Shooting games | Open to all

[Athrun wasn't terribly into carnival games, but he honestly couldn't bring himself to say no to the shooting games. Whether they were pellet guns or squirt guns, Athrun was confident in his ability to win them.

Ultimately? That's what ends up happening. Athrun's aim is so accurate and precise that every pellet, every jet of water goes exactly where he wants it to go. In one game, he even starts shooting down targets less than a second after they pop up. No shots are wasted.

But he's also not looking to ruin the game vendors' days. He'll play each game once, then move on to another once he wins a prize.]

That's impressive.

[Lenalee had just been wondering by, having a good look around when she had come across the shooting.]

Admittedly, that kind of game would not be something I would do well with.

[Athrun looks up when he realizes that he is being spoken to.]

Oh? Um, thank you. It's not my favorite talent to have, but it's something I try to keep on top of.

Is there a reason? I mean a reason you keep on top of it.

[The why she assumed would be personal and not something one would normally talk about.]

I'm a soldier. It's imperative that I keep my skills sharp for that reason.

[The unspoken message being that if he doesn't, he puts both his own life and his colleagues' lives at risk.]

[That makes sense and it was something she understood fully. But she wasn't going to say that outloud.]

So even here you have to? Do things go bad?

[Athrun closes his eyes for a second and inhales deeply, but it isn't enough to prevent sadness from working its way into his face.]

Sometimes. It's not often, but sometimes things go awry. I suppose I can assume that you're new here, correct?

[bloodheels]

Yeah. Only a few ago I arrived.

[Which she figured would still make her new until she had some other experiences, which she wondered if and when that would happen.]

So as much as this place can seem peaceful, from time to time it can go south. At least if that happens we can handle it, right?

[Athrun nods solemnly.]

That's the basic idea. I have the power to make a difference, so I do everything I can to make sure I can do just that.

[She just nodded slightly. She didn't really need to train to keep her abilities at top peak, at least in her mind anyway.]

I'm at least... glad, I guess that people are like that. I mean I know I wouldn't want to always have to be ready for such a possibility, but I guess someone has to.

[he sees the guy carefully racking up points just for the hell of it it seems, and just for the hell of it decides to mess with him a bit.

So he stalks him for a while, getting a feel for how he moves and how he shoots and in a pivotal moment attempts to goose him]

[Ace pilots have excellent situational awareness. Coordinators have strong senses and tremendous potential. Athrun just so happens to be both, so he can sense that the guy behind him is trying something.

What's his reaction? Simply to turn sideways, without missing a beat. It also doesn't disrupt his flow one bit -- after engaging in live firefights, standing still and shooting is an absolute breeze. And he's not going to flinch from someone grabbing his leg.]
