How many soldiers would you say we have between the cities? How many are from other worlds and how many are native? Should the cities be attacked, are there plans to raise the defenses?

I haven't seen many walls or weapons for that matter.

I come from a world that is unsettled and violent. If this world is able to bring my brother and myself here, I worry others might arrive too. Others that have no desire for peace.

We have many warriors from the different worlds, as well as soldiers that are native to this world. This is exactly why we have an elected Guardian in each city, to plan for these events and protect the citizens.

And believe me, we have seen plenty of people with no desire for peace.

Do the Guardians stay in contact with one another? I assume they do. (It's hard not taking the helm.) I will warn you as best as I am able.

I believe they do, especially when there's trouble happening. These devices make communication much easier. We don't have anything like these where I come from.

He doesn't need a little sister shadowing his steps, however there is no doubt he can always come home to her.)

The cities don't have standing armies as far as I know, no. The closest thing we have are police and the Guardians.

Plenty of us are able to fight, though, and we're prepared to protect those who can't.

I suggest that you hone your skills as often as you are able. I cannot let down my guard and I worry what will become of us if we become too complacent.

Well, if they're human as you-- whether they want peace or not, there are a lot of other people with the ability to-- well, make it rather difficult for them to start trouble. They might be in over their heads.

Humanity has many weaknesses, but some are gifted with seemingly infinite cunning and a total lack of empathy. They will strike off any hand that reaches out to aid them and think nothing of the agony they cause.

Hm, I don't know about an army. But there are a number of places here for training, and organizations that assemble teams to defend the public. Each city has a Police Department in some form, which acts as a first line of defense.

Then we have the Guardians and their Deputies... Oh, and Mr Gale is organizing rescue teams, and my training center is helping people learn their strengths! Ms Konoka has the new mobile healing business too.

I am relieved that the defenses are so advanced. Furthermore, I have promised to spread the word if someone who might prove to be a danger enters the cities from my world. I do not know if we can do more.

There have been otherworldly attacks, people who tried to take over the world, monsters, storms, and other disaster crisis. That's what the Guardians are for.

Not all soldiers advertise their experience.

Are you speaking personally or in general? (On the last point, that is.) I have spoken to some of the Guardians and they are not all-powerful. They need an army to support them.

Well, if it's any comfort, it seems we mainly get the sort you can at least negotiate with, and not a few of us have a bit of experience dealing with the other sort.

Still, I know what you mean, and you're right to keep your eyes open, wouldn't worry quite so much about soldiers, though, as getting to know a few people you can trust, brave and a bit clever, and hearts in the right places. Brave and clever'll do you better than all the soldiers you can shake a stick at, which I can tell you from experience, is probably more than you'd guess.

I do not entirely trust negotiations - even when they go well. I have seen them broken too often.
