Log 02 | [Action/Video]

Good morning to those who were not murdered in their sleep by Mr. Mime.

[At this point, Gale was getting pretty sick and tired of hunting for these weird monsters that were around the cities. Sure, he loved the ones he's gotten so far, but he was well content on being done with it. How many do you really need? Plus he had other things on his mind anyway. Maybe that's why he kept dragging himself out, to keep himself occupied from the dozens of questions flooding his mind because of Aymeric's appearance. And now he has two of those master balls so he has to make at least one more trip out. But not today. Today he's at Garden Park looking pretty tired, and he's got a number of food containers with him. Delphox seems to be guarding them, while Gale is sitting next to them with his phone out.]

With the arrival of our... numerous new companions, I took to the library and located resources on food they prefer. [He gestured to the containers next to him and Delphox.] I've spent many an hour cooking a variety. If any would care to bring their companions to Garden Park to try some and pick some up, you're more than welcome. [A pause.] Do remember these are for Pokemon.

[He wasn't sure what else to say, but it almost seemed silly to only make a video just about offering treats to other trainers. He hesitated before shrugging.]

And for what it is worth to some, I am currently in talks for taking the "clubs" that my namesake left behind under my wing. T'is the least I can do for him, I feel.

[Fayren - Lioriley's Cottage (Private to Lioriley and Aymeric)]

[Gale had made several batches of the Pokemon food specifically for Lior, figuring she had quite a number with her between her own catches and Estinien's. And she put up with Estinien for this long, it was the least Gale could do in return. Not that he had any strong attachment to the guy (especially this one, the one from another timeline), but he had to repay Lior's kindness in some manner. Moreso since she played along with Aymeric's prank on the dragoon.

So he would eventually go to Fayren, with Druddigon and Delphox in tow helping him carry the food he made. It was... a lot... but Gale had spent quite some time in the kitchen and cooking. "Quite some time" translated into days, actually, but it's a good pastime and it meant keeping all the Pokemon fed.

Once he got to the cottage, he looked over his shoulder at Druddigon and Arden before adjusting the containers in his own arms so he could knock on the door with the back of his hand. Hopefully she was in, otherwise he'd have to either leave the food here with a note or carry it all back to Nova.]

It cannot be an imposition if I am the one that offered in the first place. ( She shrugs, shifting the now calmed Cubone in her lap to get into a more comfortable position. Samurott has finally found his way over to her as well, flopping down beside her to rest his head on his flippers. )

Regardless, I am glad you both arrived when you did. I may have been overwhelmed otherwise. ( And it's not like she could turn the Pokemon away, especially when Estinien explicitly gave them to her. Which was another thing she was tempted to question. Probably should leave it alone for now though. ) I do not have much to offer in the way of thanks, but I could make us some of the tea Aymeric brought me recently.

I suspect had we not arrived the house itself may be falling. [ It's a half joke on his part. Less of a joke knowing that some of them had been snappy when he had arrived. That he only lost his coat was probably a good sign of how they had calmed down. ]

I believe you've done quite enough in having watched our wayward dragoon. Mayhaps take the moment to relax. [ Which is his own subtle attempt to say he'll go take care of it. Much as he enjoys the company the moment to himself might be helpful. ] I would say the day has been busy enough that you deserve a respite.

[He manages a quiet laugh at Aymeric's comment. He was glad he decided to make the trek out here today since he was able to help. Aymeric's coat may not have been so well off if he had put it off a day.]

No thanks are necessary, truly. But I do agree with Aymeric. If I may, I can brew the tea in your stead. The both of you could use the moment's respite now that the worst of the storm is passed.

[At least, he hopes the worst is past, but the Pokemon do seem content with his offering for the moment. Again, he was quiet for a moment.]

I could prepare dinner as well, if it suit you.

I do not think you are wrong in that assumption... ( Her garden is ruined, Aymeric's coat is a mess, and so far as she can tell a few of her walls have holes in them now. The house still stands, and could be far worse for wear... but it definitely would have been bad if she had to wrangle them all in alone.

When they both seem to insist she not do much in the way of thanking them, she just kind of... stares? Confused and slightly alarmed. She starts to stand despite either of them. )

No, no, it is fine. I can -- you do not have to -- ( WHAT IS HAPPENING. )

No, no. Such a weary day is to be met with rest when possible. [ He glances over at Gale, a faint smile and dismissive handwave. Clearly, it seems, Gale forgot that the lord commander was man who worked himself to the bone. Which meant that he doesn't even have the decency to wait for a counter argument. ]

Please, sit and enjoy the peace. I shall be back momentarily. [ And there it is. He doesn't wait for further commentary, discussion of who should be doing what. A kitchen is a kitchen and it wasn't as if he didn't know his way around one. He's heading inside to go get that tea started. ]

[Gale quizzically tilted his head in response to Aymeric's handwave. What is that gesture for? But then he began walking away and then it hit Gale. He took a step forward, his arm outreached.]

H-Hey, wait! I said I would do it!

[He had half a mind to make that bloody lord commander sit down himself but he just lets his arm fall to his side, cocking his head as he planted his hand on his hips. Screw it. Fine. He can make the tea. FINE. Gale can start on dinner when he's done!]

And here I thought he allowed for people to interject.

[Rude. Gale decided to turn his gaze to the poor garden before his eyes fell back on Lior.]

Then until he is done with the tea and I am free to start dinner, I can offer mine help in the gardens instead.

( A few steps behind Gale, Lioriley attempts to shuffle forward as well. Unfortunately, even her Pokemon seem to be on Aymeric's side when she comes to a sudden, jerking stop like her dress has been caught on something. Looking back she sees Valiant, teeth clamped on the cloth to hold her in place. ) You too?

( flustered, leylines brighter than normal, she looks to Gale again, only seeing Aymeric's receding form in her periphery.)

I do not suspect I have the option to decline.( so yeah... Go ahead. ) Is stubbornness an Eorzean trait?

[Gale huffed about Aymeric again quietly, but he couldn't chuckle at Valiant stopping Lioriley. He turned towards her fully, giving a shrug.]

You could say that. T'is stubbornness or simply an eagerness to please. But I suppose I know where much of the mentality stems from.

[He didn't exactly want to bore her with the details about the Calamity. He wasn't entirely up on the details of the event himself, but he also had a tendency of spacing out when people began to talk too much around him. But he looked back in the direction Aymeric left, his brow furrowing.]

Him, on the other hand... Mr. Lord Commander.. A bloody Ishgardian like him is giving me whiplash. I cannot wrap my head around how polite he is compared to the other bloody nobles.

[Whoops, his disdain for Ishgard is slipping.]

( Hard to bore someone who beelines for the library every day after work, but she isn't inclined to pry for answers from him just yet. She's too busy being baffled by what just happened in the last two minutes. )

Lord Commander. ( Huh. Who would have guessed. Well, she might have, though she was leaning more toward the nobleman aspect of it. Aymeric carried himself in a manner befitting people of status; though he was significantly nicer as well. ) Seems we have been blessed to have him here instead of them, in that case.

[Gale had realized he ended up letting some of his Ishgard disdain out, but at least Lior seemed to zero in on Aymeric's title rather than his cursing. Really, being away from Ishgard was probably a blessing for both Gale and Aymeric, given all of the shite that surrounds that place. Gale still wasn't so sure how he felt on being here with Aymeric. The Lord Commander calling him "friend" and willing to speak with him so casually as opposed to "business business help Ishgard blah blah" like he had experienced so far was always ringing in Gale's mind.]

... aye. There is much that surrounds Ishgard. I am not certain how he is able to maintain himself in that position when the whole Holy See relies on him.

[While the archbishop sits around doing nothing but preaching "dragons are bad, Ishgard is good" or whatever nonsense. Gale's disdain almost wants to believe that Aymeric's kindness is a facade. He quietly laughed.]

Perhaps here, the worst danger he'll involve himself in is just a tussle with Pokemon. He attempted to join myself and Estinien once. That pretty face of his is ill suited for what we were doing.

( It probably helps that she doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about anyway, and the subject seems too touchy to ask for details. )

Unfortunately, I fear I am not in the ideal position to provide my insight on that. Mayhaps you could... inform me of a few details later. I admit you have my curiosity now.

( She has a lot of questions. ) Pray tell what his physical appearance might have to do with... whatever you two were doing?

Ah. I can answer what you'd like, but I admit I've my personal grudges against the archbishop. It may be unfair to Aymeric to only hear from me.

[And really, he doesn't want to drop all of his Ishgard related baggage onto Lioriley like that. If the three could talk about it, then maybe it would clear things up for Gale too. Even if it might be begrudging for him to sit through. He blinks at her question then smiled, waving his hand.]

Nothing nothing, I jest. But Estinien and myself were undertaking a dangerous venture at the time. It would have been much too dangerous for a man with the rank of such import like Aymeric. Hells, it was bloody dangerous for Estinien and myself as it was.

[Actually, thinking back on it, it was odd that Aymeric going along in the first place. His company certainly would have been more welcome than Alphinaud's.]

... not that I am aware of the results of that before I was brought here.

Perhaps the both of you could speak of it then? I am hardly opposed to learning more about the realm you hail from.

( Even if Gale sounds annoyed about most of it. Maybe there's some merit to the annoyance though - and if there isn't, either of them could shine a light on it one way or another.

She cocks her head to the side, shifting the Cubone in her arms again as it sleeps against her chest. Valiant has finally decided that his trainer will no longer be attempting to sabotage the Lord Commanders attempt at making tea, and settles in the grass behind her. So far as she can tell, the other Pokemon aren't doing much either. Thank god. )

Dangerous as it may have been, having another along with you may have been more a benefit than a hindrance. Then again, I am wholly unaware of the degree of danger involved.

( Oh. She frowns. ) Strange time to take you here, in that case. I am sorry.

If you've the curiosity, it would be rude not to indulge you.

[He thought about apologizing now about how his end of things would go. Maybe by Aymeric's time he knew of Gale's grievances, but he knows he can go on a tangent if unchecked.

He glanced to the side, finding that Aymeric's coat had been freed of its Pokemon imprisonment. Taking the chance while it was freed, Gale picked the coat up off the ground and looked it over again.]

Estinien and myself had company, and Aymeric was needed in the city... but I admit, I would have rathered the Lord Commander's company than the one who sent us on that goose chase.

[What little he learned from Estinien, Gale knew the whole thing didn't end well, which just tells him that Alphinaud was in over his head again. He shook his head, looking back at her.]

Oh, I'm certain I've not been the first inconvenienced. T'is a welcome reprieve, if I am honest.

[He walks over beside her with the coat over his arm and sitting beside her.]

Forgive my brevity, there is much that would likely be clearer for us both if Aymeric explained. Once he is finished with tea, that is.

So seems to be the case with many who arrive. ( A 'vacation' of sorts from the life they lead back home. She would include herself in that list, were it not for the fact that she had just settled after six centuries of nonsense back home. Oh well, it wasn't so bad here either - and besides that, she got the chance to learn of places she would never have had the chance to otherwise. Including and up to whatever the hell Gale was vaguely discussing. )

He seems good company, though I cannot speak of what the alternative might have been. ( A shrug. She smiles as Gale sits beside her, then turns her head to the house with a curious hum. ) One would imagine he is almost done, no? Unless he has some special brewing method I am unaware of.

I imagine the same can be said of Aymeric, but I feel he's not wont to admit such things.

[The stress and expectations Aymeric has to live up to are probably on par with what Gale himself has had to deal with. Only without the "god slaying" part, but Aymeric has to put up with being a politician instead. Gale is far more content with killing gods instead.]

I admit I am no expert on nobles, but I would imagine they have no special way of brewing. [He tilted his head.] Unless he is unfamiliar with the lay of your kitchen.

[But he can't imagine that boiling water would take this long.]

Perhaps we should check on him and see if he's alright?

[He suggests that with a more playful tone and a wry smile. Noble or no, surely he can handle making tea?]

'Tis not an overly complicated area to navigate. ( Maybe she's just used it though. Who knows. Either way, everything seems to be mostly calm outside now, so it shouldn't hurt to venture in to see how Aymeric is fairing regardless.

Valiant glances up as Lioriley stands, debating the merits of stopping her again before he ultimately decides against it so he can nap more instead. Lioriley offers her free hand to Gale, nodding her agreement. )

It could not hurt. With any luck, we will be just in time for tea.

[But that's backwards, he should be the one offering his hand! But she's faster than him. He accepts her hand and stands back up before looking over at Delphox.]

Keep an eye on them, Arden. Yell if anything happens.

[Arden nods with a "Del!" while Druddigon just huffed while some smaller Pokemon were climbing on his back. Gale chuckled as he turned to the cottage, opening the door and gesturing in.]

Ladies first.

( She releases his hand once they're both on their feet, chuckling quietly to herself when he gives Arden the command to watch the other pokemon. Probably not a terrible idea, given how chaotic things got earlier.

So polite, Gale. Lioriley bows her head in thanks and enters the cottage, peering into the kitchen to see how Aymeric is doing in there. )

Aymeric?

[ Perhaps it shouldn't be surprising that he hadn't come back out yet. It was, originally, supposed to be him merely making tea. Yet when he owes a bit of gratitude to them both he takes it upon himself to repay kindness with kindness. Tea was made, of course. Aymeric wouldn't forego it. He had also taken the time to prepare a lunch. Nothing over the top as he wouldn't want to ruin any appetites for the generous offer of dinner. He sticks with simple. A light soup with a side salad and of course their much needed tea.

He already has the tea pot on the table and the table partly set. As he hears his name he's just about to head over to the table, with his arms and hands carefully balancing their plates. Good thing he's got decent balance. ]

Ah, seems I was too slow. I had hoped to have lunch set up before my delay arose suspicion.

[Once inside it was hard to miss the smell of something cooking. That smell wasn't tea for sure.

But... but he said he would cook!

... wait, Aymeric can cook?

Gale stepped up behind Lioriley, staring at Aymeric and tilting his head quizzically. He narrowed an eye as he planted his hands on his hips.]

You didn't truly think you could get that by me? [Like it was some kind of sneaky conspiracy or something.] Tea doesn't take that long.

The fact I said I would cook aside... do you need a hand there?

Oh! ( She scoots back a little to give him more room to walk, eyes wide with surprise.

Lioriley has to wonder how she ended up with two overly polite men in her house today, offering to make tea and food and then actually doing it. Not that she's complaining, even if it's making her feel like a really shitty host. )

You really did not have to go through the trouble of making lunch... ( She murmurs, the lines across her cheeks bright with embarrassment. She probably doesn't need to offer a hand, lest there be too many trying to bring the plates and bowls to the table, so she just kind of awkwardly shuffles into the living room quickly to set her Cubone down on the couch to rest. )

I'm quite alright. [ He moves to set the table, careful with each plate and making sure everything looks perfect every time he sets a plate down. If anyone thought Aymeric was not about presention as much as flavor well they would be wrong. Once his arms are free he gestures to the table as an invitation. ]

While it is true that it wasn't required and that there was a proposed meal to be made I believed it best not to wait until dinner before anyone eats. [ He shouldn't speak for everyone. Sure he skipped breakfast but between everything the comfort of having a bit of food and tea would surely be better than nothing. Especially considering the disaster that had thus far been the day. ]

I've no intention of stealing dinner away from you. I merely thought to repay the kindness offered from both of you. Now, if it isn't asking too much, might we enjoy lunch?

[Gale at least stayed out of Aymeric's way while he set the table but watched him carefully. Everything he knew about Ishgardian nobles seemed like it was getting thrown out the window here. Cooking? Setting the table? Being nice??]

I suppose that is true. I had forgotten it was somewhat early for dinner.

[He had lost track of the amount of time he'd spent at Garden Park earlier, and how early he rose for that matter. Actually, had he even eaten at all today? He forgets. But that low stomach rumble might actually have been his answer. No one heard that, right?]

I did not do that much, truly.

[He was just bringing PokeFood as a gift is all. Well. And help fix things up but it's not like he needed repaid for it. Speaking of which, he should probably set down Aymeric's coat somewhere.]

T'is probably ill suited for lunch conversation but, [Or not, he doesn't know. He gestures to Lioriley.] Lioriley was curious about Ishgard. Seeing though my opinion is... poor, I figure it would be best to speak of it with you. Lord Commander and all.

( With her Pokemon safely nestled in some blankets in the living room, Lioriley hurries back to the dining room as Gale and Aymeric continue in their polite-off. If she were being honest, neither of them had any right to repay anything, given that she was the one with a house full of Pokemon crying for help. They were also guests and she had done approximately nothing to accommodate them.

She'll have to recover from this somehow. Thankfully for everyone involved, Aymeric's insistent tone seems to silence her from arguing the matter further. Yes, they can just sit and enjoy lunch and oh hell yeah please talk to her about Ishgard. )

If it is not too much trouble, of course. ( She offers despite the excitement of hearing about a world she's never seen or heard of before now. She takes a seat at the table, glancing down to everything Aymeric had set out with cheeks still as bright as before. God, it smells good too. ) Oh, and thank you again.
