So much has changed.

{ It's been a long time since he's shown his face, hasn't it? He's been keeping himself shut in ever since a certain date with a certain First Master. Maybe it was boredom, maybe it was something else, but now, all of a sudden, he feels like making a post to the network. He's seating in a dark room, lit mostly by candles that seem to be of a magical origin. Tartaros members might recognize it as his and Sayla's (and Suigintou's) bedroom. }

This is not the same world I arrived at so long ago. More people have come, and gone. And we are still no closer to knowing why, exactly, we were brought here.

{ Zeref sighs, and turns the page of a book in his lap. It was a book Sayla recommended to him, and so far, he is indeed enjoying it. }

I suppose it's refreshing to see that a world can change so much in so little time. That's certainly not the case in my own world... but perhaps it's a good sign.

[Sayla notices the book he's reading with no small amount of joy and pride. Zeref had kept his promise and they'd spent a whole afternoon together at the library. More than just one, actually. And now he was even asking her to recommend books.]

It's an interesting tale, to be sure.

{ He sighs, forcing himself to smile, albeit rather sadly as Sayla enters. He was conflicted about her; he'd gathered by now that Marde Guille hadn't yet told the Nine Demon Gates the true reason why the demons from his books were created. After how happy she clearly is to see him for the first time, he just can't bring himself to tell her; especially because of the fact that it ultimately didn't matter here, anyway. E.N.D. cannot be summoned here, and even if he could, Zeref can't die in Genessia. At least, not permanently.

It was as cruel to them as it was to him. }

You and Mavis have that in common, you know. A good taste in books.

[She's sitting on the desk, swinging her tiny legs in the void. Her fingers brush against the wooden surface, thoughtfully. She's feeling lonely and bored today. She wonders what BJ is doing. If he were here, he could do magic for her.

She looks up at her medium.]

What makes it so different, says you? People that you didn't get to know?

That isn't different at all. I'm not exactly a socialite in my world, for rather obvious reasons.

{ Though in a way, she's right; the people of this world are different from his own. That much couldn't be denied. }

[When the feed clicks on, Kefka is wearing a hood, skulking about in some back alley. His face is only visible from the nose down, but the smirk he wears is unmistakable sadism.]

Oh, a change is coming, and soon, Zeref. I offer you one chance to achieve your ultimate goal in this place. Stand with me, and I promise you, you will meet your end. Be it by my hand, or the hand of another, you will know your death if that is what you truly desire.

{ Zeref's reaction is curt, and without hesitation. }

Even if it were to possess me to even entertain the idea of helping you, you and I both know that no death here is permanent.

[He laughs for a long moment. Not the shrill bellowing laugh that he's known for, but a deep, knowing laugh.]

Let's just say I've been making some... adjustments.

No one even aged or anything in the afterlife though and nothing happened unless we made it happen, so it's understandable. What about your place?

So long as the change is for the better, I think it's always a good thing.

[She wouldn't want to see what she had in her own world happen here for example. She would rather that never happen.]

Rarely is it. It's my experience that humans will only do what is good for them, or what they believe is good for others, even if, in actuality, it isn't.

Then I guess you would consider me as one of them. I always hope people will make there own choices and I always hope for the best in everyone.

Otherwise I'd find that what I did would be in vain.

I have to wonder why we are no closer to understanding why we are brought here.

[There must be a reason after all, but she was pretty sure they wouldn't say anything if it was someone who was causing it all.]

I can only assume that whoever - or whatever - brought us here simply does not want us to know.

But why? What reason could there be for that? I guess trying to understand we'll just end up going around in circles.

[Except it's not really that exciting right off. She's exploring the depths of a cave system so there's a cavern lit by a white glow coming from behind the camera. Lots of mineral formations that have been untouched and unseen until now. The glow on the minerals is eery but at the same time rather mesmerizing to her.]

Progress in my world happened slowly for centuries, but then completely changed the world within a matter of several events. Not always for the good, but change does happen.

If what is occurring in my own world now is allowed to finish... then perhaps it will be the case there, too. Only, I would not call it sudden. It has been a long time coming.

[The feed is going to turn slowly towards a very odd mineral formation. One that looks quite a bit like a strip of bacon twenty feet long.]

Is that a good change or a bad change?

"That's right, buddy, keep your chin up and look on the bright side," Betelgeuse said, chuckling, his tone more sardonic than encouraging. "Or, better, get wasted and go out to have some. There's no use mooning over answers, we probably aren't going to get."

{ He's... going to take that as flattery. }

I'm not really into alcohol.

"Aw, whatsa matter?" Betelgeuse asked, not really mocking, at least not as much as he could have. "You can't hold your liquor? It's like anything else, just takes a bit of practice."

A changing world full of mortals, who seek to be released of such a prison, and even Marde Guille shares the same sentiments with these mortals. We have much to fulfill, only to be chained to a world that has little purpose.

[ Why hello his endearing master. He's not really in the greatest mood. He takes casual footsteps towards the man as he said those words, E.N.D.'s book still within his hold. ]

{ He'd know that voice anywhere. It had been rather quiet in the Tartarus guild hall today; Sayla ran off somewhere, and who knew what Suigintou could be up to at any given moment. As for Silver... he was a rare sight these days. That's more Marde Guille's concern than his own, though. }

I would have liked to think that we were brought here for a reason, but after all of this time, I still don't know what that reason is.

[ Marde Guille spent most of his time away from the pathetic humans and doing his own research and work. He's been gathering some data about the place, but nothing useful as of late. He also would be running rampant if not for the fact that Zeref had a leash on him in some form and manner. Silver wasn't doing anything he needed to intervene in, so he left the devil slayer alone. Sayla was also doing her own business.]

Marde Guille wishes to find that reason and punish those who gave us the reason for being held prisoner here.
