[ Balthier has never seen architecture like this before, or so many vehicles, or hear any quite so loud. He's figured out the hologram was just that, though; a projection, and pre-recorded it would seem.
When he follows the clever instructions provided him with his communicator, though, he finds it exceptionally simple to operate, which is fortunate.
The face that appears on the screen is young, and his expression is less than pleased. He also looks like a man who could use a cup of coffee as he attempts to straighten the sleeves of his shirt, which is wrinkled from sleeping in that pod. When he speaks, though, his tone only sounds bored with a small edge of annoyance.]
While I'm quite obviously not the only person around, I wonder just how many of you have these communicators. It's strange, though. Our kidnappers don't seem to know how to operate a proper ransom. Take note, if you would: we're supposed to be used as leverage for payout. You shouldn't be offering us money.

[He chuckles as he moves to the lavatory and shuts the door behind him. He doesn't take very long before he returns with the requested sample.]
Congratulations. Not many can claim to have willingly acquired a sample of Balthier's urine.

[ She takes it, a fresh pair of gloves on, makes sure it's properly sealed and puts a sticker on it with the sample name before putting it in the sample refrigerator. She then takes off her gloves and washes her hands before coming back over. ]
Thank you. With any luck this might be a first step to finding out something useful.

[ Liv's clearly gotten a little on edge after making that jump. Headhunters don't typically go after friendly, hardworking people as far as she's aware. He wouldn't be the first criminal she's known and hasn't turned in, but that doesn't mean she's likely to trust him off the bat once she knows that.. helpful or not. ]
You're one of the first. There was a different scientist in the lead on these projects for a long while and she was intent on taking a different direction that was more skewed toward her expertise.

[ She pauses for a moment. Honestly, she can see why there'd be headhunters after him but... there's only a couple of crimes she's really worried about. ]
