What: Nova City Carnival

The NCC (Nova City Carnival) opens up its gates for business on the 27thof March. The line to get inside was decently long during the first few hours, but as the day went on it shortened as things got into full swing and booth attendants got into the flow. By noon the place was pretty packed, with there being so much to do, many people planned on spending the entire day there.

Come nightfall, it didn't thin out at all. If anything, attendance grew as more citizens of Nova City made there way there. The atmosphere is as positive as you can expect from being around people that are enjoying themselves. And it would continue on like this until the final day.

That actually happens?! People turn into statues? What happened? Did you come across a lot of resentful gods and go against them on your own, and at first you were fine but being only human one of them managed to disarm you and sitting there with a broken ankle, helpless, you stared at them bravely ready to accept your fate when suddenly you heard Takeru's voice yell something like, "Are you really that afraid of one human so much that you have to gang up on her at once?!" Your eyes surely would have widened in surprise, because you'd never expect Takeru to help you, but when you looked it was him, and he suddenly appeared more handsome to you than ever....

[He grins, fidgeting with excited energy.] Don't blink or do anything okay? [He runs a hand through his hair to look cool and tosses it...and he nearly makes it! But he misses by an inch.]

No, I was trying to catch up with him for our morning run while it was raining and fell down a cliff since the earth was loose. He jumped down after to save me, even if he didn't know if he could break Zeus-san's restraints or not. He did, and flew us both to safety. It was very touching, but Zeus-san tried to punish him and I.. [ She laughs a little, nervously. She's well aware she has a history of mouthing off to the king of gods when he does something she can't agree with. ] Takeru-san went to apologize eventually, but I stopped him and may have lost my temper with Zeus-san.. Everyone was there to support Takeru-san, and I sort of.. went off on Zeus-san because he didn't understand how compassionate Takeru-san was and how he was trying his best with everyone else. Zeus-san reversed his decision, but I did y-yell at him quite a lot.. It's a little embarrassing to think about now.

[ That's a polite way of saying she ripped Zeus a new one, anyway.. ]

Almost, Mikoshiba-senpai! Try again, I'm sure you'll do it! [ Encouragement ahoy! ]

[the_heroine]

[He listens to her story, staring at her with a look of awe. It sounds just like something out of one of his dating sims. These gods, and Yui...they were so extraordinary, compared to him.] Kusanagi-san...you're so cool!

[And it's even cooler that she treats it so casually!]

[Her encouragement keeps him from hiding in a corner the rest of the night! He can't let her down, after all!] I always choose to miss the first time! [He can't mess up can't mess up. He feels his face heat up, his palms beginning to sweat and he tosses it and this time makes it!]

Look, Kusanagi-san! Look at how perfect my aim is! Nothing less from your senpai!!!

Eh? Not really, I was just standing up for a friend.. You'd do the same thing, right, Mikoshiba-senpai?

[ Well, maybe.. She's sure that if he got swept up in it he'd do it anyway, but she kind of feels the same way when it comes to a lot of things.. ]

[the_heroine]

It depends on how stupid they're being...

[But none of his friends have ever risked being turned into statues. If they were, it might be different.]

Do you want me to try again? I can try again!

I don't think being stupid should be punished by being turned to stone in a world where time is frozen.

[ Just saying. ]

Sure, if you'd like to.

[the_heroine]

Maybe not forever, but a little while? But I would think that if I turned a person who was bothering me to a statue, looking at them would just piss me off more...

[He looks disappointed and hugs the stuffed animal he just won.]

I-I don't want to anymore!

[graduations]

No one should be turning anyone into a statue, Mikoshiba-san. For any period of time.

[ Wait, did he not actually want to play more..? Yui looks concerned for a moment, but he seems happy with his plush toy so she nods. ]

Is it alright if I try then?

[the_heroine]

But it would be tragic and that's...it's rewarding in its own sort of way and it could be the right motivation for someone to realize something!

[He just wanted to show her how cool he looks.]

You'll have to try harder if you want to impress your senpai. Fine, I guess. I'll watch this once.

[graduations]

I don't think tragedy is very rewarding.. it's sad, and it would hurt.

[ Yui isn't exactly a skilled dart thrower, so the first one she throws just kind of.. bounces off of the balloon somehow. Which since it's a dart shouldn't happen but that's how this game goes at carnivals sometimes... ]

It's more frustrating than hurtful... Especially when you worked hard to do everything and you think you did everything right. And then her younger sister suddenly shows her jealousy of the cute librarian and stabs her right in front of you...

But sometimes sad things can be interesting and fun if done right!

[Sensing the tension, he hugs his plush, staring at Yui intensely...and frowns when she doesn't win.]

You should have won. What the hell?! Let me see that dart!

[graduations]

St-Stabs!? Mikoshiba-senpai, I think your imagination is a getting a little away from you...

[ MIKOSHIBA WHY DID THIS TURN INTO LIBRARIAN MURDER?! ]

It's alright, Mikoshiba-senpai, don't worry.. I probably threw it at a weird angle and the tip didn't hit, that's all!

[the_heroine]

[He blinks at her, misunderstanding why she's so alarmed.] It's okay, Kusanagi-san. Your senpai will protect you. But I don't think we'll run into that situation here... [She's too oblivious. What would be the point? She'd turn it into friendship cures all or something.]

That still doesn't sound right. [He leans over the counter to grab the dart, mumbling a "sorry" while he's at it, and jumps over the counter to walk up to the balloon and try to poke it.]

[graduations]

That's not what I'm worried about, I'm worried about what kind of experiences you've had with people stabbing each other! That's not healthy!

[ Says the girl whose yandere is a god hellbent on destroying all the universe when his bad side takes over.. ]

Mikoshiba-senpai-!

[ The carney is coming over to yell at him now. ]

[the_heroine]

If I want to, I can usually talk my way out of it. But you can tell how much it means to the ones doing the stabbing... Girls are incredibly complex!

[Yeah Yui you have no room to talk.]

[Well he's frozen now because he didn't think anyone would yell at him. He just wanted to make sure the balloon would pop! He starts trying to talk, but he just makes distressed noises instead. Mortified, he brings his arms over his head, worried that any sudden movements will prompt an increase in the yelling volume.]

That doesn't have anything to do with girls so much as someone who needs very serious mental help!

[ She's pretty sure anyone who would willingly go around stabbing people need some kind of help- whether it's help to get around stabbing them or help to make them feel like they shouldn't stab people.

Yui's just going to apologize to the man now and gently pull Mikoshiba back. ]

[the_heroine]

It's just one type of personality out of many, Kusanagi-san. There's no need to freak out.

[He's trembling and there might be tears in his eyes, but he has them shut because he can't look at Yui now. He looks like he might burst into sobbing at any moment.]

[graduations]

That's not a personality type, that's a criminal...

[ Unless it wasn't their fault, anyway, but she's pretty sure that sounds like it would be their fault. ]

Hey, Mikoshiba-senpai, it's alright. Like I said, don't worry about it. That guy was pretty scary, huh? [ She's leading him away now, giving the guy an apologetic look as she tries to lead Mikorin off. ]

[the_heroine]

No it's not! A criminal is something else entirely. They might smoke and skip class but underneath their tough exterior they can be really warm and kind.

I wasn't scared! I...I didn't want my kouhai to see me in a fight! I'm sorry I failed you Kusanagi-san!

[graduations]

I think that's just a yankee. Smoking and skipping class isn't illegal, it's just frowned on.. That's definitely a criminal.

Ah, no, it's alright. I was scared, that's why we're leaving. [ No it isn't, but if Mikoshiba freaks out and breaks down, she's not going to know what to do.. she hasn't quite figured that out yet. ]

[the_heroine]

I guess. But I still wouldn't call her a criminal. [Maybe if it happened in real life.]

You were? [He seems to brighten.] I would have protected you if anything happened. But I understand not wanting to make a scene. [He doesn't want to either. It would be embarrassing, and distracting to people enjoying themselves.]

[graduations]

She's definitely a criminal. [ She sounds very insistent on this. ] You should be careful around people like that.

It's best to avoid something like that, yes.

[the_heroine]

I was careful and we eventually got past the stabbing. But I guess that would be intimidating for you if you were in that position?

You're such a good friend, Kusanagi-san! [He's serious. She always plays along to help him feel better, and even if she's oblivious, she's a kind person and he appreciates that.]

[graduations]

[ Hey even Balder didn't stab anyone. ] Mikoshiba-senpai, that's very dangerous! You should call the police, not move past it! That poor person who was stabbed.. did they ever catch her?

[ She smiles. ] Thank you. You're a good friend too, Mikoshiba-san. [ A little difficult to keep up with sometimes, but she has fun around him and likes him. ]

[the_heroine]

[No...not yet.] No, we ended up dating instead. And I dated the librarian too. [He smiles fondly and clasps his hands.]

[He looks uncomfortable and shrugs, looking to the side.] You don't have to be so clingy, Kusanagi-san.
