[Klaus didn't particularly like the rain but Everglade was an excellent spot for finding some of the more... unusual plants and many were the kinds that thrived in rain and fog. He'd resigned himself to dealing with the unpleasant weather for the sake of getting some interesting stock for the greenhouse. It had been a very good idea that Klaus had decided to opt for more casual wear for his escapade. He'd donned a pair of dark denim slacks held up by suspenders, a rust-coloured collared shirt, a charcoal black, tweed waistcoat with a matching ivy cap, and a pair of red wellingtons. He was pushing along a plastic wheelbarrow containing his gardening tools and few samples he'd already dug up and carried an umbrella that hadn't done much to keep the rain off.
He was not alone in this venture. His Eevee, aptly named Liebling, seemed to be enjoying himself immensely, gamboling about his legs, splashing in puddles, or clambering up onto Klaus's shoulder because he liked to feel tall (and one didn't get much taller than the seven-foot giant). Klaus had more muck on him in the shape of the little creatures paw-prints than from kneeling in the damp foliage when collecting his samples.
Humming tunelessly under his breath, he turned off from the sidewalk into a more densely wooded area, quite oblivious to the possible dangers that lurked in Everglade.]

Barkbeast (a Houndour) is out, sniffing at tree trunks and occasionally peeing on them to mark territory. The water on the ground sizzles and steams as the fire pokemon steps on the wet mulch, but he doesn't seem to care about the wetness with the amount of smells the forest provides.
Trunching through the wilds in the rain doesn't is no reason to abandon fashion, however, and Porrim is sporting a coordinated trenchcoat and rainboots over a cute dress and some modest jewelry, along with a printed umbrella.
Barbeast runs up to Klaus enthusiastically, barking and slobbering and getting mud all over his nice slacks. ]
Bad Barkbeast! Down!
no subject
My goodness, what a fine dog you are!
[He gently eased Barkbeast down when he heard Porrim chiding the animal.]
Good afternoon, Miss Porrim. Out for a walk?
no subject
[ She bends over when Barkbeast returns, petting the mischievious little scamp on the head, probably rewarding his bad behavior. She gives an amused glance at Klaus' wheelbarrow. ]
You're out for quite a different purpose it looks like.
no subject
[He scratches Liebling behind the ears for emphasis. Somebody spoils his babies rotten.]
And you're correct. I'm hoping to cultivate some of the unique fauna from here and Fayren back at the greenhouse. I've seen some truly astonishing blooms and I'm curious about their properties.
[He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.] That, and autumn is fast approaching. So I'd like to help with getting samples before winter hits.
Have you had any luck finding the ghost types here?

[He knelt down beside a small patch of ferns, and gently pried them aside to reveal a small vividly red flower with white spots and dark, green leaves that had an odd sheen to them.]
Apparently these animals have been in this world before though they were sent back. I confess, I'm reluctant to part with them - ah, thank you Liebling. What a help you are.
[The little Eevee had strutted over with Klaus's spade in his mouth, his tail fluffed with pride. Klaus showered the tiny creature with affection and praise.]
no subject
Until then I guess we just have to have as much fun as we can.
no subject
[His words and expression didn't quite match up. He held the little brown ball of fluff a bit closer as he dug up the small flower, mindful of its roots.]
You don't much care for keeping them in the little devices as well, do you?
no subject
Qwill actually prefers it in the ball if we're doing any significant moving. He's a tad on the lazy side. Barkbeast is helping me track and loves the smells.
no subject
[No Klaus, you just spoil them and they know how to get treats out of you.]
Have you been keeping well at your new job?

[He worried about things like that. He was a very trusting man, but he knew some employers took terrible advantage of those working for them.]
no subject
How about you, where are you working? You don't have a permanent position at Terra's flower shop, do you?

Before realizing where her pokemon are leading her she finds herself at the archway towards Everglade. There is one girl that she knows here though she's only ever seen her at night. Either way it might do well to see if she can visit. Without much haste she walks with her pokemon through the gate.
After a few short moments Chespin decides to run off towards one of the gatherings of trees.]
Wait!
[Terra frantically chases after him, only after picking up her cute little seal. She knows that the little pokemon can't run quickly. When she catches up to Chespin he's standing in front of Klaus and staring at him.]
Klaus? I'm so sorry...
no subject
Klaus looked at the Chespin. The Chespin looked at Klaus.
And very slowly, he knelt down, taking off one of his gardening gloves and extending a massive hand to the animal.]
Well hello, little fellow. Are you lost?
[He looked up when he heard running footsteps getting closer. He got to his feet, in case it was one of those odd gang members he'd heard about.
But it wasn't. It was Terra.]
Miss Branford? No, please, there's nothing to apologize for. What brings you out in this weather?
[He went for his umbrella, and offered it to her. He'd long since given up on keeping the rain off himself - his red hair was plastered down, his clothes quite damp and he was covered with muddy pawprints from letting Liebling use him as a jungle gym. Presently, the little Eevee was in the wheelbarrow, watching the Chespin curiously.]
no subject
They were feeling a little constrained inside. I thought I'd close up for a few hours and let them walk around.
[The little seal in her arm wiggles and squeaks.]Spheal
Are you looking for plants then?
[Her ferns haven't escaped her notice.
no subject
[He motioned to the small collection. Some unusual flowers were there as well.]
You mentioned wanting to grow the collection in the greenhouse. I thought I'd collect some samples to see which would meet with your approval.
[He rubbed his chin thoughtfully, smearing a bit of mud on it in the process.]
There's a number of rather unusual varieties I've never seen before. [He clears his throat, mindful that not everyone is a giant nerd for plants.] Apologies. I take it this little fellow got away from you?
no subject
[He knows far more than she does and while sometimes she can't keep up she loves to listen to it. It makes her happy, though she doesn't really recognize the emotion as such but listening to someone talk about something they love. There is a certain timber to the voice and it bleeds warmth into those around him. It's something like magic.]
Chespin likes to wander though he's gentle.
[She only has two pokemon but since she refuses to keep them in their pokeballs it's a lot to handle. Spheal usually stays still while Chespin likes to wander around.]
no subject
You're most gracious, Miss Branford.
[Liebling hopped out the wheelbarrow, scuttling up to Chespin to give him a sniff. Klaus's Eevee was quite curious about, well, everything.]
It's a bit dangerous for them to be wandering about. There's that gang that seems to keep popping up, though I've yet to encounter any of them.
[Possibly because even Team Rocket didn't have members stupid enough to challenge a seven foot brick shithouse over a handful of starter-level pokemon.]
no subject
I know... They attacked me in Genessia a few days ago...
[She doesn't care for fighting even if she has a talent for it. Chespin had been able to fight off the attack at the time though there is no saying what might have happened.]
But... I can't keep them in the small ball...
[Terra knows something personally about prisons and because of her past she doesn't even like it when Chespin fights other pokemon though he seems determined to do so.]
no subject
[They were just so small! It was everything he could do not to scoop up his tiny, precious babies.]
Still- [He knelt before the Chespin again, patting him lightly on the head. Liebling took the opportunity to scrabble his way back up onto Klaus's shoulder. He liked to be tall.] - you mustn't wander too far from Miss Branford, bärchen.
[He looked back to Terra.] These gang members seem to take it for granted that we would even let them try to fight our pokemon. I'm curious what's stopping anyone from simply knocking them out? The seem like normal humans after all.
no subject
I don't like fighting. [She's already cursed by nightmares of fire and war. She has no desire to relive it once more. She doesn't want to be a monster anymore. Terra looks up at Klaus.]
Would you fight them? Given the chance?
no subject
Fight? Yes. There are children partaking in this. I would hate for something to happen to them because of gang violence. Though... these gang members don'[t seem particularly old themselves.
[He frowned - he knew about the systems of indoctrination gangs used. It was quite common.]
I don't blame you for not wanting to fight, though. Little good ever comes of senseless violence.
no subject
Have you spoken to Mewtwo?
[He's the only one that she's heard trying to do anything. She had told him of Team Rockets attack in Genessia.]
no subject
[His smile fades a bit and he surveys Terra with concern.]
You weren't attacked were you?
