her hands through to get some treats from the tables. The portals vanish as soon as her hand retreats with the items she wants. Whatever someone is picking, they'll soon feel her gloved hand touch theirs by accident, as both of will be reaching for the same thing soon enough. ]

Gardens:

[ Ayame sneaks out of the party to get some fresh air and a break from all the noise, socializing, and most importantly the temptation to gamble. She breathes a big sigh of relief upon reaching the gardens, yanking a bottle of her favorite whisky, then pouring herself a glass for a drink. She takes a seat on a bench just outside of the end of the maze, humming and looking at her glass with a puzzled expression. With a gesture of her finger, an orb of ice appears out of thin air and drops on her glass without spilling a sip of her drink. Noticing someone finishing the maze, Ayame perks up slightly ]

Ah, congratulations! Would you like a drink to celebrate your victory?

[ She asks with a slight smirk on her blushing features, hinting that she's mostly just playing. But she won't oppose people actually having a drink. Sharing is caring ]

Fireworks (locked to Yuyuko Saigyouji):

[ Whether Yuyuko actually went with her to the ball itself or not, Ayame invited her to watch the fireworks at least, and have some romantic time together. Still at the gardens, Ayame awaits for Yuyuko to arrive at their meeting spot. Upon seeing her lover arrive, Ayame gives her happiest and softest smile at Yuyuko. She gently beckons the other woman over ]

There you are. The fireworks are about to start.

[The ball was certainly a thing, although Yuyuko did feel slightly out of place. A little too fancy for her taste, although the food was quite delicious! She'd had to be ushered away from the tables two or three times before she finally gave up on going back to them.

She managed to make her way back to Ayame just in time at their appointed meeting spot, the ghostly woman removing her mask.]

Lea strolled around the refreshment tables, wearing a flame patterened tuxedo with a red silk scarf, and an equally firy-looking mask, sipping a drink called a Devil's Advocate. It was a bit different, but it had the pleasant burn of cinnamon whiskey that he particularly liked; though he always found straight liquor unpleasantly harsh, combined with other things to smooth it out a bit he could enjoy the taste properly. He might have to go back for another one later, in fact, and would be sure and leave a donation when he did.

Now if he could just figure out what some of the fancier hors d’oeuvres actually were, he'd be in business.

OK, so he wasn't so much parading, as he was just mingling, looking around to try and spot some people he knew. But with his current outfit along with his naturally wild hair, he was likely to draw attention anyway, even in this crowd.

"Man, Luxord would have a field day here," Lea murmured to himself as he looked over the card tables. Lea passed by them for now though, heading over to look at some of the items that were going to be up for auction only to find himself staring at some of the bizarre outfits on offer, tilting his head one way, then the other, as if trying to find an angle that would make the strange dresses make more sense.

A. Late Arrival

[Caron is fashionably late to the party. With a black and gold feathered mask and white suit, he almost blends in. It helps that he is a short boy and doesn't really stand up tall, or stand out, in the crowds.

As he enters, Caron is paying special attention to other singles. Not because he wants a date, but because he's so happy to see single people.]

Hm~ You couldn't find a date either? [He at least pretends to be worried as he approaches.]

B. Food

Caron is collecting quite the tall plate of snacks. It's clear from taking one look at his face that he's over the moon with excitement.]

The suit hugged his arms nicely, and for once he couldn't see his knee bones. Well, he couldn't really see any of his bones at the moment. The idea of being anonymous, returning to the bit of unknown figure from Los Olvidados. It had been a bit hard since really, there were only two skeletons in all of Genessia, and it's four sisters. And only one of them male with a perchance to let his friends talk him into things.

It was still odd, having muscles and skin again. He wished he could thank his Jefe, but perhaps another candle on the ofrenda would have to do. As it was, Hector wasn't going to be flesh for long. The feeling of a heart thumping away in his chest, air tickling out of his nose with each breath, and the tingling of sweat starting to form along his collar was distracting. It was as if everything he had never noticed while alive was now an echo ten thousand times louder than the original sound.

But he was here. Alive, dressed and masked. For all the glitter and glitz that danced around him, it was just a party. Just like the ones Ernesto and he had attended in Mexico City. He could do this.

Baile
Music was such a tease. She danced through his ears and ruffled past his hair as he watched the people on the floor dance. The inside of his cheek was getting a good chewing as he shifted from one foot to the other. Trying hard not to let the arms of the songs reach out to him.

It wasn't working very well and at a particularly familiar swell of tempo he sighed and moved towards the closest person that had no partner, male or female it didn't matter he had practice being either partner himself. "Perdon, but...would you like to dance?"

Aperitivo
"Okay, okay, okay! I get it, I get hungry now!" He laughed despite the annoyance at his digestive track. The old gnawing feeling from Los Olvidados was nothing compared to actual hunger. So he'd found his way to the food, recognizing only a few of the entrees. It was the biggest difference he had seen so far but after depositing a few bills as a tip, he made his way around before finally asking someone, "Ah, I am not sure what most of this is. Anything here have a bit of a, you know, kick?"

He did not miss sweat! It stung his eyes, made his hair stick to his neck and had his feet regretting shoes and socks. It also made him antsy and needing a bit of air. Thankfully there was a garden, and while he had only intended to step outside...it was too hard to avoid the temptation of nicking a spare guitar as he passed the band stand on his way outside.

He'd return it later.

For now he was seated on a low bench, mask pulled to the side as he let himself relax in the night. His finger dancing along the strings, pulling a soft melody from the guitar. Out of habit, the case stood open in front of him and any money that might make it's way in there would promptly get donated to whatever charities were here.

It had been a whirlwind bit of a night, and he was tired and confused by it all. His fingers itched and so did his heart, but it wasn't the sort that he could scratch. It was a deeper sort of discomfort that came from knowing he was doing something he shouldn't. It was a wonder his hair was still somewhat styled with how often he'd reached back to run his hands through it in nerves.

The night was half way over, or begun depending on what end of the candle one burned. Hector chuckled, so for him it had not even started and was well on it's way to an end. Two ends, two flames after all.

He was standing in a corner of the ballroom, the guitar back in its place and the dance music not the right sort for dancing with complete strangers. So he lingered on the outskirts, letting his eyes roam around the room and take in the costumes and elaborate masks.

She had seen him, of course she had. She didn't know when he'd arrived, but she had been watching him for most of the night. The first sight of him had taken her breath right from her gurgling lungs and she'd had to duck into the shadows, lean against a wall to try to keep her legs under her as they shook, her heart hammering in her ears.

She knew he would be here. Had hoped he wouldn't be. Knew he would like a moth to flame. Only no, this would not singe his wings but he would dance with them. It was his element, a time like this, where he belonged. So she had known and yet--

The shock of it-- How he looked-- As he had, as she remembered him in her dreams and nightmares. Did he somehow use a potion, too? And why? Was it to dance with others? To remember what it was to live again? Was he not as desperate as she expected? Or is she just a fool again, caught in his presence, thinking too much of herself.

She had even seen him with a guitar-- but hadn't been able to hear him play, like a coward had run from it.

And here she was a coward even now.

What she was here to do was to set things right. To make them better. To be how they should. But perhaps it wasn't needed at all...

That thought alone bouyed her.

So she pushed back the fear and the anger and the other things knotting in her throat, and the sharp, heightened awareness that she was being twice a fool for using the potion in the first place-- She was an old woman, not someone young and fresh and he would see through it.

But she would suffer that. She would learn her lesson this time. Close the book on it.

So it is time...

She moves from the shadows where she knows he will catch his eye.

Her plan was to go up to him, to face this head on, but as soon as he catches her, expression lost behind the mask, some other part takes over.

She says nothing, gives him a long glance over her shoulder, feeling the earring whispering against her skin, and then moves a bit further into the crowd. It is an old game. Their old game with unspoken rules.

But she is sure that she won't be followed and that in and of itself is an answer to a question.
