[Filter targets: Armin, Vyers, Natsu, Lucy, Zeref, Satsuki, David, Mewtwo, Weiss, Koishi, Satori, Fai, and Sakura. There will also be a mental shield bubble attachment labeled: For Mental Protection for those who need it. The mental shield will activate any passive cluster of her telepathic threads within a mile radius to reform around the person in a protective telepathic web which protects against mind control. Also, this is made at 1am. ]
It seems that child is still of the mindset of 'my way or the highway' and will not consider any other except as lesser in value. He continues to assume that he is the only worthy rule of law and there are none who can possibly challenge his power. I had hoped that his human origin would at least give some form of understanding to maintaining a balance but... [An irritated click of her tongue.]
From what I can tell, the original balance in Everglade was maintained with shades of grey and elements of normal balancing the supernatural. Yes, there was an unease after sunset but as long as one kept out of certain areas there weren't more than the occasional nervous glances at the overgrown bushes. Necromancy was almost as helpful as harmful before the full ban and I feel it was that imbalance between normal and paranormal that caused the crack to appear.
[After a moment she'll take a deep breath.]
Well, that is my theory. But if one looks at the main traits of all five cities I found them to be linked. A past with magic, a future with technology, two cities exploring unspiritual norms versus a spiritual hot-pot, and the city between them all with a mix of each. It is almost as if this place is trying to figure out which way is better. Dracula was the first to consider the use of fear to strengthen the barrier in Everglade. I'm concerned that if previous attempts at subduing the supernatural caused a crack in the barrier, what will the return swing of the pendulum bring?
[Another pause as if Bridget is distracted by something for a moment.]
Well, that is my current main consideration on the immediate situation. I'm not discounting any number of factors including the chance Dracula might be potentially correct. But I admit to doubting due to his sudden influence over the mayor. There is another matter I suppose I should also consider.. I'm seeking advice on temporary to long term housing options. I don't mind sharing if there's ample space and a lack of loud activity while the sun is high. I also need a rather large closet area. In modern housing plans it is sometimes easier to put my bed in the closet and use the room for crafting and storage.

What if it's just emotions that helps the barrier? Fear is easy to feel and everyone has it while it's harder to feel other things so it only looks like it's working.
[She yawns.]
I don't know about housing... I live with Fai. [Another yawn and a soft squeeze as Sakura tries to wake up.]
Dracula shouldn't make people afraid.
Re: Audio//Private
Go back to sleep, young one. It's a good idea that I'll consider fully, but you will be able to think better after a few more hours. I'm not belittling you, you just aren't adjusted to a nocturnal life. Shall we meet for breakfast?
Audio//Private
I'm fine...
[Except she still sounds sleepy and her statement is followed by a yawn.] I want to help.
Re: Audio//Private
Hm... I need a favor then. Well, actually, two favors. It'll be a bit difficult but will be of great assistance.
[A slight pause.]
In about five hours, could you cook a huge breakfast? Perhaps enough for around five to eight people? Feel free to draw hearts or write inspirational words with condiments. Actually, the more the better. The second favor will be a lot more difficult I'm afraid.
Audio//Private
I can do that. [yawn.] what's the second favor?
Re: Audio//Private
[a slight pause]
And perhaps a few hugs. There are some things people see over the years or even centuries that wound the heart and spirit. Smiles and hugs from someone like you can be the best medicine for such wounds. It is a reminder of the little, more personal things worth fighting for when glory and world peace seem untouchable.
Audio//Private
I can do that.
[She still looks sleepy but the request sinks into her memories, never to be forgotten.]
If it helps.
Re: Audio//Private
[Another small laugh.]
Just remember to set an alarm for six in the morning.
Audio//Private
Done! I'll make sure I'm up.
[She yawns again and then almost drops her phone.]
[ Video/private ]
[ She also knew about the barrier, and she'd sent message to Fai, and a few others, but... ]
I'm finding it particularly suspicious too, to be honest. [ But these people of Everglade were really bringing it on themselves, not doing anything about him and all. ]
Were you living in Everglade? In terms of space, we have a spare room at the guild - it's.. not particularly loud or lively, but there are a number of people staying here while the Hands of Decay issue is being investigated. But there's plenty of room - there's an area you can use for your crafting as well, If you like, for the time being.
Re: [ Video/private ]
[A bit of a thoughtful pause.]
I gave him a subtle ultimatum before the invasion to respect women, children, and cooperating civilians but he even ignored that. There may be an eventual date between the two of us but until then I'll have to put my attention towards fireguarding Everglade after dark. At least until Haller organizes something more long-term.
[And another pause, this time more wary.]
What is this Hands of Decay issue? I haven't been able to monitor more than one dimension at a time just yet. Hopefully I'll be able to break that restriction soon.
[ Video/private ]
What does David have to do with things though? He's not a Guardian of Everglade. Is he getting involved after hearing about that idiotic ruling the Everglade Mayor conveniently declared?
Ah, the Hands of Decay are an organization of cowards and bigots with an anti magic lean. They've been threatening every mage in Fayren and trying to pin the blame of the latest attack on mages because a summoner for some reason, made it possible to bring monsters into town. ... a lot of people were injured or killed, unfortunately. Normally Fairy Tail is all but empty, so Natsu and I decided to open its doors to mages in Fayren who wanted sanctuary, as well as non-mages who are friends or relatives. We're only here as long as this issue isn't resolved. If you're worried for your safety, you don't have to come, of course, but we're not about to let anyone get past the walls of the guild, so it's safe there.
Re: [ Video/private ]
[A snort of open contempt.]
I had a faint hope at first that his shift into a lesser immortal might have given him a better understanding of how both genders of humans and non-humans could find balance. At the first 'my dear', I only stayed to spy on his actions and calculate his power while concealing my own.
[And then a thoughtful pause.]
Does that not seem somehow suspiciously well-timed? Hmmm... I'll get with Fai and David about covering Everglade for now. They should be able to cover the little brushfires without me after tonight. Since I believe I'm Dracula's equal in terms of raw power, I'm worried more about finding a quiet place to sleep with a large closet than any threat to my safety.
[ Video/private ]
[ She nods. ]
Oh absolutely. There is too much that's suspicious about the entire situation, I don't buy any of what the City Guards are claiming; especially considering that Arlen - the summoner - didn't have -any- injuries on his own body, and the dagger used to kill his wife didn't have his scent on it. They're still investigating but I don't have high hopes for their outcome if they aren't going to take our information into consideration.
[ She grins a little. Dracula was hardly as fearsome or powerful as he claims, if mere mortals like her and Natsu could send him running with his tail between his legs. But it was good to hear Bridget was just as, if not more, powerful as he. ]
Well, whatever you decide, our offer remains open to you.
Re: [ Video/private ]
[a thoughtful pause.]
I must admit that I'm not exaggerating. Humans breed like mice compared to my species' expectation of a child or two in a thousand years. Which is probably why I don't believe on meeting my chosen opponents in an equal battle.
[The light chuckle could hardly be called warm.]
I'll leave the main load at Rocks for now and arrive at your front gate within an hour of sundown. The least I can do is give a old war horse's assessment of your situation.
[aka: Bridget shall be your new powerhouse for the next week or three, nice to meet you!]
Re: [ Video/private ]
I'll let Natsu know to expect you if I don't see you first.
[ ooc woo! XD ]
Re: [ Video/private ]
[She heard that! And is too amused to ignore that mutter. Seriously though, cats are totally the name of the game!]
[ooc: Working on a backdated log now!]
Re: [ Video/private ]
Really?
[ Not the best choice of wording their guest could have made.]
Re: [ Video/private ]
And cats are messengers of the devil to consort with soul-stealing witches, wolves want to eat babies, rhinoceros horns are an aphrodisiac... Would you like me to tell you what my species resembles?
Re: [ Video/private ]
What do cats have to do with anything?
[ They weren't even talking about cats! ]
Unless your point is how you can offend people and animals by likening them to outdated rumors, no.
Re: [ Video/private ]
I'm in the middle of keeping an eye on a gate-wide non-human free for all trying to keep the anarchy to manageable levels, animal comparisons are the best I can do right now. My point is that mice aren't as dirty and diseased as people think and I've certainly been in enough sewers and back alleys to know.
[Another pause as she seems to be throwing some young-sounding bi-pedals against nearby head-busting objects. There might be a few who manage to growl and use some very select phrases towards Bridget that no upstanding citizen would ever dream up.]
Outside only, diaper-tails. I'm marking you this time, but next time I'll-[and the audio will be cut for a minute or two. Lucy doesn't need to know how a Dark Ages military officer delivers threats.]
Re: [ Video/private ]
[ Mice were disgusting, disease ridden pests. Although... why the heck was Bridget carrying on a conversation when it sounded like what she was doing was far more important and needed far more of her attention? People these days! ]
Since you're in the middle of things I'll leave you to it. I have to let everyone here to know they can expect you anyway.
"I wonder though... what would the other barriers need to function if that does turn out to be true? It would be important to know so that they could be maintained in each city." Koishi wasn't smiling anymore. "What the mister in the castle has been doing makes me worry. Where I come from a shrine maiden maintains balance and the barrier. Sis was worried about this imbalance last night over dinner, though she's having enough trouble with tracking down the Hands of Decay. I decided that I think we should wait and see if this helps. But if the mister in the castle gets too powerful that's a big problem too."
She didn't dwell too much on it. "You never mentioned the person by name who was acting like a child, but I'm guessing you mean Mister Spades... The person who was guardian of Everglade last. We can hardly blame him for something like this. Even if it was his fault, none of us knew this. Or the people who did know didn't share properly. He does understand the concept of emotions giving strength to people now so I can speak with him."
Re: [Video/Private]
"I have revised my first estimation of the situation every hour, Koishi. But yes, we met at the hotsprings with... Miss White? The one acting like a child though is not the previous guardian but a transformed vampire calling himself Dracula. Formally called Vlad, a human noble with a very twisted path who ended up turning himself into a vampire for various reasons. I've been observing him for the entire time I took up occupancy in his fortress." There's a slight pause as she glances off to the right for several moments. There's a slight flash of light behind the camera on that side before she turns back.
"Dracula has openly admitted that his essence relies on fear. I would never betray my king if I supported one who finds his only reason for existing in creating and feeding on fear." Yup, Bridget's eyes are capable of softening like that only when her beloved king is involved. "It would be so much fun if my ultimate king showed up here! It's too bad he's better off dead. As it is, I believe we are equal in raw power and the very reason I have not gone against him fully just yet."

As for the crack that formed, that was hardly Ted's fault. He wasn't even in power when it formed. The cracked appear nearly a week before any of us took to office. There hadn't been any significant changes in the way Everglade ran when the crack formed. And from what I know, creatures have gotten inside without damage being done to the barrier.
As for housing, do you not have job?
Re: Audio/Private
[A long and irony filled pause.]
Which is why I ended up sticking around to observe and calculate his abilities and power. I'm willing to consider other causes to the crack but that foolish child will not. Perhaps it was a combination of several things but that can be considered at a later time. Dracula's nature is born from fear and he feeds off the same, but mine is a bit different. At the moment I've calculated our powers to be fairly equal and have thus not made any major moves against him.
[It's easy to realize that Everglade would never survive such a stalemate.]
I own a jewelry store and a... side hobby. If these gates settle down I might end up expanding. I haven't been paying rent for months. [A wry chuckle.] I'm not lacking in funds, I'm just lacking in the time to shop the market at a leisurely pace.
[There's a sudden and very long pause. When she returns her voice is far more firm than thoughtful.]
Actually, it seems there's a suspiciously convenient situation in Fayren with an anti-magic group. If you and Fai can handle the grass-fires in Everglade for a few days I think it might be a good idea for me to camp out with Fairy Tail.
Restoring a balance that is broken is a difficult task, indeed, especially when neither side seeks to find understanding or common ground. Trust has been breeched on both sides, and that will hardly help.
As for the cities...it seems less of an investigation into which is better, and more of a balance. Past balanced against future, mundane against supernatural. It is a curious thought, isn't it? A more pressing concern, to me, is what these barriers are protecting us from. We are only a bubble, after all.
I do have plenty of room in my house in Attleton, since both the other occupants have left. Feel free to come and have a look if you think it would suit.
Re: [Video, locked]
I certainly don't envy Fai but I'm willing to help him out for a few nights by spanking the over-inflated egos crossing the current boundaries. And... That's rather poetic, Vyers. Balancing bubbles of various vagrants? [That last was a distracted musing rather than a helpful idea.]
I may take you up on that in time. It seems there is an anti-magic movement turning dangerous in Fayren so I'm going to go take a look into it for a few days. I find the timing to be suspiciously convenient while Dracula is bathing so openly in his ego in Everglade. It's probably best if Dracula keeps on thinking of me as a mere woman with a bit of uncontrolled talent and a habit of sulking like a child.
Re: [Video, locked]
I fear he needs all the help he can get in this situation, although I get the feeling there is more to him than meets the eye.
Still~ Of course it was poetic, would you expect any less from moi?
Ah, yes...that could be a problem. The fact that both these groups are causing problems at the same time is either an irritating coincidence, or something larger is at foot. Believe me, allowing your enemy to think you a fool is a good strategy indeed.

{ He knows the type all too well. More than he'd like, actually. }
Even a rebuke by his new kin will do nothing to dissuade him. He may have lost his humanity, but not the all-too-human penchant for war, greed, and an insatiable thirst for more power. Unfortunately, there is only one thing to do with people like him.
Re: video / private
I'm afraid it is a first for me so I have him a slight chance to prove himself. But... hm.
[Something in his words make her pause thoughtfully as she recalls something.]
Perhaps, perhaps not. There is perhaps one way to bring up his past but I'm not sure if it would drive him towards compassion or further cruelty. Or potential insanity. It is something I have encountered before with a different man. But... Hm. I will have to consider the many repercussions at length.
If I might ask, are you familiar with the path of giving up humanity for power? I don't really care what you answer as long as it is true. It might assist attempts at preventing the young idiot from causing too much damage.

{ A sigh. Acnologia isn't a topic he enjoys talking about. Especially not with what is going on in their world, according to the Dream Docks. Her next question caused him to close his eyes, and look away from the camera. }
Personally? Not in the sense that you imply. I never chose to become immortal, or to have this curse. It chose me. If the world rejects me for it, so be it.
[Audio/Private]
I was not aware you were looking into this issue; I do have some information to share then. The cause of the crack was of a completely different individual. In fact, this would not be the first time the barrier cracked, there was one event that happened before even I arrived.
If my information is correct, it is the same individual. What is not clear, however, is how they did it. It is possible the ban may have granted them some sort of power but it is difficult to say at this time.
I do not know what to make of Vlad's outburst- Who would willingly live in a sub-city with the knowledge that its barrier is powered by fear?
Re: [Audio/Private]
[a long and tired sigh]
I would certainly appreciate any and all information you have no matter how related it may be. I'm going to be relocating to Fayren after tonight. They seem to be having a situation of their own and it will give Dracula a chance to consider me a petulant woman who runs away from fully committing myself into a potential battlefield.
[Audio/Private]
It is unfortunate but there is little use to dwelling on it now, for now it is best to investigate and prepare, which you appear to be doing at this very moment.
That said I am afraid that is the only information I can give, I attempted to trace the spirit that outed Vlad's earlier doings to Heartfilia and her partner with no success. However I do plan to perform further investigation now that I.. Have more time on my hands.
