[Open/Teleportation Event] Another Day In Chireiden
WHO: Satori and YOU
WHAT: Teleportation event
WHERE: Chireiden
WHEN: First day of the event
WARNINGS: Much grump, being stared at, bothersome raccoons
A calm wind blew between the great spires of the Palace of Earth Spirits this morning. Satori's veritable legion of pets - at least the ones that slept at night - awakened from their slumber each in their own way. The birds and other winged beasts raced around the building, either alone or in small flocks. Cats, both large and small, awoke from their languid rest, stretching and wandering off to hide in the warmer places of the mansion. Even the more unusual beasts, such as lizards and snakes began to move. Her home was rife with the noise of many animals at once, and it was music to her ears. If it wasn't so loud, at first.
Satori roused herself, finding her hair to be quite a mess this morning from an inquisitive kasha kitten trying to curl up between her head and the pillow. Still in her nightclothes, the drowsy youkai wandered out to find an outfit and freshen up, making sure she was well enough ready. A warm bath served to wake her from her grumpy morning blues, if only slightly.
While getting rid of most of her stress from last night, this had only made her a little more sleepy. And the pets could not be kept waiting for long, especially not for the lazy hour she'd spent in there. It's almost breakfast time, for her as well as the pets. And Koishi, too, if she was still around...and not wandering elsewhere.
As the diurnal animals roamed freely within the sumptuous home of Fayren's Guardian, a long line had formed near the kitchen. Satori, now dressed and fully relaxed, wordlessly let the small crowd of pets know that their meals, yes, were coming after all. She felt their collective excitement and frustration. And certainly it got a bit more annoying when Scribbles, that troublesome little racoon, tried to climb up her legs and outright BEG for sustenance with eyes as wide as saucers. She almost felt like feeding him, first. "...Just a little longer, all of you. I hadn't meant to keep you waiting."
The smell of a warm breakfast was in the air. Such a day was one of millions or more in the mind-reading youkai's lifetime. Peaceful, blissful days where absolutely nothing ill might come to pass. Satori had cooked enough for an army within the space of the next couple hours, especially since she had hundreds of other mouths to feed, all with varying diets of carnivore and herbivore. But even this wasn't a chore for her, simply the day-to-day business.
Satori knew very well the other side of the coin, of course. That peace, just like in Gensokyo, wasn't to last. Pushing the thoughts from her mind, the satori youkai knew all too well that this, too, was another one of those days.

The youkai motioned towards the kitchen with a free hand, laying down the meal for the waiting cat horde as they clustered around the bowl to get their share.
"I'm aware, Suna. Yes, yes, I promise." she adds to the small animal. "Now then, Triton, I was very serious about the offer of food. I plan to look into this...incident of sorts, soon enough. That is, once I find out exactly what's the matter with everything, these days." Satori beckoned, now that Luke was free of the pile of catting. "Come along and don't tarry..."
It had been a long time since she used the word 'incident' so casually in a place that wasn't Gensokyo. It was shaping up to be one of those, sure enough.
"As odd as it is to admit, you couldn't have fallen into better hands. I'd feel ashamed if someone landed admidst the Oni."

He turns to Satori, attention now on breakfast. "You needn't make food just for me, Miss Satori. I've already shown up uninvited." Still, he follows along--because there is nothing quite like the older youkai's cooking.
"A lot of people are talking about these odd teleportations. That's why I was starting in, but that's not done me very good." Luke chewed on his lip, deciding that if Satsuki wasn't going to be a guardian anymore he could still trust Satori to be doing the job well. He liked the idea.
"I'm glad I landed in with kittens because they're nice and friendly but...what's an Oni?"

Satori's kitchen was rife with the delicious smells of cooked meats and vegetables, along with a warm stew that smelled vaguely of mushrooms. She couldn't help but feel proud at Luke's unspoken esteem for her cooking... "I appreciate your kind thoughts, Triton. Though I'm not human, I appreciate a reminder that human kindness exists."
Satori quickly picked up a bowl, serving a decently sized portion of rice into the bowl and pouring a generous helping of the stew onto it, passing it to the boy. There were some kind of unusual fungi in it, yes, but nothing that looked too inedible. If Luke had seen her cooking before, of course, he'd know that this stuff was pretty safe, if a bit sour-tasting. "Actually, that gives me a thought...I'd appreciate if a clever human like you could assist me, a little. Eat your fill, and unsure you've your head on your shoulders, before I say much else about it."
Wow well I found this tag, hello tag I lost
Though it did still make him a bit uncomfortable when she read his thoughts. "Ah--right. Um, I sometimes forget. I mean, I don't really forget, not for long, but for a little while I forget that you know right away if you want to, and--" Bugger. "Um. I really ought to just say that your cooking is very nice more often, Miss Satori. Koishi brings some over a lot."
Settling at the table, he accepted the rice and stew with a grin. Even without his mental and verbal compliment, it would be clear now that the boy appreciated the youkai's cooking as he dug in.
"I don't think I'm nearly as clever as you are," he stated matter-of-factly between mouthfuls, at least remembering not to talk while chewing. "But I'd like to help you if I can!"
