I listened to the hologram, I read the materials, please. No double answers, I know there's no where, why, or how or everyone would be home already. I just want to know where a good place to stay is and where I can get a cage for this little guy.

I was feeding him in the lab and I guess he came over with me. His name is Echo, and I'm Liv Moore, Assistant M.E. under the Seattle Police Department. [ She offers a smile. It's the kind of smile that says "This is not what I wanted to be doing after work hours." ] I.. also need to know where the ME's office here is. If we need to get a job to afford a place to stay, I'd rather do something I'm familiar with. It's.. soothing, to stick to something familiar when everything's changing.

[ That was an experience she's already gone through. This was significantly less traumatizing, but at least this time she knew how to not end up moping on the couch eating Hellfire Cheesy Puffs for a couple of months. Now she just needed to worry about making sure she didn't end up some place worse than the sofa. ]

Britain is a country. Seattle is a city in the state of Washington, which is in the United States of America, which is a different country. A plane is a big hunk of metal that can fly through the sky at around 600 miles per hour. I have no idea what measurement system you use, but that's 965 kilometers per hour if that helps.

It does, thanks. [ even if he still didn't completely follow, it still made a lot more sense. ]

There aren't any of those plane things here, but we had something like that where I'm from. Balloons? Not the small ones that you tie to a string, but larger ones that could lift a ship into the sky.

Are we talking hot air balloons or full-on zeppelins?

Yeah, okay, it's something like that. But I doubt you control yours with firebending.

[ She should be more surprised. She can see memories and spontaneously develop other peoples' abilities for a while. On the other hand, way to streamline the torches and pitchforks.

That must be useful. How does it work? Are you a mutant?

[ It's a possibility that's been mentioned to her. ]

[ if zuko's yet to set betelgeuse ablaze, chances are, you're safe from him doing the same to you, liv. unless you give him good enough reason to... like going full-on zombie and munching on the contents of someone's skull. ]

Mutant? [ another odd sounding word that he nearly butchers. ] No, I'm pretty sure I'm not. I'm a firebender. A good portion of my country's population are born with the ability to firebend. It's not as uncommon as you'd think.

[ Unfortunately, it doesn't take the existence of firebenders for Liv to assume the use of fire against someone like her- just a basic understanding of how old horror movies go. Zuko is just the first person she can consider the possibility not involving some kind of propellent. ]

Something someone else mentioned. It's like.. regular humans with differences in their genetic- [ Wait, he probably won't- ] in how they were born that makes them present with varied physical attributes. So a mutation would be like if one person's eyes were two different colors or, apparently, superpowers in some worlds. Sometimes the mutations are neutral or beneficial to the species and they become more prominent, whereas others end up being a hindrance to survival and you end up with genetic disorders. There are a lot more technical details about mutations, but those are the CliffNotes. If firebending is common in your world, it's probably just a common beneficial mutation.

...yeah, but how does that explain the Avatar?

The Avatar is the only one with the ability to bend all four elements: fire, water, earth, and air. When an Avatar dies, they're reincarnated so that the cycle is continued.
