[ On waking in the pod, Lucy was admittedly very.. disoriented. It wasn't her apartment back home OR in that other world she'd been in for a year. MOreover, Natsu wasn't with her like usual. Or Levy, or Erza. But maybe they'd gone to scout ahead? ]

[ No, she was sure Natsu would have waited. After looking over the items left with her and familiarizing herself with the new equipment (thankfully she was familiar enough with a thing like that so it didn't take long for her to understand), she slipped out of the pod, searching around the Bay first, before heading out to the city.

Boy did she hope her friends were here somewhere. One can find Lucy exploring/scouting around not far from the Bay, her videophone in hand. ]

[ It isn't long after she's digested all the information she was given before she fussed with the videophone enough to turn it on to broadcast a question. ]

A pleasure my dear~! I must admit though, I am... mildly confused. In my world, magical abilities are not inborn, and must be induced through other methods.

[He makes a quick motion at his face.]

You, however, seem to lack any of the tell-tale scarring of the process. Is magic really so widespread where you are from?

[ Hey, Fairy Tail is FUUUUUUUULL of eccentric magic people! ... .... okay no Kefka pretty much took the cake on that one. She tilted her head curiously. ]

Other methods? What do you mean? [ Lachryma maybe? But no, he's not from her world, so it must be some other kind of method. Absently she touched her face, then shook her head with a smile. ]

Not everyone is a wizard back home, but they're probably in the majority of the population, at least in Fiore. There's more than one guild than Fairy Tail. [ And not all of them legal. ]

In my world, there are only two natural sources of magic. Espers - beings of pure magic that were created to fight a war for the Triad - and Magicite. Magicite is my area of expertise. It is a mineral that acts as a conduit for magical energy, as well as a limitless generator of power.

I pioneered the study of Magitek Engineering, and perfected the Magitek infusion process. That is what gives me my power.

[Of course he's leaving a lot of stuff out, like how Magicite is the physical soul of an Esper, but that's not important.]

Interesting. I would very much like to see these guilds for myself one day...

With the exception of being created to fight a war, your espers almost sound like the celestial spirits where I'm from. And the magicite is like our lachryma.

[ As for the infusing... well that kind of reminded her of a certain someone else back home. It wasn't the same process as lachryma weren't souls of spirits or anything (that would be horrifying to her) but.. ]

Ah, I'm not sure such a thing would be possible, with no doorway open back to our world here.

[ And she knew her friends weren't going to be inclined to give up a precious memory, power or item to do it. ]

Oh, this is not my first foreign world that I've ventured to. But that is a story for another time.

Tell me more about this... lachryma, was it~?

It isn't ? [ Noo, she wants to know noooooow. Also Lucy, don't tell the bad man about lachryma. ... okay not that you KNOW ahe's a bad man yet. ]

They're crystals found throughout Earthland. With a lachryma, you can charge elemental spells in them and use them for different things, like surveillance, communication, explosions, or watching movies.. [ You know, fun things like that. Oh and also infusing people with Dragon Slayer magic but that rather rare. ]

Fascinating~! A pure blank slate and conduit for the storage of magical energy... oooh, I would love to examine some in person.

[Seriously, if he could mass produce Lachryma with a function similar to the Slave Crown? Oh, the possibilities~!]

You see, each chunk of Magicite is unique in the magic it bestows. Some bestow fire, others lightning, etc. To have a blank slate that could be charged for later use would be... nothing short of a miracle~!

Well, right now I won't have access to a lachryma like that, but I hear you can open a way back home somehow - so if we do that, I can bring back a lachryma for you to see.

[ Clearly this is not a bad and terrible idea. For everyone except him. And Lucy would feel terrible about this. ]

Your magicite sounds really interesting too though - similar to our lachryma but different - I suppose that's to be expected given the difference in our worlds though. Are they rare as well? Something like that must be in short supply.

[Oh, if this girl can be manipulated into opening an archway for him, things would get all kinds of interesting.]

Oh, that would be wonderful my dear~! But yes, Magicite is an extremely rare mineral. Only found in one island in all the world. Each stone must be carefully utilized, lest anything go to waste. Of course, one chunk of the stuff can produce enough energy to provide electricity to the entire Gestahlian Empire indefinitely, with the right equipment.

[ It'll never happen! That price was too high a price for her. ]

Interesting... [ She looked thoughtful for a moment. Actually it kind of reminded her of her adventures on Edolas, but... Surely he didn't mean the magicite would be used like THAT.. ]

Something like that, must have a lot of people after it. Thieves and such, wanting to make a high profit off of it, right?

Oh, indeed! Magicite is my world's most treasured, and most limited of resources. That is why Emperor Gestahl has taken it upon himself to unite the world under one banner, so that all may reap the benefits of Magicite and do away with such antiquated notions of borders.

Very...ambitious of him to want to do something that... for so noble a cause.. [ That is, assuming it was for good reasons and not just a political way of saying WORLD DOMINATION BEBEH. ]

I'm sure something like that wouldn't be easy.

[He floats in, acting as if he's about to tell some sort of big secret.]

...between you and me, I think the Emperor is getting a little senile in his old age. He's been acting a little crazy~

[ In spite of herself, Lucy had to listen because secrets. She does love them. Though she was a little concerned about this emperor of his. ]

Well, you know how I said that Espers were the creation of the gods for a war of theirs? Well, legend has it that they got tired of their war, released the Espers from their servitude and turned themselves into stone, forming a triad of balance. One keeping another's power in check, and so on.

My Emperor thinks that he can harness their power to bring the world under one banner. Kinda bonkers sounding, huh?

So these Gods got tired of the war but the Emperor wanted to use the Espers anyway? .. probably not even with their consent - she couldn't imagine that the Espers would want to fight after years of bloodshed. She could be wrong though. "... Yes, it's completely 'bonkers'..!"

[Kefka just takes to floating on his back as if lounging on some invisible sofa.]

I mean, even if he knew where the Esper homeland was, and how to awaken the Floating Continent, brave the beasts that live there, and get to the Triad itself, it's not like he could harness their power. He hasn't been infused.

[ You know - she just has a really bad feeling about this entire conversation. It might be the nonchalant way he was telling her about this war and the espers and everything, but .. that last comment.. ]

You... dont' say.

[ He was infused. Was he seriously saying what she thought he was saying? ... TIME TO GO, LUCY. ]
