ACTION; at the dream docks
[ The first thing Weiss had done when she woke up, after just sitting for a moment, had been to check her phone. Mayu's text was the first thing that she saw about Torchwick, so that was an issue she had to address as soon as she could. A look back at what she'd missed made it clear that he was going after Ruby and Weiss wouldn't let that happen. She needed to go home and see everyone. Now. She needed to make sure that when she walked in, she'd still be able to see the faces of those they'd lost.

Then.. then she'd figure it out. Weiss didn't have the luxury of sitting home crying, not here. She had work to do. She had to find some way to fix this. Aaand she also needed to make sure that the City Guardian's office hadn't gone to shambles because she left it in the hands of her Deputies who had just met that day. She couldn't mourn. She'd have enough time to do that alone, at home, back in Atlas.

Here she just had to find the people she cared about and protect them. If that meant coming down on crime a hundred times harder than normal, then so be it. Weiss too a deep breath, not checking if Sun and Jaune were awake yet, and turned her device to post. ]

VOICE
This is Nova City Guardian Weiss Schnee speaking.

As of this moment, Roman Torchwick is considered a wanted fugitive. I'll offer level 5 payment as a bounty, direct from the City Guardian office. I would encourage other City Guardians to list him as a high-profile criminal as well. Torchwick's list of crimes includes murder, theft, kidnapping, torture, evading the law and that's just from his previous experience in Genessia. Back home he's done much, much worse.

If you do not have experience fighting, do not approach him. Keep in mind that to keep him alive, you'll need to break his aura but not go beyond that except to disable him. I don't care what state you bring him in provided that he's alive and secure. No one's getting paid for killing him because killing him still means he's free. Anyone found aiding, abetting, harboring, or hiding information about Roman Torchwick is considered a criminal and will be dealt with appropriately.

ACTION; Open to Remnant House / Anyone who wants to visit?
[ Once Weiss had left the Dream Docks, she went home to change clothes and check everyone's rooms. Chances were, those who didn't know what was going on would've just been going about their lives normally, maybe at work or off doing whatever errands, but she still just wanted to see if anyone was home. She wanted to see anyone. She wasn't even bothering with privacy, instead just peeking her heads into doors as she knocked. ]

[ Once she'd finished the broadcast, she'd sat there for a few moments. She'd almost forgot Jaune was there. When he spoke up, the last thing she remembered was him screaming into the phone to save Pyrrha.

That thing she and Ruby hadn't managed to do. That one request. ]

Jaune-

[ Her throat tightened up immediately. ]

Yes. Mayu texted me to let me know while we were asleep. There's a post from him calling out Ruby- I don't know if she's actually here or if he's just really upset.

[He lets autopilot take over as he stands up. He hadn't spoken with Weiss since then. No one had said anything about her, but had she even been okay?]

We'll have to stop him. If Ruby isn't here, I doubt he'll just let it go. We need to do this, before anyone gets hurt.

[There's an unspoken 'if they haven't been already'.]

I brought my weapon with me. Did you need to stop by-- at...at the house.

Even if Ruby is here, I doubt she's the only one he's going to hurt.

[ She looks at Jaune. ]

Last time I fought him, when I lost, it was because I was emotional. I'd just watched him kill Blake. We can't go after him today, not until we've calmed down a little.

Weiss...

[He tears his gaze away from her, his nails digging into the leather of his gloves. Something about her denial just...it makes him so angry. Nothing is right anymore, and he's trying to keep it together. Trying to find something to focus on, to blame. And Roman? He would be perfectly justified going after him, after everything he had done here.]

Please.

No! [ Weiss stands up straight, practically stomping her foot on the ground. ]

No. I'm not going to lose you too, not after we just got back to some place where they're alive.

[Weiss' foot-stomp is actually jarring enough to make Jaune jump. He wants to argue, to yell, to do anything. But he can't find it in him to bother. He's no longer looking at her at all, now focused on the floor.]

Then what do we do?

[ Don't mess with the heel, boy. ]

For one thing, you're not going to avoid Pyrrha.

[ She's not sure if he was planning on it, but she wouldn't be surprised. Jaune undoubtedly felt helpless, maybe blamed himself. With how desperate he sounded on the phone.. ]

I'm sorry Ruby and I weren't fast enough, Jaune.

[He'd hoped she wouldn't say her name.]

[Part of him knows Weiss is just trying to help. He wasn't the only person to lose someone, but hearing her say that just brings everything back. His voice catches and it takes all of his willpower to even try to not break down in front of her.]

No. It's not your fault. It's not--

[He was powerless. He's still powerless and he despises it. In a fit of anger, he kicks the chair he had been sitting in, screaming at no one in particular.]

I didn't stop her! I failed. My partner-- [Pyrrha.] all she ever does is help me, she's always been there for me, and I couldn't help her when... AUGGGH!

[His fragile attempt to stay focus finally breaks underneath him and he falls to the floor to sob.]

[ She's seen Jaune get angry before. She'd seen him yell. But this was different. This was raw pain. It made Weiss's own aching come more to the front, catching in her throat. She knelt down next to Jaune as he sobbed, reaching out to put her hand on his. ]

It's none of our faults, Jaune. It's Cinder's. She's the one who did this.

[ She tightens her hand over his slightly, then adds. ]

It's not your fault.

[Holding Weiss' hand helps. Even if nothing seems like it will ever be okay again, and there's a terrible empty feeling in his chest. It's a reminder that she's here and breathing. He doesn't believe her at all that it isn't his fault. He probably never will. But he knows she's right about Cinder. He doesn't try to speak until the tears begin to subside. His voice is dull, but he also sounds certain.]

She has to die. When we get back, we can't let her hurt anyone else.

[It was all they can do. He holds Weiss' hand in both of his, finally meeting her eyes.]

Please tell me you were safe.

[ Weiss holds his hand silently after her last words, just waiting for him to get through it. They're all in a lot of pain, even if they're different kinds. ]

I'm sure you'll do just that, Jaune.

[ She nods. ]

My father used the situation as an excuse to force me to return to Atlas. I was the only one of my team who didn't need to be in the hospital by the end of the day, but I don't think I'm going to be much use in finding Cinder. I wish I could.

Your father? [Something about the way she says it makes it seem like it's more than just a parent being overprotective after everything that went down. He frowns in concern and worry. He doesn't want to lose contact with Weiss, and the idea of her being isolated leaves him with a horrible, sinking feeling.] But Weiss, there's no guarantee that Atlas is going to be any safer. He can't just do that.

I know that. He probably knows that too and doesn't care. He didn't want me leaving Atlas in the first place.

[ She doesn't want to be alone. She's worried about her friends, but more than that, being completely alone again is a nightmare to her. ]

Why? You're the smartest person I've met.

[He knew Ruby was alone, and a vague idea of what had happened to the others. But now, they needed to be together more than ever. Not separated.]

Me and--we went to Patch because Ruby told us the enemy was in Haven. So we were going to go with her. I know it's a long way, but we'll find a way to get to Atlas, and get to you. Ruby won't stand for anything else.

Because he can't reach me here. I had to fight my way to even be able to apply, then I left against his word. After I was willing to admit to what he'd done, whether I love him or not, and that he was wrong I stopped taking his calls. When I couldn't pay for lunch at the tournament, that was because he closed my accounts. If Winter hadn't stopped by and talked to me I probably would've given in. The longer I am away from him, the more I can find out who I am without just being melded into the perfect daughter he wants at the expense of who I am and what I believe. All he needed was an excuse, Jaune.

[ She shakes her head. ] Thanks for the thought, but I'll find my own way out. It just.. won't likely be easy.

[As Weiss goes into detail, Jaune looks more horrified. Horrified for his friend, for what she'll have to go through without anyone to help her. He knows Weiss won't give up, but for her to be with someone so...cruel, at the risk of her wellbeing. He's worried for her, and pissed she even has to deal with that.] Your dad sounds like a jerk.

Easy doesn't look like it's going to be an option ever again. [At least not for a while.] I know you will. [He pauses, looking down, taking a shaky breath. The emotion is still there in his voice, but he's trying not to cry again.] I'm glad you made it out of there.

I'll manage. It's just.. going to be a very different experience this time.

[ Because she knows where she stands now. She knows Faunus aren't terrible people, she knows what kind of a person she is and it isn't her father's daughter. She's the kind of person who jumps into a fire dust pit to save a teammate at her own risk, the kind of person who uses her birthright as a Schnee to protect a Faunus because they're just as deserving as anyone else- they're just as good or bad as any human can be. ]

I've got a much better idea of who I want to be now. He can't take that from me.

[ Weiss nods. ] I'm glad you did too.

You're a good person, Weiss. [He's still holding her hand, so he gives it a quick squeeze.] There are a lot of people who care about you and who will be waiting for you.

[ She nods and gives Jaune a firm look, then stands up, still holding his hand and trying to tug him up with her. ]

I know. But for now I think the important thing is to show that we're still standing, that even if we fall we're going to get back up and they're not going to like it when we do.

[He stands up. Mostly because he doesn't want to tug Weiss down again when she's helping him.]

We will. We have to. We'll make them regret ever trying to begin with, even if they don't realize it now.

[ Once he's up, she lets go of his hand and gives him a nod of agreement. ]

I think we can both agree on that. Go get your things so we can get going.

Uh...yeah. I'll go do that.

[He grabs his stuff, hesitating at the entrance as he glances at Weiss.]

We have to go now, I guess.

You've been asleep for a week, Jaune. Go take a shower and try not to get overwhelmed. You can go ahead, I'm going to go see if Sun's up.

Are you sure? [He knows Weiss can handle herself, but he doesn't want to leave her alone when Sun might still be asleep and he's still paranoid from what he just saw. He doesn't want to leave anyone alone.]

Has Torchwick ever met you face-to-face?

[ She's pretty sure she knows what the answer is, which is what's making her confident that Jaune will be okay if he leaves here on his own. ]
