Other than going cold turkey, what can you do to deal with an addiction? And how do you know for sure that it is an addiction? Especially if it's something you still need in your life? Like work, or exercise, or food, or sex, or whatever.

[A is for Action: At the Sycamore Cycles, Smoker seems pretty well focused. Nothing out of the ordinary going on with him, even if he is wearing the leather jacket despite the heat, that's still not that unusual for Smoker. And it's a lot cooler this week than last. This time it's not jazz on the radio, but rock instead, although he doesn't appear to be enjoying himself any less. However, upstairs, he keeps playing with a pen, apparently trying to chew gum and smoke at the SAME TIME, and fidgeting about with wanting to make coffee... and not wanting to. Weird. Even for Smoker.]
[B is for Baseball: At the batting cages, Smoker cranks up the speed to as high as it will go, and despite wearing very dark motorcycle goggles at night, he does seem to be hitting the balls fairly regularly. It's cheating though, he's just got the rhythm figured out, and he needs a pitcher. Preferably not like Garp though, no one needs to practice batting cannonballs, not even someone who wants to catch the future pirate king.]
[C is for Carp: And then he's just fishing. And he looks really really out of place with it. Like he's the fish debating whether to go for the bait despite the obvious hook or leave it be and look somewhere else. Decisions, decisions.]

But I don’t think people are addicted to breathing. That’s just something you have to do? Something you’re addicted to is something you don’t have to do, but you do it anyways?
( text )
( text )
Just like breathing, if you don’t eat or drink you die.
I feel like you’re trying to find an excuse to do whatever you’re addicted to.
( text )
Like I said, I can't go cold turkey on it completely. I need to deal with some, but maybe trying to keep it at a distance?
I don't think scheduling it would help much though.
( text )
But I can’t tell you what works. You have to figure it out! And if you really want to stop, then you’ll be committed to it.
[ and if you need a coach, she’ll be here to cheer you on the path to victory! ]

But I need to find a way to cut back.
( text )
Anything you like? Hobbies?
( text )
I like to keep busy.
Although I suppose I've been slacking on actual regimented exercise and anything "routine."
How about you, what do you enjoy?
( text )
But I like to garden, read, and I really like botany. A lot of my hobbies aren’t really exciting… (;; ^w^)
I really want to get into sports! Any suggestions?
( text )
I'm fond of baseball most. And fighting. Bowling isn't a bad beginner sport. Sailing, row crew, and motocross aren't bad either, if you can find the right location for it.
Have you tried any sports before?
( text )
I’m only familiar with fighting, comes along with the job of becoming a future demon Exorcist! :)
But I’ve seen baseball on tv. It looked exciting!
( text )
What's a demon exorcist?
If you want to play baseball, I'm trying to get a team together. Are you familiar with either Adela or Coby? And maybe Kuzan.
( text )
I’m actually not a full Exorcist yet but I plan to be!
I… have never met any of these people, sorry! :(
( text )
No worries, part of the fun in sports is getting to meet new people.
( text )
[ shiemi can count on her fingers and toes the many times she’s been knocked unconscious, been injured, and one time this demon tried to take her as his wife. ]
I’d really like making new friends, but I’m kinda awkward around new people.
( text )
[Aw she sounds adorable!]
Don't worry, I am sure a lot of people are. [Smoker is so awkward that he could make rocks cringe.] That's part of the fun with team sports, it's not like cycling or running, other people fill in where you're shy.
( text )
But I wouldn’t mind joining in! If there’s nice people like you there, I’m sure I’ll enjoy myself!
[ hey, they can be enough awkward for everyone included. ]

( text )
Oh wait! I haven’t learned your name yet. I’m Shiemi!
Kuzan? He sounds very silly! :)
( text )
Nice to meet you Shiemi. I'm Smoker.
And Kuzan is very silly. If most marines like to keep busy, he likes to avoid that.
( text )
A marine? Is he in the army or something?
( text )
The marines. We both were. Or are, depending on how much authority you think we have here. Which is none, but old habits die hard.
