1st Duel [Video]

There's a shot of the sky before the view reorients itself. Then, suddenly, there's a tanned face staring at the screen, looking surprised and annoyed all at the same time. What's strange however, is that the hairstyle looks eerily familiar, except for wild and said figure is decked out on an outfit probably more suited for a desert than his current environment. Not to mention... is that gold?

Surprisingly, though, he doesn't seem to be that out of place using the device. Probably from all that exposure to technology thanks to Yugi and the others.]

I'm fairly certain that this is not where I was supposed to be.

[ Because last he remembered, he was in Egypt, Ancient Egypt. Not... here, wherever here is.

Not to mention, if he wasn't trapped in the world of memories any longer, shouldn't- ]

And if anyone could tell me where Yugi Mutou is, it would be greatly appreciated.

there's really just stunned silence, as he replays the video about sixteen times (much like with kisara, to ensure that it's actually real), and there's actually something of a sinking feeling, when he registers that atem looks different. not sharing a body with yuugi, certainly -- dressed like the pharaoh of ancient egypt, like he used to be (or should be?). is this another version that doesn't remember everything, like yuugi, or does he know who he is?

but the sinking feeling quickly vanishes with a rush of relief when atem asks for yuugi, because finally. something has gone right. and while seto still has a massive backlog of emotion (atem is gone, he passed on, he didn't get the opportunity to really say anything, there was no closure, he didn't say anything), it's hard not to feel some level of... contentment.

this is fine. atem is here, and seto has someone who can actually understand why seto is so absolutely beyond frustrated with the current state of affairs in genessia, and atem knows who kisara is, and why that is problematic, and --

does atem even know his own name.

[ when seto finally connects the feed, he looks some odd mixture between relieved (though only a little) and grossly unimpressed.

so, really, the same expression seto always has when he sees atem. ]

I need to talk to you, about Yuugi.

[ and seto pauses, because he should probably tell atem where he is, or say hello, or ask if he's alright, or something... something casual, or friendly, or -- ]

[ If Atem looks surprised when he sees Seto pop up, he doesn't show it. Any of the craziness of their lives, he usually either gets pulled into or butts in on, so it was only natural that his would be the first face Atem saw (except for Yugi. Where was his Aibou?).

Instead, his look is flat, his eyes narrowing as the other speaks. ]

About-? [ Atem voice cuts off, because he knows that that's never good, especially if it's Seto delivering the news. ] What happened to him?! [ Way to go, Seto, get him all paranoid that something terrible happened to his Aibou.

The second comment gets a small 'heh' out him, a mere scoff. Worried about Yugi, he is, yes, but it's reassuring to see that some things hadn't changed. ]

You really shouldn't be one to talk, Kaiba.

[ Because seriously? That coat? The flare is for dramatics, clearly. ]

[It seems like a lot of people who know Yugi have been arriving and for some reason it makes Terra nervous.]

Is there any questions you have about this place?

[She assumes this is one of Yugi's friends so she wants to help. Yugi's always been very nice to her.]

[ Because seriously, Yugi NOT making friends will be the day hell has frozen over and Seto Kaiba will admit that he has friends.

And don't worry, Terra. If you're important to Yugi, then you'll become important to him as well. ]

I suppose I will, in time. For right now, however, I'd rather find out if any of my other friends are here as well.

[Terra's expression brightens and her cheeks tint a light rosy pink.]

He's one of my best friends. He's been teaching me how to play games. [Among other things. There are parts of their relationship that confuse Terra and she's yet to tell anyone about it specifically.]

I know a few others who said they knew Yugi arrived recently...Ryou is one.

[Dante had been buying cards from Yugi for a while now and though the interaction had been largely... well that, Dante kinda liked the kid.]

I suppose that depends on who's asking. I mean, I figure there's some kind of connection, what with the whole...

[He makes a wild gesture at his own hair.]

[ Okay, Atem, you really can't go around and admit that you're the spirit he's been time sharing his body with. Their friends know, but it's not something that you just go around and admit to others, they'll just find it strange.

Although he's touched that Yugi's got people looking out for him and pushing down the fact that that's supposed to be HIM doing it. ]

[That was the only explanation Takato could think of for why someone would be walking around dressed like that.]

[ Atem looks confused for a moment before looking down at himself, a hand reaching up to tug at his shirt. ]

No, I wasn't.

[ Believe it or not, he did actually wear this outfit, three thousand years ago. ]

I see. I'm not surprised. Yugi is rather good at making friends.

He seemed nice. I'm sure he'll contact you before long if you're one of his friends.

[The new arrival does look very familiar to the Seeker, but he's not so trusting as to simply answer his question.]

Richard Cypher. [He inclines his head in greeting.] Not everyone who arrives here is friendly. I don't know if you're Yugi's enemy or his friend.

[Chespin, Yugi's pokemon had been helping out his master; or at least his way of trying to help the shop. By helping he is basically not doing as he is told and thinks he is helping by carrying things he thought he wanted moved.

He knew the shop was somewhere along the way and had decided to wonder toward the Bay itself. After a moment or two, he soon realized he was awfully lost. Wondering with what appeared to be a box filled with something he slowly wondered before finally spot familiar hair.

However there was something different. He looked different was the first obvious sign, but it was enough for him to stand there, confused. Was it his master? Did he change suddenly for whatever reason? As Chespin puzzled over that, a very familiar sounding voice would be heard in the distance.]

Chespin!

[He perked up slightly turning around, the box still firmly in his tiny little paws as Yugi had stopped running, out of breath as he leant over for a moment.]

I didn't say you could run off like that.

[Once he managed to catch his breathe back, he moved to stand up as Chespin was looking over at the person standing at the front and back again. He was so confused right now.

Yugi however when he looked over looked just as puzzled. It didn't take him long before he figured they were new.]

Hi there. Are you new? [It seems obvious at this point something seemed wrong.]

[ The noise had been the first thing that had caught his attention. He glanced over, starting in surprise at the little animal. For a long moment, he's wondering if it's some sort of duel monster come alive, when he hears the voice.

And freezes.

Because he knows that voice; knows it better then his own.

The minute he spots Yugi, he's already moving towards the other. ]

Aibou! The others told me you were here, but I--

[ And his voice dies as he stops dead in his tracks. Wait... what? ]

[ Considering that she herself is typically dressed like she's right out of a renaissance fair, it's not that strange for her to see Atem wearing clothes that weren't typical in comparison to everyone else's. Still, she clicks on the feed with a soft expression, considering who this man just name-dropped. ]

Yuugi is here, and he runs a store in Genessia city. Are you a relative of his, if you do not mind my asking?

[ Hard not to draw that conclusion, considering the physical resemblances. ]

[ Yeah. They really never figured out the whole 'looking alike thing' either. ]

[Bakura is just going to blink at you for a moment, Atem, because how can this be possible? Not that anything should surprise him anymore, but still....]

Other Yugi? I was told you passed on. Or something to that effect. Though I suppose if you look at the afterlife as just being another world like this one, it could be possible.

[He comes out of his musings and looks apologetic.] Oh - I live with Yugi, actually.

[ The acknowledgment is curt, to the point, but lacking the edge it normally would while addressing the thief. For one, he wasn't sure if this Bakura still had the thief lurking withing and secondly, the world of his memories had opened up his eyes to some ugly truths. ]

Not quite yet, although I've been informed that it is to pass in the near future.

[ His statement is met with a nod. ]

That's good, Aibou likes having his friends around, after all.

This is definitely not where you're supposed to be. But to be fair, none of us should be here.

[ The young magician tilts her head slightly and smiles... he sure is dressed strange, but honestly? She gets comments about her state of dress constantly, too. So she doesn't have much room to talk. ]

I can't say for sure where he is, but I did meet him when I arrived the other day. He's a really nice guy.

Yes. He always has been. Yugi certainly is the type to make friends easily.

[ honestly, kisara hadn't been sure about reaching out when she saw the notification of the video. she had no ill feelings towards the pharaoh, but reaching out to those who reminded her of home was another story. she had thought about it, her initial reaction to be to set the device down and continue on with her day, but something held her there.

seto, telling her he trusted him. seth, willing to risk his life for him. if they both believed in this one man that much, kisara sees no reason to at least reach out. ]

Welcome to Genessia, Pharaoh. [ her smile is soft enough, though there is a weight to it. a kind of history there that she doesn't really know how to ignore. ] Yugi is here and I'm sure he will respond as well.

[ It's okay, Kisara, he feels the same way. So many things were done back then and he only recently rediscovered it. He can't change their past, but at the very least he can help with the future. ]

Kaiba told me you were here. How are you settling in?

[ There's a pause and he smiles slightly. ]

I have no doubt he will, as soon as he sees this. Or everyone tells him that someone is looking for him.
