Welcome to the Festival of Fireflies

Who: You! Anyone and everyone is welcome to come!
What: A Festival of Fireflies with games, food, rides and more!
Where: Genessia
When: August 15th-20th. Starting at 7pm
Warnings: Be sure to warn in your threads appropriately.
[The gates are open and the air is filled with the sound of music. Whether you're a reveler, a vendor or anything in between-- come and enjoy the festival!
The Firefly Masquerade post is here]

Still going on about that, huh? You think trash would walk around with a pile of prizes that big?
[It's an attempt at cheering him up, though she doesn't expect that it'll work. Some things are beyond her power to change but there's no harm in taking a break here for a little while either way.]
no subject
[As if that talent didn't mean anything, despite his faith in it.]
Though, in a way, winning so much just means it's less of a good idea to go out there right now.
You should be careful too. If things are too good you might suddenly drop dead!
[Not that he wanted that sort of thing to happen. But, it wouldn't surprise him.]
no subject
Ibuki has already sworn that she will not die here. Once was more than enough.
[He can keep his luck spirals to himself; Ibuki wants nothing to do with those if it means dying again.]
no subject
[If he could keep it to himself he would, that was half the problem. Though, he didn't exactly think it would get that bad. At least, he had no reason to think it would get that bad so far.
Though now he was out of things to say and just looked down a bit feeling awkward.]
no subject
And that's when, scanning the area for nearby options, she perks up and makes a grab for Nagito's wrist.]
You know what, Ibuki thinks we're running low on sugar. Let's go check out the ice cream.
[And hey, they can't talk about awkward things if they're eating, right?]
no subject
[He didn't sound particularly enthused. Sweet things....]
Do you think this place has salted plumbs maybe? Or even takoyaki instead?
[He didn't struggle though. He let her pull him. It was actually a weird feeling. He had been justifiably ostracized on the island, and before didn't interact with anyone if he could help it. He felt almost at a loss.
However, he did not feel lucky.}

[Ibuki's still getting ice cream later. But if it means Nagito isn't going to wander off alone to do who knows what, she'll look away from the sweets for now.
Besides. Now he's mentioned it, takoyaki sounds pretty tempting right now. But she's not about to admit that any time soon.]
no subject
[Maybe the place would have something else as well. There was no reason to compromise in his favor.]
no subject
[Which isn't entirely untrue by this stage. Now they just have to find someone selling it. Which may be the sticking point but no sense giving up just yet.]
Ooh, or chicken would be good too. Then Ibuki could eat all the sweets she wants as dessert.
no subject
[ He walked quietly along side her as they searched for food stalls. It felt awkward.]
You know, it's alright. I'm not going to do anything. You don't have to force yourself to keep an eye on me.
no subject
[And forgive her if she doesn't trust him on that one. He might not be planning anything yet but who knows when he'll meet someone with some sort of talent or other and then destroy the world to push them?
But it seems luck is with them in some way, as there is indeed takoyaki to be had.]
Huh. Guess we don't need the second choice after all.
no subject
[ It was hard to accept that. But then he couldn't blame her, even though he knew he hadn't done anything wrong in the situation they had been in, he had only tried to help. But, it was normal for people to not understand, and where before he had assumed it was because of them all being the talented elite he now understood it was simply because they didn't value hope properly, that they had all been false hope.
Maybe... oh! Maybe this was a chance? A chance to fix that flaw in a new world? But how presumptuous to think he could change something like that.... Time would have to tell. ]
Oh! How lucky!
[ Of course. ]
no subject
Ibuki's not thinking too hard on that now, making sure she has her order of takoyaki before remembering that he had, technically, asked her a question.]
This might be a second chance but Ibuki's not one to stick around somewhere she doesn't want to be. Not by choice.
[The island doesn't count.]
no subject
[ Of course he wasn't being serious by any stretch of the imagination. Though it was indeed his first time having someone with him at a festival. ]
no subject
[There's a trace of mischief in Ibuki's expression as she continues.]
Ibuki's heart is reserved for a cute girl and you're neither cute nor a girl. So it's totally okay for us to be here like this.
[Mutual not-giving-hearts-away company is fair game for a festival, right?]
no subject
Of course. We are still classmates.
no subject
[She's still cheerful. But her tone makes it clear that she very much means that.]
no subject
I suppose.
no subject
You don't think so? I thought you were the one who always said we had to take hope from all the crappy things that happened.
no subject
[He couldn't help but frown remembering it all. The things he had read, the things they had all done. What they had turned into.]
But to fall into it.... That's a thing that happened. The memory of that reality, is probably why you died as well.
[He had thought he would avoid the subject, but it bothered him too much to try and brush it off when it came up.]
no subject
[Okay, hold the phones, this is a serious bomb he's dropping here and Ibuki has zero idea of how to handle it.
So she'll opt for translating it into what makes sense for her and see where that gets her.]
Well...sure, I could see that I guess? We were going through some pretty despair-heavy stuff...sucks I don't remember more of it.
[Though it's probably a blessing in many ways.]
no subject
[Since he was sort of dying for most the time.]
The despair disease gave one of us our school memories back. A person who could do something like that, for despair, all of us could have potentially been that person. So should we really think of them in such a light? That world... wasn't what we thought it was. We weren't what we thought we were.
It would be better to not think about them too much, unless they show up here.
If they show up here, then clearly they are being given a second chance. They are being given hope! But before that....
[Before that chance they were just human garbage that descended into despair and spread it like a disease.]
no subject
[She looks down at the takoyaki in her hands. Suddenly it doesn't seem so appealing any more, now that Nagito's vague talk has her caught up in what it all means. Why he's suddenly speaking the way he is, different but still unsettling.
In the end, she shoves her food at him, or wherever she can set it if he won't take it.]
Maybe Ibuki needs to call it a day. These things are pretty tiring.
[Though it's not because of the festival that she's suddenly tired.]
no subject
But, even if he felt bad about ruining her fun, it was still something that probably had to be said eventually. A truth that just couldn't be hidden.
However, though he felt bad he wasn't going to say sorry.]
I understand.
