TWO [action]

//Sycamore Cycles//

[Trafalgar Law was having a Day.

When he arrived in Genessia a few weeks ago he had realized three things: his reputation and standing as pirate back home meant almost nothing, that in addition to being without his submarine and crew, his goals were literally unobtainable and he had no reason to continue a life of piracy here when he had other skills that could be put to good use, and that for some people from home (and others who would inevitably learn that he was a pirate as he wasn't exactly trying to hide it) neither of those facts would matter.

Of course being away from home didn't absolve him of his crimes nor did he expect the marines here to treat him as such. However, he did expect a certain level of decorum. A terse sort of forced friendliness if only because it wasn't worth the trouble to continue an antagonistic relationship. Perhaps tolerance would be the right word for it. After all what good would it do any of them to engage in destructive behaviors? It wasn't like he could be convicted and tried as a pirate here and he has done nothing to warrant any sort of punitive action.

Then there was Smoker.

Smoker who acted like he needed to prove something. Like he owed it to Genessia to keep the pirates from his world from causing trouble. Smoker who always, always, acted on his own justice. Smoker who told him that he still felt like he had to catch pirates. That he had an almost physical and psychological need to catch pirates.

It was Smoker who was responsible for Law's current situation. That situation was, in short, humiliating. Smoker had caught him. Barged into his office, stuck the tip of his seastone capped jitte into the center of his chest, and shackled him with seastone cuffs before Law had even had a chance to open his mouth and ask him what the hell he was doing in his office.

It pisses him off that he didn't see it coming. It infuriates him that because he didn't see it coming, because he had mistakenly allowed himself to be lulled into some sort of complacency ever since he started to work at the hospital, it had happened so damn fast. Then, Smoker had toted him along in those seastone cuffs with Law yelling and screaming at him the whole time even though he was exhausted because of those stupid things and ploppped down at Sycamore Cycles.

He made sure to cuff his legs, too. Just to make sure he wouldn't be running off anywhere.

Then, he left.

The asshole just up and left him there.

So, everyone, there is one very pissed off pirate chained up inside Sycamore Cycles shouting after Smoker's reatreating back, "GET BACK HERE, ASSHOLE! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING? YOU'D BETTER NOT BE LEAVING ME HERE LIKE THIS. I SAID GET BACK HERE!" Shouting long after he's gone and eventually quieting down into a stewing, heavily embarassed silence because why did this happen to him what is his life.]

"Mhm. I'm...surprised you're a pirate at all, actually, having killed a hundred of them yourself. Guess you aren't exactly monolithic..." cripes but Genessia picked the most morbid people. Not as bad as blowing up a planet or two, but still. By now it might be clear Ted reads/sees/listens to pretty much every network post. Good way to fill the time and get to know people without their knowledge or consent. He's glad the private function on phones is, for all he knows, seldom used.

"A surgeon who hasn't done anything. Suppose you're arrested for sloth, then." That was a joke. When it went down as well as Ted should've expected, he'd turn somber.

"I...don't understand. Smoker wouldn't have done this without a reason, and you seem genuine..."

If only people were awestruck, as if visited by some kind of soul-seeing prophet or mystic. No one ever gave him that kind of credit; can't imagine why. "More's the pity." That's what killed him about pirates; limited allegiances. If only they could see the light...

"Oh, heh, well that's a relief." Sort of. What, he harvested organs or something? He's a little afraid to ask how he got those hearts, to say nothing of how he earned the title "Surgeon of Death."

He wasn't sure what to think. Probably nothing; Smoker must have had a good reason, and he didn't want to be faithless and pester him about what it was. Goodness knows Ted was annoyed when people so innocently inquired whether he really was a psychotic werewolf torturer. "Suppose time or distance can't absolve everything...do you, ah, want company until he returns? Or I could leave a book behind; you can probably turn the pages with your feet."

There's something treacherous about a person named "Law" being a lawless pirate, Ted thought, as waves of palpable apathy bored into him. He should probably be arrested for that, if nothing else. That must be it; even if Smoker made a bad decision, he was still an unwitting servant of God's exacting justice on his selfish spirit. Or something.

"Oh, heh, well neither's much fun if you don't care for them. In that case I'll leave you to your, ah, meditations. Good afternoon!" He'd be a while in leaving in case Law changed his mind, since being stuck probably wasn't much fun if there's no one to talk to. Then again, this might be a good chance to sit a spell and think about what he's done. Whatever it is.
