Welcome to the Festival of Fireflies

The Firefly Masquerade post is here]

Aah! Ibuki caught herself a cute girl instead of a duck! That should mean we both win!
[It's unlikely that the stallholder will agree to that, but that's not to say Ibuki isn't going to give it a fair shot anyway.]
no subject
Um, cute--I mean, that is to say... [She looks away from Ibuki and stares out into the crowd trying to regain some of her composure back. She's not 12 anymore, jeez self.]
Um, maybe... Maybe just a free game?
no subject
Well? What do you say? It's not like either of us is really to blame so neither of us should be penalised for the rods' attraction to one another.
[Perhaps the stall owner knows it's for the best to give in to her, because her request is met with a sigh and a nod, rods taken and detangled before being handed back with a "Be more careful this time."]
Right! Let's try this again and see what we can reel in!

[Hinata takes her rod back and steps a few more steps away from Ibuki. Then bites her lip, because she realizes that could be taken as rude and pauses for a moment.
She looks between Ibuki and the game, trying to figure out why she's thinking so hard on this.]
Um, just so we hopefully won't tangle them again?
[
The most awkward of awkwardsAnd she just... casts off again, hopefully not doing what she just said.]no subject
[Because plastic ducks are really going to care about that sort of thing.
She adjusts her stance, then, casting off and then looking over again.]
I got a reeeeeeal good feeling about this one. For both of us.
[Like she has any control over how these things work.]
sorry about the late tag, got sick
She goes to take in a deep breath, but it turns out to be a gulp more than anything.
Just look at it like Kiba... Just like Kiba...]
Ah, we--well, we wouldn't want that..
[Simple, but no one would have any idea how much it took of her to utter that simple sentence. She can be normal, really.]
But yes... I--I think we'll both have some good luck.
[She's back to focusing on her own rod, her blush still there.
But--is that another tugging on both their rods?]
no worries, I've been away anyway. Hope you're feeling better!
She does feel the tug soon enough. At first, she thinks they've cracked it - a quick check shows that yes, it's a duck she's hooked. It's just she's not the only one to have hooked that duck.
That grin grows even wider, as she shoots a sly look at her fishing companion.]
If these rods were red I'd think this were fate.
i do, thanks and wb!
I can't believe... Twice in a row.
[She shakes her head, smile still on her face. It seems like even the stall owner can't believe it either. These games are supposed to be rigged, just... Not usually in this way.]
I think whoever might be dealing out hands of fate... They must be playing a joke on us.
no subject
[And after a glance at the stall owner, Ibuki can't help but push just a little.]
And those loops aren't all that big. So to both hook the same one takes a special kind of skill I'd say.
[If they're not both leaving with prizes bigger than their heads, it'll be a true waste of achievement. Especially when there is a rather colourful alpaca plush she has her eye on.]
no subject
Exactly. Otherwise, we might end up here all night with free games since it seems like this is likely to keep happening.
[Faced with both of them (and probably just wanting them to go away at this point), he relents and holds up one finger. Looks like they'll both be getting their pick of a prize (rather than continuing to get free games).]
no subject
[Ibuki doesn't really bother to hide her glee as she moves to point towards a rainbow alpaca...only to spot a giant zombie alpaca instead.]
Ooh! Ibuki wants this one, please!
[And once she has it, she soon has a deathgrip on it with both arms.]
no subject
Ah, I'll take... Um, that one. Thank you.
[She points out a simple white dog. Compared to the zombie alpaca, it's pretty plain. But she smiles all the fondly as she holds it.]
I guess our mishaps.. They worked out for the best?
no subject
[Never mind that Ibuki had been easily enough amused by it even before all this happened.]
I mean, Ibuki even hooked herself a new friend.
no subject
Well, I know... I've never had such a good time duck fishing. Or ever made a friend from it.
[Even if someone calling her a friend makes her blush again.]
no subject
[Oh but wait, something's missing. Maybe a squeeze of her new alpaca plushie will remind her...
Ah yes!]
Ah but what should Ibuki call her new friend?
no subject
[She stares at the plushie. That's right; none of her friends back home are here to say she probably shouldn't name anything.
But then she remembers!]
Um... Unless, you mean my name. That I never...gave. [Yeah, she's blushing again. She's been really bad about telling people her name recently.] ...Which is Hinata.
no subject
Of course I meant you, Hinata-chan.
[Wait...]
Ah! You have the same name as someone else Ibuki knows! Though that was his family name...hah! What are the chances?
[Ibuki is easily amused.]
no subject
no subject
[Not that she's sure Peko really counts as that any more...not that Peko is alive to count any more but never mind that.]
no subject
And it really does seem that way with this. At least... It's also just a nice coincidence.
no subject
[Once might have been coincidence but the second time has sealed it, as far as Ibuki is concerned.]
no subject
Isn't coincidence just another way fate works out? Or, well, that's... That's how I view it.
