[Nova City - Day]
[He'd been in this world for a day now, and the situation hadn't improved. He kept his head low, avoiding the choice of making use of the videophone until he had a full grasp on the situation and how to handle it. His mobile unit had no reception, which meant contacting the Sunflower Girl was out. The brat wasn't present either, but that would save him headaches and he was perfectly fine with not have to babysit him anymore. But the problem was that he was missing Nero- the dark terrennial wouldn't leave him hanging like this, and having spent an entire day here now, he was beginning to rule out trickery from the luna terrennial, or even from that one damn Immortal.
He was on the doorstep of his quarry before. And the idea of being trapped in this place without the prey he'd been chasing for seven years left a quiet rage burning inside of him.
He didn't know what he was after beyond information. The violet haired man chose to wander Nova City during these hours, shoving security robots out of his way and simply forcing his way past any crowds while walking down the streets. If he bumps shoulders with anyone, he won't even bat an eye, and he certainly won't apologize. As far as he was concerned? They shouldn't have been there in his way in the first place.]
[Everglade - Night]
[A man like him was almost drawn to this place. A city of reaked of darkness and death. It was just as bad as New Culiacan... which certainly meant that at least Lucian wouldn't be bored in this world. Perhaps he should be thankful for small favors. The undead of this place would taste his blade just as the hellspawn of his own world did, and he would make short work of whatever creature would dare charge the Dark Swordsman in the dead of night.
If he happened to help anyone? It just came with the territory, and he certainly wouldn't do it intentionally. This city had an undead problem, and it seemed to him that no one decided to stand up against them and simply accepted their fate. Right now, things sure didn't seem as different in Everglade than it did back in Acuna. And Old Culiacan, for that matter.]

Action | Everglade
[Soon he'll find a rather curious sight. Seven rotting zombies closing in on a cloaked man in jet black and silver. One hand brandishes a truncheon, fending off the horde's clumsy attempts to grab hold and bite, while the other is slashing about with a crescent-hilted katana. Burning blue eyes catch sight of the Dark Swordsman behind the undead.]
Hey.
[Friend, foe, or just passing through? Only one way to find out.]
Want a taste?
[It's not a losing battle by any means, but his tone suggests he's been killing these things for about an hour. And it's getting tedious enough that he doesn't mind sharing.]
Action | Everglade
He quickly dashed forward, aglow in a faint purple light and sword held out at his side. With a wide swing, he cuts down two of the zombies with ease before bringing up his shield to block another. Still calm, his eye briefly glances over towards the direction of the other man.]
This isn't the place for a costume party.
Action | Everglade
I'm no reveler. Just a priest doing the Lord's work.
[A third one lunges. Its bite finds purchase only on his truncheon's steel.]
Let me guess: new?
Action | Everglade
Maybe you should think about worrying about your own hide instead of doing work for someone else.
[His gaze caught one of the shambling undead coming up to his side, giving it a taste of his blade's pommel.]
And if I am?
[That definitely means 'yes.']
Action | Everglade
I'd say welcome to the madhouse and make yourself at home. You might be stuck here for a very long time.
[Maybe indefinitely.]
Action | Everglade
And you expect me to simply stand here and accept that?
Action | Everglade
[This hunter's got the moves. Or the genes. Maybe both. With the alley clear, he swings his sword once to clear it of zombie blood and returns it to the sheath at the small of his back.]
That said, you'll get a lot more mileage out of settling down. Beats waiting for the GSRF to make a breakthrough.
[Or shake down the wrong people. This guy kinda looks the type if pushed hard enough.]
Action | Everglade
I'm not interested in 'settling down' in whatever this place is. All I'm interested in is revenge, and whatever brought me here robbed me of that.
[Needless to say, he's not happy about that.]
But I'm sure what you have to say is all the same I heard in Nova City already, so I won't bother asking.
Action | Everglade
You'll pick things up on your own anyhow.
[He pauses at the alley mouth. Now it's his turn to look over his shoulder. He has a feeling he'll be seeing this hunter again real soon. His head cants to what's left of the zombies.]
Save some for the rest of us, huh?
[Nova City - Day]
You won't make any friends like that.
[A light smile graces Crystal's lips at the sight of the rude violet haired man. Her baby blue eyes shine with a warm humor while her blond curls settle perfectly around her cheeks.]
Are you lost?
[Her head turns to the side as she brings her coffee to her lips.]
I don't mean to presume but you appear to be in a rush. Can I help?
[Nova City - Day]
[He glances briefly in the direction of the woman. He wasn't exactly in a rush - not that he had any reason to be if the current scenario had anything to say about it, but he didn't exactly like hanging out and talking to people. Especially not without Nero around.]
What makes you think I'm lost?
[Nova City - Day]
[She smiles at him, completely at ease despite his gruff manner.]
If you want I can leave you be but I am always happy to help.
[Nova City - Day]
[He has half a mind to just walk off and move on, but he doesn't. He probably should at least take the time to get a little extra information to get his bearings straight.]
Alright, tell me this then. Where can I find an info broker around here?
[As much as he hates to admit it... not having Alice around might make things a little more complicated.]
[Nova City - Day]
[She smiles sweetly before taking a sip of her drink.]
Or you can ask your questions to someone who's in the same situation but have been here longer. Not that I'm volunteering though I'm skilled at both finding information and keeping secrets.
[It used to be part of her job.]
[Nova City - Day]
[He didn't really like that answer.]
So what? Does everyone in this place just casually accept it? Without doing a thing about it?
[Nova City - Day]
[For her part, she doesn't care if she's at home or here. She has no attachment to anyone anywhere.]
[Nova City - Day]
[He never really did care much for people who were so lenient. It was why he had no interest in helping a Guild gunslinger save civilians kidnapped by vampires.]
So what about you? Know anything that I haven't already heard over and over again?
[Nova City - Day]
Only that things aren't as they seem though I think you're wise enough to know that without me.
[She glances up at the sky before looking back at Lucian.]
I think I've wasted enough of your time. I'm better at finding the answers to specific questions than vague. I fear I don't know what you've already heard.
[Crystal bows her head slightly, a smile still on her lips. Her voice smooth like honey.]
If you'll excuse me.
[Nova City - Day]
Whatever you say, lady.
[Nova City - Day]
It's Crystal. There is no need to be rude.
[She turns away again and slowly makes her way towards her work.]
no subject
What was unsettling was the complete lack of monsters around her. None had come to take advantage of this opportunity. To frighten away even less-intelligent beasts like that meant she was either a known and skilled hunter, or something much worse than a monster.
Either way she either didn't notice him or was ignoring him. She paused to examine a few of the picked blossoms, tossing several aside, before moving on.
no subject
Having no intention of speaking to the woman, he moved to simply walk past her, in search of further undead to bring to a swift end. In his complete disregard for his surroundings, he would step on a perfectly fine nearby jasmine plant.
no subject
If he was quick enough he might catch a glimpse of red eyes before the maid's returned to their neutral greyish blue. She was staring right through him.
"I would appreciate you refrain from stepping on these plants. The flowers make excellent tea. And I do not wish to see them wasted."
no subject
He slowly looked over his shoulder, his single brown eye gazing back at the woman. He appeared unfazed, though he would have ready to counter any potential attacks, should something happen. If it happened.
"There are plenty of them around. Losing one isn't going to ruin your tea party."
no subject
She half-turned, reaching out to pick another blossom. Other than her obviously well-refined etiquette and that she clearly had some form of power, it was difficult to discern more about the maid. "So, what is one such as yourself doing out on a night like this? In Everglade no less. You are either very strong, or very stupid."
no subject
He couldn't have possibly cared less about her attitude towards any plants. He finally turned around to face her as he narrowed his eye. This city was nothing to him, or if anything, nothing that he wasn't already used to.
"I don't see how that's any of your business, but I'm a vampire hunter."
no subject
"Vampire hunter?" She didn't seem hostile but her tone was almost mocking. "You should just give up now. Go hunt the beasts in Fayren and come back with trophies. Perhaps then you will have the strength to confront what this world has to offer. The castle of Lord Tepes is not for those without a well-refined blade."
"Of course... I could be wrong. But this is your life. Not mine."
no subject
"You can't be serious. If you think anything in this place has been a challenge, then clearly you're the one that needs to go and refine her skills."
This sure wasn't the first time that he met a woman that was more than a little overconfident.
"But Tepes? I'll be keeping that name in mind."
no subject
She stepped back. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves though. I, personally, wont oppose you here and now without reason. My Lady Scarlet has given me no order to take your head, and so long as you do not cross her, then I doubt she will."
"Though if you were to give me reason I would not hesitate to cut you down. You seem more challenging than the beasts I fend off daily."
Action | Everglade
Seemed like a great night to just float around and relax. ]
Action | Everglade
Whether that was true or not, who knows. They were they ravings of spirits, after all. Though there may be some truth to it, as the death screech of a creature was heard just down the road. The area where a particular Dark Swordsman may currently be found.]
Action | Everglade
He might spend most of his time protecting humans from ghosts. But in cases like this, he was more than happy to protect the ghosts from whatever was scaring them. And if it was one of those trigger-happy shoot first ask questions never ghost hunters, Danny had some words for him. ]
Action | Everglade
When he noticed something else approaching, Lucian was quick to spin around with his sword at the ready, his eye falling on Danny. He made no moves yet, but he wasn't about to let his guard down around anything in this city.]

Action | Everglade
I don't know, you tell me.
Re: Action | Everglade
Action | Everglade
And I should care... why, exactly?
Re: Action | Everglade
Everglade
He was working on fixing this problem of course. However, he had to get involved. So using a spell one would find the undead were being protected by a spell.]
You know your breaking the law, right?
Everglade
And what would that be?
[Not that he exactly cares, but please, humor him.]
Everglade
[Not that he was happy about it anyway.]
I cannot officially arrest you however, being human myself but I can easily get someone to do it who isn't.
Everglade
[He lost his humanity seven years ago. He even states that bluntly as if that gives him a pass.]
So you gonna leave me alone, or are you going to keep pestering me about a ludicrous 'law'?
Everglade
[He shakes his head slightly.]
Sadly no, human or not now it's still a case of being under arrest. Because the law states people who aren't human still have rights and are allowed justice, so... You are in trouble either way. Just depends on which poison you want.
Everglade
[Though his mouth seemed to instinctively twitch when 'vampire' was mentioned, but there was no such reaction to the others. He had a stronger connection to vampires than he cared to admit, going beyond even just merely hating them.
He rolls his eyes, placing the tip of his sword into the ground and proceeding to lean on his weapon.]
Right. Because shambling corpses with no semblance of sentience deserve justice for being put out of their misery. And if anything else want their "rights" so much, then maybe they should think twice about attacking me.
[He narrows his visible eye.]
Let me guess. A vampire is the one that put this law in place and everyone's too afraid to take him on and just choose to sit and accept it, right?
Everglade
[He saw the reaction, but he didn't see it as as positive thing, more a negative. But did that mean he was one and hated it? Or something else? Oh, well that wasn't important.]
In Everglade though, they have justice just as anyone else does. Some just attack for the sake of attacking anyway, but some can just be hungry.
[He laughed slightly.]
I would say bingo, but it was really obvious, even to a new arrival. But no, it's because I have to do things legally and not force him using my position because apparently part of the problem was my position abusing it. I say that because I think your way of thinking would be fight him until you get what you want, doesn't care who gets hurt.
Everglade
Does a 'Tepes' happen to have something to do with this?
[Okay maybe he should acknowledge something else. Fai was pretty much spot on, and he doesn't care either.]
And if someone gets in my way, I take them down. Plain and simple.
Everglade
[He seemed to be playing around with wording, but he knew he shouldn't make accusations 100% But he was fairly sure it was indeed the case.]
