[Action/Closed] Back to Basics
WHO: Koishi and Mewtwo and maybe Satori
WHAT: Re-visiting the Fayren death trap
WHERE: Fayren woods
WHEN: Feb 10th
WARNINGS: Not really.
Koishi was moving swiftly though the trees, holding her hat, tendrils pushing back the brush, following the faint claw marks she left on the trees left by her previous journey. Last time she had been unconscious, trusting her passive abilities to keep her safe. She didn't remember much beyond what she saw and a sickly sweet smell.
It was longer in coming than when she first went. She wasn't using any of her magic, moving swiftly between and through the trees instead. Her breathing became more even and controlled, finally holding it as she approached the clearing. Perching herself in one of the trees she didn't see the same field of flowers though. Shallow water. Death. The heavy smell of rotting wood and leaves clinging to her skin and clothes... She let out her breath.
Her right eye brightened significantly, projecting her power through the area with force enough to burn and boil minds and drive even fragments of consciousness from hiding. The bushes and trees rustled, birds and small animals shrieking and fleeing from the mental pressure. No doubt it would be even worse for Mewtwo, but she had to make sure nothing lingered. After all, she hadn't really invited him. He had insisted that he wanted to tag along and she hadn't objected to it. Truthfully she didn't really care either way...
Hopping down, she crossed the soft ground to the center of the clearing, crouching down at the water's edge, and staring down into it. She didn't disturb the bones resting at the bottom, just watching quietly. It was almost as if she forgot her traveling companion was there with her.

Mewtwo had been preparing for that sort of an attack. He'd erected all the barriers he could, but even they weren't enough to keep him from grabbing a nearby tree for support. The power difference was remarkable, but at the same time he fought down his urge to try and take such power.
"I assume this is the place then?" Once Koishi had sent everything scurrying, he strode out into the clearing, eyes scanning the area. "If I may, given the immunity some beings possess to such attacks, and the nature of this particular beast, I would like to add to that, if only for my own peace of mind."

She didn't move from her spot for several more moments before, letting out a breath, she straightened up, looking around. "Such a strange place. I've seen very few with this much death... And so eerily well preserved. There is something in these waters. Curious. It's something I've heard stories about but have never seen myself."
She drifted over the water to where there was a lapse in the bones, the water deeper, perhaps where the creature had been. She crossed her legs in the air, gathering her skirt in her lap, and floated there. She didn't close her eyes, but the glow dimmed to almost non-existent.

"I have no intention of using a psychic attack. You have demonstrated that any susceptible to that sort of attack no longer reside here."
As if to punctuate the thought, the skies began to cloud up and thunder could be heard rolling in the distance, even as the wind picked up slightly. "If there is anything left here, I will see to it that it is well and truly erased. Nothing will come of this place again."
no subject
"Come here. Take sometime and let your mind relax I don't want to focus on negativity right now..." A pause. "Please. This is important to me."

There is a beat where he simply looks at Koishi for a moment before jerking his arm upward, a perfect circle of light piercing the clouds over her head. When he speaks, it's not the normal even tone he's known for, but rather the tone is laced with frustration as he looks around, seeing only death around them.
"How can you be so calm!? This place needs to be erased, so that nothing like this will happen again!"
no subject
"Mewtwo. If there's one lesson you need to learn in this world its that power will not solve problems like this. You are brash and arrogant, but until you learn humility you will always be one step behind because you will never learn from error." She looked up at the sky, frowning deeply. "The creature here was a dumb, hungry beast. Not some malevolent force like the Hands of Decay. I cannot hold that against it. Turning up these graves wont change that."
"This has become a strange place. The death has created something here that I've seen but never been a part of. For obvious reasons. I wish to enjoy the stories this place has to tell for some time. It's important to me. So please clear the skies." She turned and began drifting back over the water.
"You're welcomed to meditate with me. But do not disturb the resting bones. I came here to find peace, not vengeance."

Mewtwo for his part was the very vision of calm cold calculating control. However, the ever darkening storm clouds gathering overhead was far more indicative of his mood. There was something inside him clawing to get out. Something that he had denied for so long. In truth, the pain this place had caused Koishi was only half of his reason for coming out here.
When his device flickered to life once more, his voice was eerily clear as the wind and all ambient noise had seemingly simply... stopped. "The dead tell no stories, Koishi. That thing disrupted the natural order of this place, and I will not allow another to take its place." He wasn't budging on this, and the lightning that began to flicker through the clouds overhead only reinforced that point.

"I wanted to avoid violence. But I need the peace of this place and I will fight you for it if I must, Mewtwo." Her power was seeping out into the air, the water, the ground. "I will not kill you but I will not hold back. I will hurt you. You don't have spellcards to duel me with."
She had not made any attacks that Mewtwo could see, but her presence was already dampening his powers and making it hard to think. Certainly similar to a dark type but with less intention. Rather than suppressing his ability, it felt like his power, mind, and emotions were slowly seeping into a hole.
"Fly up. We'll fight in the sky where objects have no power. You will lose. And then you will clear the clouds and leave this place unharmed."
no subject
He glares for a moment before his eyes begin to glow, a blue orb of pure energy surrounding him. "Very well. We will battle for the rights to this place's fate."
Once he was sure all his mental barriers were in place, he shot upward through the clouds, waiting above them for Koishi to join him in the sky.
no subject
"Next time, be sure to have some spellcards ready, okay? It's better to fight that way."
She didn't move, but the air around her seemed to shimmer, the little youkai fading a little, becoming difficult to pick out with both his mental and physical senses. He only had a mental sense of her location from how her aura seemed to draw in and obliterate the ambient psychic energy around her. Her blinded eye was staring right through him.
She blinked; empty sockets over a small smile. "Start whenever you like." Conceding the first move to him.

Mewtwo did not respond verbally, having left his device on the ground near the pond. After all, in a battle of this sort, words were unnecessary. The blue sphere intensified in brightness as he allowed his power to flow freely, and wasted no time in concentrating a ball of shadows between his hands before sending it flying out toward Koishi. He didn't know what was happening with her state of visibility, likening it to a Double Team attack. If that turned out to be the case, however, he was prepared.
