1st Duel [Video]

There's a shot of the sky before the view reorients itself. Then, suddenly, there's a tanned face staring at the screen, looking surprised and annoyed all at the same time. What's strange however, is that the hairstyle looks eerily familiar, except for wild and said figure is decked out on an outfit probably more suited for a desert than his current environment. Not to mention... is that gold?

Surprisingly, though, he doesn't seem to be that out of place using the device. Probably from all that exposure to technology thanks to Yugi and the others.]

I'm fairly certain that this is not where I was supposed to be.

[ Because last he remembered, he was in Egypt, Ancient Egypt. Not... here, wherever here is.

Not to mention, if he wasn't trapped in the world of memories any longer, shouldn't- ]

And if anyone could tell me where Yugi Mutou is, it would be greatly appreciated.

Chespin just appeared one day and I thought why not. Seemed like fun and it was very much like a game.

[The best reason really.]

[ It's affectionate. It's nice to see some things never change. ]

[He laughed slightly. It was very much true and he just accepted he loved games a lot. It's why if anyone wanted to learn, he was more than willing to teach and spread a like of a game.

Except dancing games. He was probably not very good at those.]

No, I never am. Just like you. Maybe we should keep tabs on how many games we win just to see who wins more.

[ But dancing games didn't look hard! He had watched Anzu play one after all. ]

Fresh start or are we counting all the ones we played back home as well?

[ He already knows the outcome of one of their games, but he's not about to tell Yugi that yet. ]

[He paused for a moment, fresh start would be best since he was sure he was behind back home. Way behind.]

I think fresh would be best. I would be too behind if we counted everything back home.

You're much a better gamer then you think, Aibou.

[ There's a pause, then he glances down at his partner, respect both in his voice and in his eyes. ]

Definitely a much better Duelist.

[ Because Yugi never would have given in to the seal. ]

[He looked over for a brief moment.]

I don't think so, at least not yet anyway.

[At least in his mind anyway, he thinks there is still much he needs to learn.]

Someday who knows though.

One day, Aibou, you'll surpass me.

[ He knows it. Seto all but confirmed it for him after all. But he won't tell Yugi that.

Atem has already decided that he's going to make the most of this - of a second life where he doesn't have to rely on Yugi in order to interact with the outside world. A second life with Yugi and the others.]

[Kaiba told him also and he accepted it, but actually fully believing it was another thing all together. He figured he still had a ways to go at least.

Moving into his pockets, he went to get out the key to the apartment when they finally reached the building.]

Well this is the apartment complex which I live at.

[ Atem knows that from where Yugi is now, there is a little bit left. But as far as Atem is concerned, Yugi showed his strength during the situation with Dartz and especially the Pharaoh's own with Raphael.

Yugi has come much farther then he realizes. ]

Ah, yes... I did see something about housing and jobs.

[he nodded slightly. He'll try and believe in himself a little more, so long as nothing too bad happens at least.]

Yeah, since what we get only lasts so long it's something they suggest we do.

[Walking up to his apartment, he placed the key in the lock, opening the door and stepping in, only to see his pokemon come toward him excited. Except one who lingers in the back as Yugi just smiles.]

Chespin and I are home. I also brought a new friend home. [The other Chespin and Chimecho were the first to go over and simply investigate the other, with Chimecho floating a little too close as Yugi sighed.]

Chimecho...

[ Atem steps into the apartment, glancing around at his surroundings before his attention focuses on the Pokemon in front of him. He blinks at them for a moment, taking a small step back as the one gets to close. ].

Uh... Hi?

[ The once great Pharaoh, ladies and gentlemen, so eloquent. ]

[Yugi went to moved her away slightly. To close little pokemon, too close before looking over.]

The other two must be in another room.

[When he had gone to move, Chimecho was back to being a little too close for a moment before going back to Yugi to wrap herself loosely around Yugi's neck. She liked staying there sometimes since she could.]

The place isn't huge, as you can tell and it isn't over the game shop like my old place, but it does the job.

I suppose it would probably cost a lot in order to build something like Jii-chan's.

[ He gives his partner a smile. ]

The size doesn't matter, Aibou. I spent how many years in the puzzle, after all.

[ Which is weird because he's not actually stuck in it anymore. ]

When I first opened the game shop...It didn't cost much, which was surprising.

[He smiled slightly. It doesn't matter, but the pokemon seem to do better with more space considering the numbers.]

True, but still I probably will consider moving to something bigger just so the pokemon have more room to move and with Jounouchi jr, to train.

[Yes, he named a pokemon after his friend.]

You named him after Jounouchi?

[ Oh, don't tell Kaiba that, Aibou. ]

Yeah, I won't go into why though.

[Because that is not a long story, but still.]

Ah... I had thought it was either because you missed him or the little one did something to remind you of him.

[Yugi laughed slightly.]

I meet my pokemon friend when he was getting beaten up by two pokemon so I stepped in, beat the two and took him to get help. We became friends after that.

I see, so how you became friends with Jounouchi and Honda. That makes sense.

[It did? he had kind of forgotten how, for reasons. Never the less he makes his way to put a few things down that he had been carrying before.]

I guess I should sort something out for a place for you.

I suppose. It's strange, normally I would just retreat to the puzzle, but that's not an option anymore.

[ He's still getting used to this living and being his own person. It's weird not having a Yugi filter. ]

No it's not.

[It was rather strange for him as well, but he actually liked it like this.]

But hey it means you can do whatever you want without me having to do it.

[ Atem is looking down at his hands as Yugi speaks, marveling at the fact that they are solid and real and not see-through anymore. It's a strange feeling, if he pressed a hand to chest, he would have a heart that would be beating and lungs pulling in and expelling air and it's so strange when it's his own body and not Yugi's.

He tilts his head back up at the other with a bit of a smirk. ]

I do hope that means you aren't trying to get rid of me already, Aibou.

You know me well enough to know that wouldn't be the case.

[He knows he is probably saying that jokingly. At least he really hoped that was the case.]

I never get rid of a friend.
