(There is no reason for what she has to say to be private, however it is a bit personal, so she chooses to phrase it in another language.)
Avy jorrāelan, Rhaegar.
(Valyrian is their native tongue, after all, so perhaps the sentiment holds more meaning this way. Daenerys beams, bright and sweet, after announcing her feelings before she addresses everyone else.)
How many soldiers would you say we have between the cities? How many are from other worlds and how many are native? Should the cities be attacked, are there plans to raise the defenses?
I haven't seen many walls or weapons for that matter.
(She should probably explain her line of thinking.)
I come from a world that is unsettled and violent. If this world is able to bring my brother and myself here, I worry others might arrive too. Others that have no desire for peace.

I practice every day.
It's too bad this place doesn't really have any monsters to practice against, but then again, not having monsters around is more of a good thing than a bad one.

Have you ever heard of a Dothraki arakh?
I have not. Something from your world, right?
Yes. It is a particularly deadly curved blade.

I guess you had your dragons to protect you, too. [There'd be no need for a weapon in that case.]

They understand that they must fight too.

(Seven kingdoms is nothing to scoff at; Westeros is the most powerful continent in her world.)

[That's what he's getting at; she could be the most politically powerful woman in her own world, but without someone able and willing to protect her -- whether it be a bodyguard or Daenerys herself -- it means nothing to someone who would want to physically hurt her.]
You said you weren't a soldier. Can you use physical force to protect yourself if you need to?

(She is a woman filled with life and passion. She will fight with the weapons on hand for survival - using her teeth and nails if she must.)
If you're interested, though, there are self-defense classes available in the cities, and modern weapons that don't require physical strength to use. Just in case you get separated from your brother, or want to defend yourself more effectively.
[She hasn't mentioned any training on her own part, so Roland assumes she doesn't really have any. Letting her know she has options is the least he feels he should do.]

I will look into them. I teach classes most of the week and spend time watching the dragons, but I can make time for them too.
(She doesn't want to imagine Rhaegar's fury if she was ever attacked or hurt.)
