007: A New Reign [Video/Action]
[Video]
[Midboss was stood in the centre of the Attleton arena, looking rather pleased with himself. So, it looked like he had been successful after all. It may have been a bittersweet victory - considering that a number of people close to him had vanished in the interim - but he would not let that damp his ego when he appeared before the network as the new Guardian.]
Hmhmhm~ Greetings, citizens of Attleton and beyond! Forgive moi for leaving you all in the dark for so long, getting everything settled took a little longer than I first suspected. I imagine you all missed my beautiful visage greatly!
As I'm sure you have seen, from this moment forth, I - The Dark Adonis Vyers - have taken on the role of City Guardian here in Attleton. A pleasure, truly. I will do whatever is in my power to improve this place for the better, so do inform moi if you have any concerns.
Although my power and potential is truly vast, I will be looking for Deputy Guardians to assist me in my new role. If anyone is interested in the position, I will be at the Attleton Arena between 2 and 3 every afternoon next week, so please come and meet me there.
A very good evening to all of you.
[And with that, he ended the feed.]
[Action, 12th-18th January]
[Every afternoon, Midboss can be found in the Attleton Arena. He appeared to be engaged in a practice spar against some dummies he'd set out, trying to use momentum to keep from touching the ground as long as possible without flight.
Fighting inactive targets made for a dreadfully boring exercise, but at least his manoeuvrability was improving. He hoped that a half decent opponent would emerge at some point soon to keep him busy.]

Congratulations! Oh very good, very good. Better you than me. You'll be a regular gargoyle, scaring away evil spirits from the pious within.
Oh, but only because your radiant beauty will quite repulse your lessers. Do let me know when you begin spouting water. One would pay to see Vyers the Dark Aqueduct.

Mais bien sûr! The mere presence of one of my glorious power is sure to send them fleeing from the city! As you know, it is truly a force to be reckoned with!
A Dark Aqueduct, hm...?
[And now Ted's got him thinking about it. Oops.]
Well, I doubt I will spout water myself, but a fountain in my image to celebrate my victory...Now that is an idea.
video;
[because he knew of every other place having someone.]
video;
I do not believe I caught your name?
video;
I hope so. But um... My name is Chihiro. Nice to meet you.
video;
A pleasure, indeed! Are you based within Attleton at the moment, then?
video;
[Mostly because it seemed the most quiet and peaceful.]

video;
video;
[With that, Midboss gives Chihiro a few moments in case he wants to add anything else - if not, he'll end the call.]
video;
Okay so... If someone were interested they'd just have to go there right? There is nothing else one would need to do?
video;
Indeed~ If they turn up to the Attleton Arena, I can discuss the position with them and see if they are capable of handling the task. I would rather someone who can hold their own in a fight, after all, so I may test them in that regard.
Still, business aside, how are you? It has been quite some time.
video;
[That's a lie but whatever. She didn't need to mention who that someone is.]
It has. I've been keeping very busy with two businesses doing well.
video;
[If he did pick up on her lie, he wasn't commenting on it.]
An impressive achievement, to be certain! I assume you're still assisting others in their hunt for love?
video;
[She wasn't going to not do that any time soon.]
I'm doing quite well at it with the natives. Not so much for people who arrive here.

video;
So what is the second business you are involved with, if I may ask?

Hahahahaha~

[OOC: If Sailor Venus was planning to show up and request to be his Deputy Guardian, totally happy to play the log out or handwave it, up to you :) ]

How is your flowershop business going these days?
[Video]
It is fairing quite well. I've amassed quite a customer line it seems. And you? I hope you are well.
I heard some of the candidates received multiple death threats.
[Video]
I'm glad to hear it. I hope it continues to go well for you.
Yes, I have been well... There has been some harassment, but nothing that has threatened me physically at least. I'm sure you've seen the ridiculous false videos that have been spread around?
[Action] An opponent you say? KOIBALL, AWAAAYYYY!
"You're doing really good mister! But you should fly. It would be simpler and more efficient!"
[Action] We're under attack!!
"Mais bien sûr, Mademoiselle!" he replied as he landed, flicking his hair and posing. "In speed, and therefore in momentum, my power is truly unrivalled!"
That last comment made him wince though, just a little. "Oui, it would...However since I lost my wings, that has unfortunately not been possible. That is why I am practicing the alternatives."
[Action] Quick! Everyone hug! We shall win through the power of friendship!
"Speed and momentum are really really important but knowing how to vary and control your speed is even more important!" Koishi drifted over, tying the bag and placing it back in her pocket. "It doesn't matter how good someone is if their opponent can catch them off guard and take advantage of it." Certainly wise words.
She landed next to him as he commented on his lack of wings, staring for a moment and then leaning in, looking around behind him. "Ohhh. I understand. The nerves connecting my eye to my brain were ripped out. So now I can't read minds. But that's okay. I can read the subconscious now." She brightened. "I bet you could find another way to fly. Even without wings!"
[Action] GROUP HUG!
He winced at the mention of her eye, giving her a sympathetic look. "I'm sorry to hear that happened to you, I imagine it was a painful experience," he said, letting her examine him. If Koishi chose to peak underneath the flared jacket, she might see the faded scars across his shoulder-blades where his wings once emerged.
"A way to fly without wings, hm... I must say, I do hope I can uncover a method."
[Action] And then evil was obliterated via happy snuggle time.
Koishi looked a bit confused. Uncover a method? "Mister where I come from everyone can fly. I mean Miss Bat, Okuu, The Nice Eel Lady, the tengu, the fairies and others all have wings I suppose. But a lot of them don't even use them to fly. Just to keep stable and turn faster."
As if to further her point she rose higher into the air, spinning around once. Her third eye bobbed closer, slightly open, the frosted surface slightly visible. "I bet you could learn to fly too. I'm a youkai so I use youki to fly. The grumpy shrine maiden uses her spiritual energy and a bunch of people use magic. I bet you could learn too!"
[Action] Happy snuggles and cookies! Everyone needs cookies.
"How horrible... Still, I am glad to see you doing better," he did not want to press the issue unless she brought it up again. There was little to be gained from dragging up bad memories.
Midboss watched her as she floated up. In his world, wings were probably the most common method of flight. "I suppose flight with wings is simply what I am used to," he replied, listening carefully as she listed the techniques those of her world used. Curious. "Well, I appreciate the vote of confidence. Although I don't suppose you would be able to guess where might be a good starting point for moi?"
[Action] All different kinds of cookies. Even oatmeal ones. Some people like those.
"Starting...? Oh!" She reached down, rummaging in her other pocket before pulling out a metal pin plated in copper. It was shaped like a wing. "Here. Mister Stripes said I should let people try these fly pins to get them to join the Danmaku school. All the students get them. You should try it too! I bet its not going to be as fast or as good as your wings but even a little flight will give you a lot more air control."
She offered him the pin. It certainly was radiating a spell. A very simple one at that. And with very limited power too. Still, someone might get 30 minutes or so of flight out of it before it needed to recover. Provided the person knew how to use basic magic.
[Action] But we all know the most awesome people like chocolate chip.
'Mister Stripes'...ah, yes, Betelgeuse? Still, that thought was quickly banished from his mind when the pin was offered to him. He could definitely feel the spell coming from it. This might just work...
"Curious...where did you come across this?" Midboss was trying to hide the excitement in his voice as he carefully took the pin and turned it in his hand, studying it. "Oui, this does seem simple enough to manage...recharging should not be too much of a hassle either..." he muttered to himself.
[Action] But a true hero is accepting of all cookies.
The pin's construction was solid and it had a little weight to it. Probably made of bronze and it was certainly attractive to look at. The spell was a different story. Though simple and usable, it was not one that was meant to last. Still, it was a great temporary solution.
"You should take Danmaku classes with Mister Stripes. We're trying to make better flying pins for people and even teach some people to do it themselves! You're supposed to fly to do danmaku. It's a lot of fun."
[Action] How would they choose, though? D: There's lots of choices
It certainly looked like it would make a good stop-gap solution to his issue. Perhaps there was a way he could improve the spell, or at least recruit other people to look into it.
"Ah, yes, I did hear his initial announcement on the point, although you have certainly caught me interest now. I may have to join you," he replied, before hesitating. "I trust you do not mind my borrowing this? The magic in it should not be too difficult for me to hone."
As if to prove his point, he gripped onto the pin and tried to tap into his power, attempting to hover just off the ground for now. It was at this point, though, he realised he was forgetting something rather obvious:
"Goodness, how rude of me. I quite forgot to introduce myself. My name is Vyers...but if you cannot recall that, then I will not be offended." So long as she didn't start calling him Midboss, anyway. "What can I call you, Mademoiselle?"
[Action] You must do what you feel is right in your heart.
As for the pin, the spell could no doubt be improved upon. It was likely a type of magic he was not as familiar with though. It did come from another world after all. It would take a bit of time and effort to tighten and improve the spell... or even recreating the spell entirely using other methods of spellweaving.
"You can keep that one. Mister Stripes and Sis and I made a whole bunch He might be a little grumpy if I give this one away but we have lots and lots of others."
The pin's power was easy enough to tap into, his entire body gradually becoming lighter, lifting him slowly... slowly off the ground. It was nothing like flying with wings. He couldn't feel gravity much at all and it was far less stable feeling. No doubt his aerial agility and speed suffered too, but these things were probably a result of the spell's low quality.
"Oh! That's okay Mister. I can't associate names with people anymore. So I wont remember yours. It's a pretty name though. Mine is Koishi Komeiji!"
