I'll give him a PIZZA MY MIND ROFLMHOOMGLOLOLOLOL
WHO: Captain Hammer, OPEN!
WHAT: Hammer's organized a little meet 'n greet over pizza, his treat. What a nice superhero!
WHEN: November 27, 2013 - 7:00 p.m.
WHERE: Geraldi's Pizzeria - Genessia City
NOTES: Both prose and [action] tags are fine! There's also no pose order. GO NUTS. Don't forget to add your tag!
There's something very inviting about a pizza parlor. The combination of spices never fails to set a man's stomach to grumbling, and Captain Hammer is no exception. He's arrived twenty minutes early to put down an order for three extra large pies, figuring that would probably be enough to feed the ones who responded to his proposition. And if more arrive, they'll just order a few more pizzas.
He figured this was a good way for the people stuck in this weird little dump to know who they could befriend (each other) and who they could rely on to punch villains in the face (and that would be him).
The pizzas were set out on a long, high table ringed by barstools. There were plates, napkins, forksfor the weak, a basket of breadsticks, a pitcher of root beer on one end, and a pitcher of real beer on the other. Hammer himself was perched on one of the barstools, enjoying a slice of pizza heaped with pepperoni and olives. One boot rested on the floor, the other was hooked on the lowermost rung of his barstool.

Now that she's there, she's sitting at the end of the table making new friends and socializing--haha, no. It looks like she's already stumbled across the library and already has a book open in front of her while occasionally pausing to take a small bite of the pizza slice on the table beside her.

Try that book next.
"Aren't you worried you might get pizza grease on the pages?" Captain Hammer asked, pouring himself a glass of beer before easing another slice of pizza onto his plate.
no subject
Take this Hammer guy for instance.
"Not really." As if to prove her point, she picked up her slice of pizza and took another small bite before setting it down and carefully wiped any such grease off of her fingers on a napkin beside the plate and turning the next page. She glanced over the top of the book. "I've had plenty of practice at doing this."

"I'm Captain Hammer. And you are...?"
no subject
"Blake." She gave him a questioning look over her book. First "the Doctor" and now "Captain Hammer," people had a thing with names around here apparently. "Is that your real name?"
no subject
But mostly, a secret identity was just cooler that way.

Still, as logical as it was, there was still one flaw that stood out to her.
"And blackhearted criminals don't recognize faces where you're from?"
no subject
He even did his dry cleaning under his superhero guise.
"You know how it is," he waved it off casually. "There's always some wannabe trying to make a name for himself in the criminal world. Can't say I've had time to relax in years."
no subject
She tries not to bristle too much at the way he keeps talking about "criminals", being one herself technically. But then, maybe he was lucky and things really were that cut and dry where he came from.
"Are there a lot of people like you where you're from?"
no subject
He knew this might not be the case in Genessia. It would be interesting to rub elbows, so to speak, with those who might have legitimate super powers. You know. As long as they weren't evil and deserving of face punches.

"So... What's this one about?"
no subject
"It's a book of poems. This one's about a sailor who wound up stranded at sea after accidentally cursing his ship."
no subject
There are still some books that Blake will freak out and not let Ruby read or find out what they're about and she's not exactly sure why. She's glad this isn't one of those times.
"Oh? How'd he manage that?" The beginning was on the last page so she's a bit behind. Sorry for the backseat reading Blake.
no subject
"Their ship was trapped, when a bird appeared that led them to safety. After they were out, the sailor shot and killed it and so the whole crew ended up cursed as a result." She doesn't mind so much. Another perk of being one of those exceptions.
no subject
"Wow. What a jerk. That's the part where you're supposed to feed the bird and thank it for it's hard work." Okay, now that she's got the plot recap, she can back seat read quietly now.
no subject
"That's one way to put it." She says with a quiet chuckle. Leave it to Ruby to sum things up like that.

This kid kept to herself and prefers to read a book in a social gathering? It's like looking in the mirror, Sofia thought. She doesn't have a book of her own, any reading material she has is in her smartphone which doesn't feel the same as reading things in a hard-bound book.
Sofia just continued to observe Blake while having some tea, since she isn't the type to start conversations either.
no subject
She's interrupted in her people watching by the familiar sensation of eyes on her, and for a second there it's almost like one side of her bow twitches a little in Sofia's direction before she turns her head slightly to spot the woman lookng her way.
"Yes?"
no subject
"What is that book about?"
no subject
Still, all the more reason not to let on.
"It's a book of poems." She glances down at it. "I passed by a library the other day so I thought I'd see what kind of books this place had."
no subject
"I see. It's good to know the libraries here still keep hard copies. Almost everything is digital these days, it just doesn't feel the same..."
Sofia took a sip of tea from her cup before setting it down on the table. She cleared her throat and fixes the fringes of her hair before she looked to Blake again.
no subject
But, human or not, it was always nice to meet somebody who appreciated the value of a real, physical book over a digital version.
"Mmh." She nods in agreement. "It's the same where I'm from. Almost everything is available in an electronic form, but it doesn't feel right to me."
no subject
Sofia thought of inviting Blake to sit on her table, but for now she's testing the waters.
no subject
"Extensive. It looks like it isn't just people from other worlds being brought here, there were some books talking about stories and myths that don't exist on my world."
no subject
"I'm interested to learn more about your world. I can tell it's much different from mine" From Blake's clothes, her unnatural eye-color, and that sword on her back, it definitely is different from Sofia's modern world.
