The man sat alone, back slumped against a wall as he stared down at the pistol in his hand, unloading and reloading it in silence. Over and over again. How long had he been here, ignoring the sounds of life around him and the chatter and racket from the communication device on the ground along with the discarded necklace? Days? Weeks? Months?

It didn't really matter. None of it did anymore.

Load. Unload. Reload.

"You look like crap."

The man looked up, staring upwards at his only companion for what felt like an eternity. Himself... only different, like seeing a photo negative version. The colors were all wrong and there were a few things off.

It had no eyes. He'd found that strange once before the feeling had been bled out of him.

Load. Unload.

It was this thing that had shown him the truth. It had started with whispers in his mind when he was alone and had grown from there, appearing in shadows, taking the place of his reflection and finally standing right there beside him exposing the plain, hopeless reality of where he'd found himself.

An ugly grin split the negative version's face.

"So, what's the hold up, jackass? You know what you have to do now."

Load.

Yeah, he did.

In the early morning, it happened without warning. A shudder ran through the entire city and for just a moment it was almost as if reality itself... bent for a moment, warping out of shape before snapping out of place and one of the buildings of Genessia's skyline vanished into a rising cloud of smoke and dust.

The thing rose up out of the cloud, standing over the buildings around it. Misshapen, grotesque, it could only be called humanoid in the most generous of terms. Its body was colored in splotches of red and black, its limbs twisted with the right arm many times larger than the spindly left and it stood on legs that should have been bent and twisted too awkwardly to support it at all.

The head swiveled from side to side on a too-long twiglike neck, wide, blanket white eyes that seemed painted on searched the city and a toothless mouth opened wide in a low, groaning howl that rumbled over the city.

The creature’s body convulsed and with a chorus of sickening splits and cracks its body bristled with weapons, and they all fired as one, shearing the top floors off of the next several blocks and covering the rest of the town in burning debris.

Through the city, every communicator screamed out a deafening alert, which was followed by the voice of the AI.

“CORRUPTED ELEMENTS DETECTED. PLEASE ASSIST IN PURGING IN ORDER TO ENSURE THE CONTINUED SURVIVAL OF THE CITY AND ITS INHABITANTS”

[And Ruby's going to take Erza's hand and climb up onto the Ham-jet. This would be so cool if they weren't fighting a giant monster, oh who is she kidding, it's still pretty freakin' cool.

She'll switch Crescent Rose back to it's gun form as the Ham-jet flies off to chase after the monster. She can worry about trying to distract it after they catch up with it.]

[...Not...exactly what he had in mind, but eh, it'll do. Ruby's supposed to be a hotshot with that scythe. As long as she doesn't fall off of the jet, he doesn't mind letting the two take the spotlight for now.]

It handles smoother than baby butts.

[Which probably sounds...kind of horrible, but there's no deeper meaning. The jet angles, circling behind the creature's hanging head. Maybe there's a weak spot in its back they can aim for.]

[OOC: Feel free to puppet Hammer's jet-flying skills, gotta lay down for a bit!]

[As they take off Erza shouts over the rush of wind.]

[Erza digs her iron-shod heels into the body of the jet, rooting herself firmly in place. There might be slight turbulence as she does so. She glances over her shoulder at Ruby.]

I'll keep the barrier lowered until we come under fire, just stay behind me. Keeping the magic circle intact whilst moving will require all of my attention. I'll leave attacking the creature to the two of you.

[She focuses back on the target, smiling thinly whilst readying her heavy shields. That's right, she hadn't introduced herself to her new comrades. And so in a voice overflowing with pride she shouts out.]

My name is Erza Scarlet and I'm a Fairy Tail wizard.

[Smoother than... what? That's not important now, she'll jam Crescent Rose into the Jet's hull to support herself, if she didn't she'd probably blow right off at the moment.]

Alright, we'll do our best to take it down. We've gotta keep our eyes peeled for anything that looks like a weak point.

[Oh? Another Fairy Tail Wizard? Cool!]

Captain Hammer.

[The terse greeting crackles over the loudspeakers. They might not be able to see him, but from the tone of his voice, it sounds like he's a little bit upset that they're just carelessly puncturing his jet when they could just, oh I don't know, RIDE INSIDE OF IT. But it's an action hero thing. He gets it. Heaven knows how many van and car roofs he's damaged with his mighty leaps to chase villains in over-the-top traffic pursuits.]

And if you'd both go a little easier on the ride, that would be great.

We'll do our best.

[Sorry Captain, this is the only way for the plan to work! She'll gladly help him fix it later, provided they don't get shot out of the sky.]

Ah so you're the girl Lucy mentioned. She said--

[She'd have to pick up this conversation later, right now the monster appeared to be weakening under the assault from the other parties.]

Captain take us closer to the head; while its distracted we'll blind it!

[Even if they destroyed one eye that would create a blind spot. She casts a quick glance back at Ruby.]

Can you make the shot?

She said...? She said what!?

[Oh right! The giant monster, priorities Ruby.]

Good idea. Take us in Captain Hammer, steady as she goes!

[No Ruby, you are not on a pirate ship.

She'll pull Crescent Rose out of the ship's hull and switches it over to it's sniper rifle form. She'll get down low and prepare the weapon to fire.]

Sure, I think I can manage that, no problem!

The monstrosity twiiiists its head up to focus in on the oncoming jet, mouth open in a low groaning roar, and those launchers stab from its eyes again.

And it's about then that the blinding shot from Harry's cannon strikes it, and the combined attacks from Harpuia and Natsu shred its legs and the massive bulk sags against one of the buildings. The missiles fired from its eyes go wild, streaking around the Ham-Jet and its passengers.

[That's their chance. Erza lowers her shield and ducks into a crouch for more stability. It was up to Ruby now.]

Now!

[Ruby will take aim with Crescent Rose as the rockets fly past the Hamjet.

Once the shield goes down she'll open fire, unloading her entire clip into one of the monsters eyes.

Eat dust, dirtbag!]

[Ruby's shots strike into its eyes, shredding them apart even while they already begin to regenerate. Almost as if it still senses the attack coming, it raises its head and roars at the approaching jet.

And then it seems to vomit up its entire arsenal from its mouth. Guns, rocket launchers, cannons, everything, suddenly surge from its throat and open fire wildly, both at the jet and to rain down over the city.]

Dammi--!

[Erza throws her arms up but the shield doesn't form in time to block everything. Stray bullets deflect off her armor as she tries to block Ruby, most are harmless but a few larger caliber rounds bite into the metal. The creatures ammunition doesn't feel like regular weaponry which means that the longer they bombard the shield, the weaker it would become.]

We can't stay here!

Uhmmm, Right!

[Think Ruby, Think. Oh! She's got an idea!] Captain Hammer, Take us up higher! Erza hold the shield up as long as you can! Once I'm off the jet pull back and get some distance

Oh! If you guys see me falling off that monster in a bit, could you try and catch me? Unless I'm exploded or something. IreallyhopeI'mnotexploded.

[Okay deep breath Ruby. This is idea is just crazy enough to work.

...Okay it's just crazy enough to kind of work.]

I'm going in!

[And once the Hamjet is high enough she'll dash off and free fall toward the head the monster. She'll use crescent rose to try and avoid any missile or cannon fire that heads her way and she'll just have to hope that her aura can hold up against any of the stray gunfire.

This monster has a date with the sharp end of her scythe.]
