[ Once all contestants and judges are at the venue, and enough time has passed for the audience to settle into place, Whitley takes center stage with a broad smile and a polite bow. ]

Good evening, culinary enthusiasts, and welcome to the Genessia World Cooking Championship! We have an impressive lineup of contestants ready to show us what they're capable of - but first, allow me to introduce our panel of judges.

[ He lifts one hand to gesture to a table at one end of the room, where the five judges are seated, with an extra seat remaining for Whitley himself. As he introduces each he allows a moment for them to stand and wave to the crowd, should they so desire: ]

Shinjiro Aragaki, Alice Nakiri, Gwen Stacy, Aeslyn Blackrose, and Demyx - as well as myself, of course! A truly diverse array of palettes if ever there was one, but we'll see which entries are superb enough to wow us all. We'll begin first with the entrees, then allow a short intermission before moving onto the desserts.

[ He claps his hands together in front of himself, nodding sharpy. ]

I don't think there's any need to say more, and truth be told I'm famished, so without further ado - will all chefs making entrees please find your stations!


(( OOC: First and foremost, thank you everyone who signed up! As you may have noticed we had exactly five people sign up to be judges, so EVERYONE WHO SIGNED UP TO BE A JUDGE IS IN! As for how the contest will work now, there will be headers below for each entry with the chef's name, their dish, and their meta score from the random number generator plus their experience bonus. Chefs may comment in those threads to describe their process and what may have gone right or wrong, while judges are free to react as if they are tasting the dish!

[ The video screen turns on, showing a seemingly mellow, unemotional girl. She's actually been here a while, lurking and paying attention to the comms. For a while now, Kaga has largely just been trying to deal with being away from home, the war against the Abyssals, and not really having much of a direction.

But she figured, after her talk with Ayame at the Halloween party, she needed to stop wandering around and perhaps seek employment. She was first and foremost a shipgirl designed for naval battles, but... there's hardly any beaches or ocean. What's a shipgirl to do? ]

Frankly, I've been indecisive for too long. Though I've been refining my ability for archery on land, this lack of beachfront outside two sections of two cities doesn't leave me with much to experience on.

I hear that Attleton has an accomplished military... or at least something decent. I hope it's more focused on business than politics, some of the things I've heard through this device concern me.

...ah, getting ahead of myself. I'm Kaga, of the First Carrier Division. Nice to meet you all.

[She's been around for several hours already, circling the cities and doing some exploring. Not that anybody would have seen the newcomer in person, but she's been there. Even if it's only been a quick shadow passing by overhead, or a pair of eyes watching from somewhere high up.

When she finally does decide to make her presence known, it's over the video network and from behind a white mask, speaking from somewhere dark and hard to pin down.]

Well, I can't say I'm entirely pleased to have woken up to all of this. [She waves a hand.] If your instinct is to offer platitudes or assurances, don't bother, I saw the message when I woke up and I've seen enough of this world by now to know that it was at least the truth. It was a surprise to be greeted by a Schnee but, well, they do love to tell everyone about their benevolence whenever they can, don't they?

[She shakes her head with a brief, humorless chuckle.]

Unfortunately, I don't intend to accept this captivity so easily. I intend to find a way to return to my home by any means necessary.
