It's a happy kidnapping time (OPEN)
Who: Adachi, the victims & the rescuers
Where: Different Cities, TV World Subarchway in Attleton
When: 22nd - 29th
What: A log for the player plot.
Warnings: It may get a little violent, has blood and other stuff. Be careful. Also Shadow issues and other things included.
LINKS
Finding Luke | Kidnappings | Dungeon Rescue | Catching Adachi | OOC Team Forming.
How this works:
1) There will be a section for all kidnapped persons so we can play out the actual kidnapping progress if so desired (it can also be hand waved). I would love it if you could come up with a starter tag about what they're doing/where they are, but I can also work on the starter if necessary.
There will be two kidnappings per day on 23rd, 25th & 27th. Please choose a date to your liking and be aware of what others have chosen.
2) Every kidnapped person will form their own floor on the dungeon. The floor will reflect their heart's context and look something that reflects the part that they keep hidden from even themselves. At the end of the floor there is a room that where the kidnapped character is with a possible boss fight against the kidnapped person' shadow.
NOTE: I will confirm later if characters will be able to have their Personas, but one will appear for them, as a sign of facing their other selves. The other self has to be faced in order for this to happen, however.
3) Each dungeon floor will be limited to only four rescuers, because Adachi has his powers and can order the rules of the dungeons as he pleases.
4) Characters with special abilities are more than likely to get attacked by shadows. Characters without might have it safer.
Shadows.
5) Kidnapped character's mun gets to decide if the rescue team is successful or if they would want the attempt to fail. This would mean either a) death and bizarre body discovery in Attleton or b) near death and bizarre discovery in Attleton.
The wounds will, unlike in canon, be visible, as seen from Luke's discovery. The TV World here and in canon work slightly different ways, after all.
6) The time given to attempt a rescue of each character is three days.
In summary:
Until 25th; Yukiko can be found from the dungeon floors (she lasts a little longer because of Persona)
From 23rd to 25th; first two victims (Adela, Blaze) will have their dungeon floors
From 25th to 27th; next two victims (Conan, Quinn) will have their dungeon floors
From 27th to 29th; last two victims (Airy, Anna) will have their dungeon floors.
Last date for victims to get kidnapped: 27th
Last date for all the victims to be rescued: 29th
Adachi can be caught starting from 27th, after his last kidnapping. There will be a thread for that, too.

His companions various means of dealing with it were interesting, for one. He didn't figure Dairine to just ditch them, and luckily he was familiar enough with magical invisibility to know that she wasn't suddenly spirited away. He had to give props for Noir's pole vaulting. The Shadow's vision was based entirely on movement, and that in a narrow cone in front of them, so they'd probably all have gone their separate ways had it not been for Kaito's steadfast pose.
The creatures were, as might be expected, 100% aggressive. The beetle reared back, as though it were going to charge like the bull it resembled. A red light encircled its form as it gathered strength. The book also took notice, twirling lightly in the air. A twinkle on its spine flashed as a mystic orb crystallized in front of its insect partner for an instant, before disappearing. This would deflect one magical attack back at the user.
Ted didn't like staying his hand when it came to monster slaying, and especially not when there's even a chance his teammate is in trouble. Like Han Solo, he resolved to make the first move. Seeing the larger creature as the more imposing threat, he rushed upon it with his frost-brand, delivering a few jabs to its underbelly.

[Dairine's voice calls out, the source still unseen. Perhaps it might defeat the purpose of the spell, but she doesn't mind. At least her group will know she's still around.
Besides, there are some formalities that require her voice. She shouts out, this time in the Wizard's Speech. The others in the group will likely notice, as it will sound like their own native language, just with rich undertones.]
HEY, you two!! I am on errantry, so be aware any actions you take against me will reflect directly upon the Powers that Be! Be warned by me and desist!
[It doesn't seem to have changed the creatures' minds, but at least that's out of the way. Dairine mentally swears as the two start to power up. So they have some kind of magic. As if the giant bug monster wasn't bad enough.]
[She shifts her position a little, watching for an opening. Since Ted is engaging the book, Dairine decides to engage the beetle. With a wave of her hand, a bolt of electricity shoots towards it... only to bounce right back the way it came. Luckily Dairine came in prepared with a shield spell, the thing she had been poking at earlier. Bracing herself, she hopes that it'll hold. And hold it does, the energy splaying out in a dome shape. Guess where the invisible wizard is? That's right: in the center of it.]

Straight ahead, a little to the right. I think that's the next room.

Not that he wouldn't resort to physical violence when required - he had done it to protect Jodi Hopper after all - and he knew when such steps were required. Like now. If he wanted to get to the bottom of whatever was going on and find Tantei-kun (and the idea that the tiny detective could owe him a favor was totally not floating around in the back of his mind, nope) then he knew things might get dicey.
He doesn't question the actions of the others (although he might have to have a talk with Dairine later - he knew she was more then she seemed, but he would have liked to have have had a better idea of her abilities then the random things he had seen at the apartment), but his finger tightened on the trigger of his gun, shooting out the razor sharp card at the monsters. He doesn't dare spare the moment to glance at the others, but he gestures with a hand.
"GO. We'll keep them occupied for a second or so and then follow."

He found Mr. Noir's agility commendable, sparing a glance at the gymnastics which led to the book's demise under a bookshelf. Stylish and ironic.
But all this was arrested as the beetle asserted itself, horn-first, towards his person. Doubly arresting was how he managed to catch it in his arms, struggling with it like a sumo wrestler. Ted got his wish, as the suit's strength got its workout. He felt like his arms would tear off. Luckily, the Kaito cards struck true, felling the shadow. Ted fell forward as the beast dissipated, weight gone in a flash.
He picked up his sword, huffing and puffing. "Good eye. Let's away." With all that noise, he figured it was only a matter of time before some more shadows converged on their position. He prayed Gengar had found their mark.

For once she actually listens to a command, possibly because she remembers what happened last time she got off-sync with Kaitou Kid. Also since their party already outnumber their opponents. Dairine is already on the move when she drops her invisibly spell, mostly so she can save energy for whatever comes next. Hopefully Conan will in fact be in the next room, and they won't have to fight more battles to get to him.

But there was no time for that. Ladybug would have pressed onwards and frankly, Cat should too. He grasped the doorknob, hastily opening it and putting himself in front in case of any sudden attacks. ]

"Let's. The quicker this is over, the happier I'll be." Especially once he has a conversation with a certain detective about self preservation and the skills he needed to learn.

Kaito's happiness would be in a precious state, for they had a few hallways and more shadows to get through. While not, perhaps, the most coordinated group, they succeeded largely by vanquishing the shadows so fast that there was no room for reprisal. In one such hallway, Ted broke pace as he saw a familiar white grin on a purple backdrop: Gengar. Apparently he'd found the one they sent, and motioned to lead the group to their target. Just their luck that even more shadows went that way, through narrower and narrower bookshelves with fewer means to bypass confrontation. Most of them wore those curious masks with 'IV' engraved, as well as crowns. Ted remembered a certain game he played, and the position of The Emperor within it.
Gengar, feeling ill-used doing mere recon, silently joined the group and offered his own ethereal expertise to their party. He led them to an ominous door, surrounded by a singular shelf of Sherlock Holmes novels. This is it: the room of their captive.
Imagine Ted's surprise to find not one, but two people. Judging by the group's description, the first was Conan. Eureka! The second was a mystery. He looked evil with his ebony armor and ivory gloves. But people are always telling Ted to slow down, so he'd extend the benefit of the doubt. "Thank goodness we've found you at last! And another victim as well; a windfall day! Is there time for introductions or shall we escort the two of you off the grounds?"

"Do you mind?" Conan says irritably. "I'm in the middle of something right now."
The older boy's expression quickly darkens. "Get out. You aren't wanted here."
Conan turns and snaps at him with equal irritation. "Would you quit it? Staying alone doesn't solve anything, and I don't understand why you keep insisting it does. You can't stop people from dying or committing murders, and none of this will do anything about it. You are not me."
no subject
"Conan, come on! It's been long enough!"
When she notices the other figure though, her expression quickly goes from shocked to nervous to her usual poker face. Dairine knows exactly who that is, or rather who it looks like. But since Conan is there, it can't really be him, right? Something must be up.
She shoots a quick glance over at Kaito Kid, privately wishing she hadn't invited more people now. As helpful as they've been in a fight, Conan's identity is a carefully kept secret.
Which is why Dairine tenses up even more at Conan's last sentence. 'He's usually so tight-lipped about this. Why would he even hint that there might be a relation between him and Shinichi around other people?' Something is very wrong. Frowning, she doesn't bother adding anything in case she might make it worse. Dairine's not getting her hopes up though.

The lady's right. It's time to ditch this joint.

"Tantei-kun." A beat. Because what the hell--? He met Dairine's look, knowing she was probably just as a confused if not even more so then he was. "Meitantei."
Something wasn't right here, he knew it. His kaitou instincts were going haywire and the hair was standing up on the back of his neck. Perhaps if he kept the other distracted, they could figure out just what the heck was happening. And try to keep the brat's cover too.
"I hadn't realized you had arrived here, Meitantei."
no subject
"Yes, as a matter of fact, I do mind, you ingracious tyke. We've risked our lives for yours, so unless this is a particularly important tete a tete, it'll have to wait while we avaunt. Pray don't make our efforts in vain, else I'll find a more compelling means of rescue."
no subject
But he refused to lose face in front of this thing that was pretending to be him. That had the face and age he so desperately wanted to return to, but none of the opinions and ethics that went with it. This Shinichi would rather lock himself away from the world than go out to solve cases. This Shinichi thought that the world could be perfect if he could only control anything. This Shinichi wanted to pretend that none of the blood and murder and crime outside happened as long as he could stay in his perfect area.
Conan refused to see anything of himself in this.
The Shinichi that wasn't glowers darkly as all of the visitors refuse to leave.
"Out", he says. "Conan will be staying here until he understands."
Conan snaps his attention back to the doppelganger. "I refuse to understand any of this! How can you think any of this?"
The not-Shinichi tilts his head. "So, it is like that, is it? A pity."
He makes a gesture at the shadows hanging between shelves and under books, calling them out into new forms.
"I had hoped to avoid this, but I suppose I should have expected you to be stubborn. Your may entertain themselves with these. As for you."
Pulling a gun out of the shadows, he aims it at Conan.
"It isn't like this means anything. There will still be a Kudo Shinichi in this world. Perhaps I'll even do a better job than the last one."
no subject
That will have to wait for later though, since it seems this "Shinichi" really is bad news. Go figure. Things can never be easy, can they?
As soon as she spots the gun, Dairine acts fast. Letting go of her laptop, the Wiztech suddenly vanishes in midair with a POP, reappearing a foot in front of the "younger" detective. The laptop (better known as Spot to Dair) is now standing on the ground with thin mental legs, its screen glowing a faint blue. Although it might be difficult to tell, Spot is maintaining a new invisible shield spell, this time in front of Conan. Hopefully she'll be able to keep both going long enough to get out of this mess.
The spell takes bare seconds to set up. Now she can focus on their opponents. Zeroing in on one shadow in particular, Dairine cracks her knuckles.
"Guess we'll have to do this the hard way."
And with that, she unleashes a wizardry upon the nearest shadow, this one designed to disintegrate the bonds between molecules in a being. Good luck surviving that, buddy.

I take it we can't talk this out.

KID took a step forward, his gun still in his hand, but resting at his side. He didn't like the idea of drawing it on the detective, but hey, Meitantei had shot at him before, right? Everything was fair in Phantom Thieves and Critics.
But this wasn't Shinichi, was it? The shadows were testament to that. Kaito might not be as familiar with Kudo before his backward growth spurt, but he had clashed enough with Conan to understand him, at least on a basic level.
Keeping one eye trained on the shadows, raising his gun towards them with his finger on the trigger in case they get too close, he keeps another on the tableau in front of them. He knows his cohorts are already moving, so he'll do what he does best - distractions. Talking should be right up Shinichi Kudo's alley, shouldn't it? "What is he supposed to understand?"
no subject
Gengar, needing no instruction, got to work battling the other shadows, for whom he felt personally. Shadows were his thing, and he resolved to make them know it with a flurry of poltergeist pugilism.
no subject
For a moment, two moments, there is no sign of him.
Then more creatures leap out of the shadows, targeting Dairine, Chat and Ted. Kid is ignored for now.
And as soon as the rest are distracted, shadow Shinichi reforms out of the shadows inside Dairine's shield and strikes at Conan. The shadows smash into him, sending him tumbling across the floor until he slams into a bookcase.
no subject
The Shadows vanish, and she slowly takes a step towards Conan. Slowly, since Dairine is pretty sure the fight wouldn't be that quick. Not unless Ted's gun has some kind of super mystical properties that he hasn't mentioned yet.
Her suspicion proves valid as more Shadows come raging towards her. She blasts them as quickly as she can, but some take more than one hit.
Then her insides suddenly twist as her connection to Spot tells her something is wrong. She glances back just in time to catch sight of the false Shinichi appearing within the shield (impossible, surely she had included enough variables to keep him out?!? was the nature of this place messing with her spells?) and slamming into the younger detective. The resulting impact against the shield nearly knocks the wind out of her even from across the room.
Spot goes skidding across the floor with Conan, but gets back up onto its feet. Glowing a bright angry blue over the attack, Spot sends a volley of electrical shocks at the shadow Self. Whether the anger is from Spot itself or Dairine is up to debate.
Staggering to one side for a second, Dairine is also quick to recover as fear for her friend floods her mind. She tosses two Pokeballs, releasing Flareon and Sylveon to even out the odds a bit. There's no time to waste on these small fry, yet they're getting more resilient! "KID!!" she yells impatiently as she slams another spell into the nearest shadow. She's a little busy here, please checking on your rival?
no subject
All magic has a built in weakness, right? Someone point out his and I can get rid of it!
[ He can't waste his Cataclysm attack on the weak fry. It'll leave him defenseless. But if the others could give him the right opening, he could knock the Shadow out of the park for good. ]
no subject
Without a second thought, he pitches his voice into something familiar to the detectives, something feminine, making it sound like it was coming from another part of the room, "Mou, SHINICHI! What are you doing to Conan-kun?" as he placed himself in front of Conan, gun raised and poised to shoot if the other started towards Conan.
no subject
Much less easy, in fact. There was so much going on at once. He'd never had to coordinate rescue efforts with three others in the middle of a battlefield so multitudinous. For now he fended off an especially bulky shadow: a masked castle with little portholes, out of which shot deceptively deadly cannons. For monsters so vicious, they made themselves out so comically, like an evil clown. Bizarre!
So Cat Noir has the coup de grace in him, does he? Sadly he doesn't know much about magic, save for the things the fairy tails taught; that is, every spell can be broken, under the right conditions. As for what those were, well, one could always ask the soulless ginger for consultation. "If I get the villain, I'll hold him steady!" Trying to put the wicked doppleganger in a headlock was a tad vulgar, but whatever it took. In between the swashbuckling fare, Ted called out to his own pokemon. "Gengar! Enough with the mob! Drag what's-his-name out into the open!"
Gengar was reluctantly obedient, ending his scuffle with the lesser shadows and seeking to nab the head honcho. With his incorporeal nature, he might stand a chance at pulling him away from Conan.
no subject
Conan feels the urge to kick something at him.
The false Shinichi, on the other hand, simply raises an eyebrow and summons another wave of shadows, this time sending them straight at Kid (and Conan behind him). And another wave straight at Spot. Those sparks were getting annoying.
Occupied with his current tasks, the shadow pays no attention to the others behind him.
