video | first winter
[ Something feels off about this time. The lack of the psychic connection, the absence of her fellow Travelers, and most importantly, the welcome package. It's all puzzling, but she's willing to put aside her confusion to switch on the video feed.
When the feed starts, it reveals a solemn looking young lady, holding herself as regally as possible. When she speaks, it is with deliberate politeness.]
Hello. This is the Lady Sansa Stark of Winterfell speaking. I seem to be your newest arrival. I must deliver my kindest thanks for the welcoming gifts, as well as the communication device. The materials inside proved to be most helpful.
I, however, am not quite sure what I am expected to do from here. I would be more than happy to assist in anyway I can, as it seems newcomers are expected to do. I would also like to get to know all of you.
Thank you for your time. [ She bows her head, then curtsies politely, and the feed finishes.]

Flipping on her video...]
Excuse me for asking, but do you happen to know someone named "Armin"?
Armin-- is he here?
[She's silent for a moment before giving her a proper salute out of habit and respect.]
Yes, he's here and... He'll definitely be happy to see you. Especially after everything that's going on.
My name is Mikasa Ackerman and... he's one of my best friends back home. He told me a little about you but I.. [Didn't expect to see her here... No...] I'm just glad that he could see you again.

After about five attempts, moving his hand to turn on the video but finding he just can't do it, he closes his eyes. Taking a deep breath, he swallows hard, then turns on the feed - trying to look as calm and composed as possible.]
S-Sansa...?
[He meant to say something more, but his mouth doesn't seem to be working. He looks pale and scared, still half wondering if this is a dream - or a nightmare.]
Armin? Are you alright?
I d-didn't... I didn't th-think I'd ever s-see you again. And then when y-you arrived. [He takes a few more shaky breaths - both smiling and crying openly now. His next sentence is almost a whisper.] When I s-saw you were h-here, I was s-so afraid you wouldn't r-recognize me.

[ that's a compliment, but he has to wonder what sort of life she's led where being stolen away to a foreign realm is something one handles with grace. ]
I'm Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation, Deputy Guardian of Fayren. [ there's an appropriate nod towards the screen in acknowledgement of her highborn status. ] I can't tell you what this world expects of you, because that's not an answer any of us have. Most people find jobs and housing after they arrive. The Welcoming Center near the Bay can help you with that.

It is a pleasure to meet you, your Grace. [ The bit about not knowing what to expect turns her stomach a little, because while being a Traveler had provided it's fair supply of horrors, at least she had known what was expected of her. ] Forgive me, but that sounds... too easy.

[ the scar on his face is evidence enough of having been through ordeals of his own. ]
It does. [ a chuckle, because sometimes things around here are far too quiet for a kidnapping situation. eight months into his stay, and that still bothers him. ] But easy doesn't mean it's quiet or safe. Fayren and Attleton are currently experiencing some... difficulties. You're better off sticking to the main city until those matters have been tended to.

I'm Weiss Schnee, heiress to Schnee Dust Company in Remnant [ If they're doing titles and all, she might as well make sure she get some respect ] and current owner of Schnee Company here in Genessia. If you need any help, feel free to stop by our center and we'll do you whatever we can.

I'm rather new myself but so far everyone seems rather accommodating and nice towards newcomers. It might be a little disorienting.

It's an honor to be your first.
Ah. That's a relief to hear. The community can make a place bearable, if it must. Do you have friends here?
no subject
I do, my lady! Apparently...there's a lot of them here and they were here for a while but they seem to be in good spirits.
If you ever need help, please call on the Scouting Legion members here and we will do whatever we can to aid. Or..the 104th Trainees at least. [They all kind of just jumped ship into the Scouting Legion after the horrors of Trost.]

[After a few moments of consideration...]
Actually, your manners do take me back to a time... [A bit of a pause.] With such polite manners, there are probably several jobs you could look into even without previous experience.
[Audio]
Do you really believe so? [ That startles her- she's never worked before, unless you count being an Investigator. But if this place encourages her to try, she will try. ] That is a relief to hear, that I may have some chance. I was most worried.
Re: [Audio]
[And she really is, no hint of sarcasm or spite here. WHY SO CUTE???]
There tends to be a wide range of opportunities for any sort of skill set as long as one puts in the effort. I believe there's an employment office somewhere with a current listing of offered jobs if a person doesn't have the confidence or funding to start something on their own. I'm not sure if Fai is still hiring but his cafe is a good place to start if you don't mind getting stuck with a cute nickname.
Re: [Audio] Locked
You know Armin? I'm glad. He deserves as many familiar faces as he can get in this place. There is only a little bit of warning when a person arrives, usually a pair of wet feet and many questions. But there is nothing to show when a person leaves except when they no longer respond to direct transmissions. It would be wise to consider every hour here your last even after months or years.
i am sorry i am the slowest
[Video]
He tips his hat politely at the camera with a small smile.]
Hello, Miss Stark. I'm Luke Triton. It's nice to meet you.
[Stress and injuries don't reduce Luke's dedication to being a gentleman, after all.]
To be honest, Miss Stark, I don't really know what else it is we're to do. It isn't as though we all have specific tasks...we're just here.
[He shifts behind the camera, frowning.] Most people find jobs and get settled. I'm... not sure what else it is we can do.
weeps i'm sorry i'm the slowest.
And it's a delight to meet you too, Luke.
That's what everyone else has said, too. I suppose I'll have to view it as some sort of a vacation.
Huff no I'm perpetually slow too
[The boy considers this momentarily, his head tilted just slightly.]
Most of the time it isn't so bad here. I'd much rather be home, but...it's okay.
Do you have anyone from home here, Miss Stark? I might know where they live, or could help you find them if you need...
