[ ozpin has collected all the information he needs to feel relatively comfortable finally introducing himself. he knows there are enemies here, and he knows there could be more enemies to come. he knows the majority of his students have experienced quite a lot of trauma in recent weeks, and he knows that he seems to be the only actual adult here to deal with any of it.
worst of all, most of this is his fault, and ozpin seems to be delightfully absent for most of it.
so, after dwelling on that for a moment, the feed turns on to show ozpin in a chair, in a corner of a bookstore that seems to be mostly empty. his cane is leaning against the table and while he still looks somewhat tired and worn down, his eyes are bright and he has a warm smile in place. ozpin has always been horrendous at playing the game, especially when such things are at stake. perhaps peace has made him lazy -- or perhaps he just genuinely believes that everything will be overcome.
at any rate, his students (and the others here) need him to be the leader that he proclaimed to be before everything went to utter hell, and so when he speaks, ozpin sounds like a conversationalist, calm and at the ready. ]
Hello.
[ it's almost like today is a normal day, with yet another inspirational monologue from professor ozpin. ]
It seems that quite the collective of my students have taken root in this city, and transformed it into their own. [ weiss. ] I wish I could say that I could bring half of what they have to this place, but I'd rather not disappoint you all.
[ probably too late for that. ]
But as for introductions -- my name is Ozpin. I am the Headmaster of Beacon Academy, for those from Remnant who may not recognize me. [ which should be no one, but you can never be too sure. ] I've already spoken with several of my students, and it seems that our world has become rather popular in terms of new arrivals... but to the students I haven't yet had the opportunity to see, and the students that I don't have the pleasure of calling my own... I would very much like to speak with you. Privately.
[ the slightest hint of his teacher voice, but it's gone in an instant, and ozpin returns to his faint smile. he's not going to waste time concerning himself with roman torchwick or emerald or anyone else who happens to show up. they will come find him if they wish to speak more. ]
As for the rest of you, if you would indulge me with suggestions on where to locate a decent cup of coffee, I would be forever in your debt. In addition, I would also like to hear some of the positives of this place -- what do you like to do? What are your hobbies? Your work? You would be surprised how effective positivity can be in curing most problems.
{ ozpin inclines his head toward his cane (and the untouched cup), with a slightly knowing look. ]

I've had something of a rough week.
[action] it's ok james he still loves you even if you're adopted
I have an idea.
[ quietly ]
But I am not sure, and I would rather not incite worry with baseless accusations. But if I am correct, I may not return for quite some time.
[ salem. her. the being they've all been fighting against. the one who wants to watch ozpin burn. ]
[action] yaaaaaaay ;u;
Still, he's internally uneasy with not knowing who they should be preparing to go after to get Ozpin back. ]
I understand. If it turns out you are wrong, and any of us [
*cough*QROW*cough*] go after the wrong target, it would alert the one truly holding you of any rescue attempts.[ And that might tempt his captor into just killing him. Which no one wants. Ozpin's simply too important to lose. ]
My only hope is that you won't be gone for much longer.
[action]
[ he caught that pause, friend, and ozpin doesn't really look satisfied with the knowledge that his birb friend is hunting for him, but he also doens't look surprised. ]
I doubt I am in danger of being killed anytime soon, if I am correct. [ which doesn't bode well for him, ozpin knows, but he's tougher than he looks ] I will come home.
[ or so glynda insists. angrily. ]
[action]
[ Even after returning to Atlas, he's been trying to stay in touch, given the situation.
See Qrow? He knows where the goddamn send button is. 8TSometimes slipping in a question if anyone's heard anything about his buddy's whereabouts. But so far, nothing. It's been a month, maybe two. Time melts together when fighting what feels like an endless stream of Grimm while trying to supplement his army so his non-automated soldiers can get some rest. ]Though for your sake, and the world's, I hope you do. The world still needs you, Oz.
[ So you better come home!!!!!!
Or else Jimmy's gonna be one sad half-robot. 8(][action]
he just doesn't want his friends to sacrifice himself in that process. ]
You overvalue my importance, James.
[ chiding, mildly, but he still looks happy enough. ]
The world will keep turning, as it always has, with or without me. But I will make every effort to ensure that my life and the world turning coincide for as long as possible.
[action]
[ Ozpin's much more honest smile gets him to relax a little more. For the first time since arriving in Genessia, a slight smile twitches, quirking up his lips on one side, accompanied by a laugh disguised as a cough. How long that tiny grin lasts is yet to be determined. ]
Still, I'll hold you to doing your best on staying alive. For now, I believe you were saying something about coffee? Have half your students already led you to find the best brews in town?
[ You could use a subject change to something cheerier, right friend? Ironwood's pretty sure he's gotten as much out of Oz as he can for one chat over what happened.
...Though hot coffee does sound good, especially if he can spike it. ]
[action]
[ in barest amusement, eyes bright. while ozpin would rather no one be trapped at all, he's selfishly glad so many of his students are here. the world feels much more normal with a bunch of kids bickering at each other and feigning a quick hello, sir in the hopes he didn't notice. ]
According to them -- and their friends -- the Cat's Eye is where you must go to get both good coffee and cake.
[ both are very important.
obviously. ]
[action]
[ IT'S A SORT-OF JOKE. LOOK. IRONWOOD HAS A MILD SENSE OF HUMOR. THE UNICORN HAS REARED ITS HEAD. ]
Then what do you say we check it out? With so many good reviews, I could use something to recharge a little.
[action]
[ mildly, and ozpin collects up his cane and gets to his feet, sighing to himself. he's exhausted, but feeling much better than he did when he first got here. some quiet rest and food does a body good. ]
I could stand to walk, at the very least. I would be happy to join you.
