[Otherwise he's going to resort to going out patrolling again. At night, For the fifth night in a row. With no villainous ghosts to fight its getting really old.]

[He nods.]

Sounds good, kid. I'll meet you there.

[When he gets there, he'll find Danny pacing nervously around the park. ]

[Ronan's gait suggests he never walks anywhere in a hurry. Less of a slow walk and more of a confident swagger, as he puffs on a cigarette in his approach. He adjusts the fedora on his head as he comes closer.]

Hey, kid. Calm down, will ya?

[Danny stops pacing, but still shifts nervously. ]

[He tilts his head to the side curiously at this kid.]

Yeah. It wasn't hard. [His tone is more gentle now, though. Clearly whatever it is really bothers the kid.] So, what's on your mind?

[He flinches nervously. ]

Well, I've thought about this. And I just can't think of a non-awkward and/or disturbing way to say it.

Are you sure you're alive? I mean, have you ever changed back to being a ghost here?

[Ronan tilts his head to the side, clearly confused.]

No. No, I haven't. [What even...] Why...?

[Danny shrugs restlessly. ]

Just... something about the way you were talking reminded me of something. I had to ask.

[He'd had to wonder if this meant there was another halfa here. ]

[Ronan watches him for a moment, crossing his arms.]

Yeah? You don't have to beat around the bush, kid. Spit it out.

[He opens and closes his mouth a few times as he tries to figure out how to say it. He'd never just come out and told anyone what he was, and he wasn't entirely sure how to start.

Normally he wouldn't even consider this. But the truth was.... it was humans that Danny had to keep his secrets from. All the ghosts back home knew.

And how wrong was it that in this one particular way, he would trust a ghost (or someone who had been dead) more than he could ever trust a living human.]

I'm a ghost. Well, technically I'm only half a ghost.

[Ronan's brow dropped in confusion. In all honesty, he's heard stranger things, but still...]

How are you half a ghost?

Honestly? [He shrugs.] I don't really know. There was an accident, and I think I kind of got stuck somewhere in between? I'm a living human, and I'm a ghost.

...holy shit... [He's not going to put it past the cosmos to do something like that but...he's just a kid...] ...and you're...like that here, too?

Well, yeah. I've been like this since I was 14. Coming here didn't change anything.

Which was why I wanted to ask when you said that it did for you. I mean, I don't usually tell people what I am. [He shrugs.] My parents are ghosthunters, so... You know, not really a good thing to spread around back home.

[whatsbackup]

Ghosthunters. [That's a thing. That's an actual thing where this kid come from.] So, ghosts are bad where you're from?

...We need a publicist.

[Danny rolls his eyes. ]

Not all ghosts are bad. Some of them just want to be left alone, and some of them are good friends. But the ones most people see are the ones who attack the human world. Probably doesn't help that all the ghost experts are running around telling everyone that all ghosts are evil manifestations of ectoplasmic energy and post-human consciousness out to to make humans lives miserable because its what we do, apparently.

I'm pretty sure none of those experts have ever even talked to a ghost.

Speaking from experience, some of the are just bored, and some of them were pretty messed up people before they knocked off.

[He shakes his head.]

I know ghosts are just people, kid. I was one too, remember?

[He rubs the back of his head. ]

Um, sorry? I guess explaining is kind of a habit. Not that anyone has ever listened, but, you know. I keep hoping.

[Ronan reaches out and puts a hand on Danny's shoulder.]

[Danny offers a crooked grin.]

[He smirks and flickers out of sight. A few seconds later he reappears. ]

[Ronan looks suitably impressed.]

Not bad, kid. [Sometimes, he misses being dead.]

Can you touch stuff like that?

Yeah, usually. Intangibility is a separate power for me.
