1st Aura | Video/Action
[The video begins with Jaune looking very confused about something.]
I just saw someone I know which doesn't make any sense because it hasn't been that long since I saw her.
Uhm. Hi, name's Jaune Arc. [There's no need to panic because he did that already. He tries to smile and look confident but the fact that he's soaked and the way his smile twitches like he's barely holding it together kind of detracts from his effort.]
And I guess I'm here. Like...everyone else who's here!
Does anyone here know Weiss Schnee? We go to the same school, which is why it's really weird to see a hologram of her and find out that she's running a company here. Is there anyone else from Remnant here too? Otherwise, I guess I'll look into employment. Yeah. There's no reason to freak out over it or anything. I'm definitely not doing that right now.
[Action]
[He turns off the video and his expression becomes much more obviously unsure as soon as he does. He leaves the Bay, attempting to use the map to navigate to Schnee Company. He's glad to have his weapon and shield on him, regardless of what Hologram Weiss said. Eventually he starts aimlessly wandering through Genessia. It's not that he can't read a map he caneasily read a map. But he's distracted by the fact that he's in a different world. Feel free to run into him.]

[He bows his head like he's conceding to his execution and not agreeing to something as harmless as pajamas.]
I promise to wear boring pajamas.
[It's a win!]
That's plenty of time to win over enough people. It can't be that hard.
video;
[ Does she want to electrocute them all? Maybe. ]
Thank you. I can't take you seriously at all when I see you wearing something I'd expect to see a toddler in.
[ Thanks for trivializing how hard she worked to get where she is Jaune. She looks so happy about it. ] You also have to actually be capable of defending the city you run for, Jaune. Unless you can prepare yourself in 6 months to surpass a number of other candidates in physical abilities, magic, strategy, knowledge of the area, and intellect I doubt you'll have a chance. I didn't even think I had a chance when I first arrived.
video;
[Was it the pajamas this whole time? If that's the case he'll get some really sophisticated ones.] They're not that bad.
[Why does Weiss look grumpier than usual?] Of course you had a chance! You're Weiss Schnee, you're like, super smart. I guess there's no guide for becoming a Guardian, is there?
video;
[ No, but she can judge him for them anyway. ] They are.
I'm also realistic about my expectations of myself. Jaune, you may know me from back home, but there are a lot of things I've been through here that I haven't had to back home. [ One of the things he may notice, though it's not visible because she's got gloves on for the cold weather right now, but she definitely has a scar on her left hand that looks like Torchwick's symbol. Fun times. ] Becoming a Guardian typically involves wanting to protect this place and these people. You don't just pop out of nowhere and think you're a semi-decent fighter so you're qualified.
video;
You're just bitter they don't have ruffles.
Well, yeah. You've been here two years, so things are going to be different. They just are. Oh. ...You don't think I care enough? [He's not hurt. It's stated as a fact. He thought it would be a good way to be a hero.] Because I just got here and you've been here a while? Maybe you're right.
video;
I wouldn't wear a onesie if it had ruffles.
Obviously. There was a while when I actually considered finding a way to stay here, Jaune. Wanting to protect in general is great, but when there's actually something at stake it's worth a lot more. Besides.. believe me when I say you're not prepared for all the strange stuff that happens here. It's far beyond normal.
video;
That's too bad. You're missing out.
You...you seriously cared that much about this place that you were trying to stay? [He looks shocked at that. Okay, maybe this is more serious than he thought.] If it's that bad, can you give me an example?
video;
I'm not missing out.
I've been here a while Jaune. Time doesn't pass back home, it wouldn't have hurt anyone if I had stayed longer and I would've gotten back eventually... Maybe. I don't know, we're learning some perplexing things lately.
But there are things here that are outside the barrier that can suck your soul right out of your body. It's not fun nor is it easy to get it back. As a bonus, conventional weapons only seem to shoo them temporarily instead of kill them.
video;
Of course you'd come back. We're not permanently stuck here.
Doesn't sound that different from home. How high a risk are we at right now of that happening?
video;
[ They'll start with one chore for now. ]
Well... I'm not sure anymore? I mean, some of the things the Research Foundation has found in combination with some of the information Levy over at Scripts and Scribes obtained.. aren't exactly ideal for the "going home" plausibility. It's still possible, but there are a few other explanations it seems like some people are leaning toward. You probably shouldn't worry about it until we get some solid answers.
The barrier isn't cracked, so right now, not very. It's only happened twice as far as anyone can remember. But.. back home we can actually kill Grimm. These things we've developed theoretical technology for but.. honestly, when they break through, there's so many of them that if you get cornered and happen to run out of both Dust and Aura it can be.. unfortunate. Needless to say I got better. Then there are the actual people here who can become a problem sometimes.
video;
So we are stuck here? Or we might be? Right, I'll just pretend I didn't hear that, because that's something that's easy to not worry about.
Wait-- You got your soul sucked out?! That's... That's terrible! I'm glad you're better. But if we have the technology, can't we just...make more of it? Really? People are the problem? Everyone seemed nice to me. Except some person who calls you Snow White.
video;
Temporarily. We can't make more because there are limited resources and not every person that arrives here can be trusted with them. The whole reason I even opened the subarchway to Beacon was because we needed the lockers to appropriately distribute them in case of emergencies since the only ones who have access to them are Guardian Haller and myself- and I only get access because I put up my sacrifice for rocket lockers to help protect this place.
The Snow White thing is... [ Weird, to say the least. ] Sun found a book once that had his name as a character, then we found that a lot of people from our world all have books or stories that go with what their names are. Weiss Schnee translates to Snow White, which is a story about a princess whose step mother hires a man to try to cut out her heart because she's prettier than the step mother. He lets her go so she has to go live in the woods with seven dwarves in exchange for housework. The Queen inevitably finds out and tries to kill Snow White three times, managing to put her into a coma on the last one. Eventually a prince comes along and falls in love with Snow White, kisses her and that wakes her up, then they get married and make the Queen dance around in hot iron shoes until she dies as punishment. Fairy tales in other lands are strange.
[ She pauses for only a split second, holding her hand up before he tries to suggest anything about being some kind of prince. ] Before you ask, I think your counterpart is some woman named Jeanne D'Arc from some worlds' histories. She's a woman who thought she was destined for great things, so she joined the military with zero training whatsoever and somehow lead them to victory, then was eventually captured by the enemy and burned alive at the stake. At least you've got a leg up on having trained before coming to Beacon- that just seems irresponsible.
video;
This world is connected to Beacon? We should visit! But if not everyone can be trusted with them...what makes these weapons so powerful? Please tell me a sacrifice is just another word here and you're using it to mean something totally different from what it sounds like.
[He's imagining Weiss living in the middle of nowhere woods doing housework for others and the image just makes him chuckle.] Well, you are pretty, but it's kind of creepy someone would fall in love with someone who's in a coma. And if someone was trying to kill you, you'd probably outsmart them! Not hide in the woods and hope for the best. I wonder why our names are related to these stories.
I share the name with a great warrior? Sounds cool, except the burning alive at the stake part. I'd rather skip that. [Something in his expression clouds over when Weiss mentions he's trained.] Yeah. Irresponsible.
Re: video;
[ She shakes her head at that, holding out a hand. ] It's not connected to the real Beacon, but a replica of it. Anything that happens in the Beacon here won't reflect what happens at home. The weapons have had some of the spirits themselves bound to them. And sacrifices don't mean like.. living creature sacrifice, don't worry. I just had to give up something important to me to pay for it. It wasn't like it was really useful here or anything, it was just.. [ Important to her and only her. ] Just cluttering up space anyway. You can give up memories or abilities, anything important to you. Apparently it has something to do with bringing things here attracting more of the spirits I mentioned before.
I actually agree with you. I can't figure out everyone's, of course, but Neptune is the name of a god, there's a general named Pyrrhus in some of the history books, I have no idea who Nora and Ren coincide with, nor Yang and Blake. I found a book called "Killing Ruby Rose" about a girl who's good at school and ends up following in her dad's footsteps and becomes a teen vigilante assassin of criminals or something along those lines, so I think that might be it. [ Wrong, Weiss. ] I think Professor Oobleck is some kind of green blob from a children's story called Bartholomew and the Oobleck. Obviously the resemblances end at names.
