05: Explorations (Open Action, Genessia City)

Notes: Less getting lost, more SHOPPING! Clothes shopping specifically, though she can be found in other places.
Warnings: Depends on what clothes she ends up finding.

A. Clothing Stores

[ Seeing some of this fashion really makes Adela think that she's in far over her head.

It isn't the price tags that are shocking her, not really, but... More of just how much skin everything shows. She'd been doing this with the intent of maybe trying to fit in somewhere that wasn't Fayren all of the time, but seeing some of the selection is a bit too much for her. Red-faced, the small teen finally ends up giving up on this store and makes to essentially flee the scene...

Unfortunately, with her eyes on the ground in front of her, she doesn't see who she bumps into rather suddenly and she back-pedals with a grunt. ]

I-I am sorry... [ Why is this happening. She's too nervous to really care whose fault it is or who bumped into who, just as long as she can get out without getting completely overwhelmed. ]

B. Cat's Eye Café

[ This place seems so nice... And it smells pleasant, too.

Adela finds herself seated at a small table by the window, and the experience isn't like any she's had before even on entering the café. She can't help a soft and almost gentle expression pulling at her expression as she just takes everything in, reading over the menu. It feels like she's spoilt for choice, unsure of just what she should pick and having to take quite a long time with it. A part of her is feeling adventurous, but what to pick?

Her attention shifts when she notices someone approaching, though if they're a server or not... Well, that remains to be said. ]

C. Park

[ Whether she's empty-handed or has her plunder for the day, the park is a place Adela will visit without fail. Even if Fayren has the ocean, something about the park and the pond there is just soothing to her. She can be found sitting near the shore, skipping any suitable pebbles she can find along the water or otherwise just watching the other passers-by. It's a reminder that even in this strange world, there are things she can appreciate about it.

Now, if only it wasn't tempting to nap by the shore. She seems to be nodding off every so often, as if being in the warm spring sun and the fatigue of the day are tempting her to sleep right then and there. ]

[ She rubs her arm then, looking at the clothing racks again as she tries to think of how to word it. ]

... It is fashion I am not used to, simply put. It feels strange to see so much clothing being so... Well... Revealing?

Ah...well, if it helps, you could always go with something simple and work your way up. I mean, wearing pants and a blouse are still a thing to do so you don't have to worry about showing skin.

[Indeed Yang's walking over to a small section of pants in various colors and sizes to show off what she means.]

Nothing wrong with showing some skin though. If you've got the figure and you've got the looks, why not flaunt it?

[ Adela seems curious as she follows Yang, and seeing what she's picking out... Well, it's a lot easier for Adela to relax, and she looks them over with a nod. ]

I think I could wear things like this. I am not sure I can be comfortable with revealing more skin, though... It seems like too much.

I dunno you seem like you could pull off a little more skin. Showing skin doesn't mean you have to be dressed skimpy. Just means you want to look nice and play up your advantages. I could see you in a cute dress, doesn't even have to show off anything more than below the knees even.

[Speaking of dress, Yang's pulling out a couple different styles, all long enough that Adela would be covered from the knees up and none of them at all anywhere suggestive like what the blonde would usually pick for herself.]

... I am not so sure I could.

[ She rubs her arm then, unsure of what else to do or say. The dresses might be a little much, and she's not sure if she's ready to even show that much. Is she really being silly with that though? Maybe, but she can't help it if she's uncomfortable can she? ]

[Yang notices Adela's obvious discomfort as she sets the dresses back down.]

Well that's alright. You don't have to dress to show skin. I suppose the best style is really just what suits you, so instead of flashy, go for color. Like something to complement your hair.

Sorry, I... I should at least try them though, should I not? I mean, my intent is to wear fashion similar to the other cities... So I should at least try.

That's up to you. I don't really want to push you if you're too hard against it. I just think you'd probably pull off a dress nicely.

[Also that fashion in places like Genessia is probably more modern so lots of showy outfits.]

[ ... Now she's starting to feel silly and even more embarrassed. ]

I am not used to showing my legs at all. Nor is anyone else where I am from, so it feels strange.

Well, you don't have to if you don't want to. Remember the pants? Keeps you covered, but still lets you look nice.

[Even Yang could tell she needed baby steps for Adela if she wanted to do fashionable clothes.]

You could always try just wearing a dress or a skirt that covers down to the ankles and get used to that first? Or wear a dress in your room where you have the privacy to see how you like it.

[ At last she offers a smile to Yang, nodding as she feels just a little less embarrassed. ]

Thank you, miss... Uhm...

[ ... Why does she always forget the exchange of names. She scratches her cheek then, making to amend that then and there. ]

My apologies, my name is Adela. May I know your name, miss?

[Oh right, exchanging names were needed.]

I"m Yang Xiao Long. Nice to meet you.

[She's holding out her left hand for a handshake then she'll be going back to browsing for things.]

Now...if you're getting pants...you'll need a nice shirt to go with it.

[ She takes Yang's hand and seems to relax a little more. She would have asked but... Well, it's possible that it's a sensitive subject, considering. Not something to ask someone she'd only barely met, she knows that much. ]

Ah, yes... I was told about that the other day, as well. That it was possible to wear that kind of thing and it would be fine, though I still do not have much clothing aside from what I arrived here in.

Well that's no good. You should get yourself some more clothes. It's always fun to try out different styles every so often.

[Indeed Yang's already pulled out a pair of bellbottom pants and a denim top to toss onto Adela's small pile of clothes.]

Nothing like trying them on to see what you like too.

[ She takes the fabric in hand, surprised as she feels out the denim top and showing that to her face. ]

... It feels much firmer than I expected it to. Tougher, like leather but... Not. What is it?

[Huh? Oh right, different worlds thing. Sometimes Yang forgets about that kind of thing. Then again she's not really branched out to meet other people since she came back from the docks. Not really in the mood at that point.]

That's called denim. It's a more sturdy fabric than normal. Most times it's a blue color, but you can find black denim or the like if you look for it.

Do you think it would be good for work clothing?

[ If there's one thing that can be said about Adela, it's that she'll usually think of function over fashion. This is no different. ]

My clothes often get dirty easily, through smoke and ash and grease if I am working with Miss Winry... Maybe purchasing something specific for work is a good idea.

Having work clothes is definitely a good idea. Keep the cute ones from getting dirty.

That said, you have to match the work clothes to the work. You wouldn't want say, a simple tee shirt and pants when you're doing construction work, or in the case of what you're saying. I'd say you'd want something you don't mind getting dirty or mind a few holes in them.

If you're wanting something that won't rip as easily, denim is definitely one way to go.

There is that, and I will be working in high heat as well.

[ She nods, looking over the denim shirt once more before draping it over her arm. ]

Is there anything else you might suggest to try?

Well if it's high heat, you'd probably want something light and airy too to ensure that you've got air flowing to cool you down.

[Something like the light blue top she's grabbed. It certainly looks rather light on thread, so probably a bit embarrassing considering it's obvious skin could be showing underneath easily enough.]

Doesn't do much, but at least it lets you try to keep cool in hot temperatures.

[ Give her a moment.

Yeah she's pretty red just looking at it, and after a beat she manages to clear her throat and glance away. ]

I uhm... I appreciate the thought but... Uh... It may also need to be resistant to fire. You see, there are often sparks flying, and if it catches fire easily I may end up with more burns than usual.

[ As if to prove her point she's showing Yang the burns along her right arm from years of work, old and healed but still there. There are similar burns along her left arm as well. It's not at all because the material is sheer of course not. ]

[Well that does put a damper on it then.]

Well I definitely wouldn't want to wear any of this around a fire. Why not just go with what you usually wear if you're near flames so much?

[Yang's not so concerned about Adela's burn marks. In the line of work she does, scars and such are pretty common too even with Aura to help heal the small wounds.]

You could always wear something under it to keep at least your chest covered, though that might defeat the purpose of avoiding heat.

... I would be more worried about the apprentice work I do with Winry, honestly. Even if it is not nearly as hot, it is just as messy so I may need different clothing for that. I can make do with what I have for my forge work.

I would like other things to wear on days I am not working, though. Just... Because I wish to. Does that sound strange?

That's not strange at all. That's normal really. Everyone wants to have clothes they can wear when they aren't working. That's the whole point of clothes, to have things you want to wear for different occasions. [And the whole wearing clothes thing.]

I have never really had clothes I could wear simply for the sake of wearing something nice before, so I would not know.
